Road House Is Getting A Remake

There is something about Road House that is perfect. No, not the story which is straight out of a bad A Team script. It really isn't the acting either because Patrick Swayze kind of phoned his performance in. It is the kind of movie that works because of the bad story and bad acting. It probably should have never been made in the first place but it was and it is a great way to spend a couple of hours when you come across it during some late night channel surfing.

The last thing Road House needs is a remake. Why remake a movie that shouldn't have been made in the first place. I think this is Hollywood's way of trying to erase Patrick Swayze from their memories. First there was the Red Dawn remake and now this. Rob Cohen, the director of Fast And The Furious is set to take charge of the project.

Next thing you know there will be a Dirty Dancing remake in the works. Heaven forbid they come up with an original idea....Hollywood the land of rehash, SMDH

Movies are crap these days because of big budgets and too much emphasis on special effects etc. Hollywood no longer cares to make movies with decent writing or character development. Do we really need a Roadhouse 3D? Roadhouses charm was its low budget and gritty appeal.

@Montana: naturally, there already is a Dirty Dancing remake ; )

I thought they did do a remake of Dirty Dancing, @Montana? No?

Remakes don't bother me: if it looks awful, I don't bother, watch the original instead. Hmmmm....grizzled Sam Elliott with that sexy growl. Hmmmm...

No Patrick Swayze movie should EVER be remade. You cannot improve upon his perfection!

Patrick Swayze...oh gosh..
when I was in high school I had a friend whos mom turned the family laundry room into a Patrick Swayze shrine!!! No lie--the walls were covered in his pictures it was crazy.
He also reminds me of that weird Gummo movie where the albino chick is rambling on about him being the perfect man lol

Guaranteed flop!
I wonder if the producers of all of these remakes that flop are just taking the advice of Max Bialystock & selling over 100% to investors, because they know it will fail.
Sooner or later, of of these will turn into another "Springtime For Hitler" & they'll end up in prison!

The powers-that-be in the US film industry see no options but doing constant "remakes," "reboots," and trying to milk what original material they do work with so that extends over three, four, five or more movies instead of one. Why? Because the bean-counters have convinced them that they can't hire anyone who can actually write. Instead, they hire according to the "correct" demographic. That means it has to be someone under thirty years of age, even if the best he or she can do is to shamelessly copy someone else's original work.

$100 says they stick Jason Statham in this.

You can't remake perfection. I watch that movie every single time it's on tv no matter what else I'm doing.
"A man puts a gun in yer face, you got two choices - stand there 'n die or kill the motherfucker!" TRUTH

Anytime my son injures himself, I growl like Sam Elliot "Hurts, don't it?"

Jason Statham nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.............

Somerhalder I could live with, throw the guy a bone after not giving him 50 Shades

I agree rather they didn't mess with the Swayze legacy such as it is

Patrick Swayze NEVER phoned anything in and this movie is perfect just as it is. No one is ever gonna have a kick like Swayze!

LOL @ Charlie! Love Sam Elliott, too. He was the best thing about Ghost Rider.

There was Road house 2 (2006) so this wouldn't be a remake but a remake of a remake.

I have so much sad about this. No one will be able to deliver the line "Pain don't hurt." The way the Swayz did, and NO ONE could ever be as cool as Sam Elliott. He's on my old man crush list.

Ewww.. why? I couldn't sit through the first original and im genuinely surprised anyone liked it.

Pretty soon Hollywood is going to run out of movies to remake, reboot, prequel, sequel, or reinvent. They are already making almost every damn best selling book into a movie, then you have your comic books and manga as well they are drawing from for either movies or television. Pretty soon originality is going to become a novilty.

And yes, I have been watching way too much Curb Your Enthusiam, pretty,pretty,pretty....

They could try to redo the movie, but they will never find anyone to play Sam Elliot's role! That mans voice is sex on a stick, and he was perfect as Wade Garret. I agree that Hollywood is big on the remake thing the last few years, and let's be honest... who can name a remake that was better than the original?? Not very often that happens. Hollywood would be better off sticking to film adaptations of novels..there are a billion out there that haven't been done yet.

STOP REMAKING 80'S CLASSICS!! Your killing my childhood!!

Well, on one hand, it couldn't be any worse than the original right?

And I hate to admit it but... The fam and I just watched the Red Dawn remake, and I actually liked it.
But I didn't know that Connor Cruise was in it. I think he might have actually had 3 lines.

Good god, that movie sucked so hard in the 80s & I'm sure a remake will suck even harder!

Seven of Eleven said...

If they attempt a Goonies remake...

Who could ever replace Swayze, though?? He would have to be able to dance, kick, be only four feet tall, wear pants up to his nipples, show his bum, keep his head upright under the weight of all that mullet mousse AND deliver such gems as "Pain don't hurt". Sam Elliot is wow. Always wow.

What a waste of time and money. Swayze's Dalton is the best cooler in the biz. End of story.

I love the platinum blonde with the teased Aquanet hair helmet and French-cut underwear who was supposed to be oh-my-god so beautiful and classy.

LOL. The 80's.

Just looking at that pic of him is making my lady parts sizzle.

It'll probably star The Rock and be written by Kurtzman and Orci ( who have written every movie since the first live action Transformers) and be as bad as every movie those 3 have done combined and make the original seem like Casablanca.

And OMG they have done a remake of a special favorite 80's movie of mine. About Last Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like WHAT

@Seven - preach it baby! Goonies Rule!!!
