Blind Items Revealed

June 8, 2007

#1. Are you an extra and want to be seen on camera more or given a bit part? This A list director who already has a bad reputation can make it happen. That is of course if you are willing to do everything he says for the entire shoot. If you do, it seems that he keeps his word and delivers. One extra was so good she even got a few lines to say and now is a regular on a hit television show.

Brett Ratner

Bummer. Mr. Ratner has done too much work for finding out, who the elusive extra/actress is.

Dania Ramirez. She had tiny part in X2 and was on Heroes shortly after.

What's with all the old reveals? Statute of limitations run out?
Who gives a shit about Rattner?
Or Tori Spelling for that matter?

A REALLY good friend of mine dated him for a long time. I thought he was really sweet and cool and that the rumors I had heard about him were just bullshit until they broke up and he immediately began hitting on me and calling so much that my boyfriend threatened to kick his ass.

I don't like the casting couch thing, but as long as she was willing, and he kept his word then good for both of them getting what they both wanted mutually.

Basil its just crappy that it has to be that way.

Some things need to not be called 'casting couch', that makes it seem all very cute and neat. When it's actually rape. Not saying that that's what happens all of the time but it does happen A LOT. 'Casting couch' just makes people feel better about sexual assualts.

Once again, the powerful taking advantage of the vulnerable. It's pretty much how life works on this planet, but we humans are the only species that has the means to change this, and we have, to some tiny extent.

Ratner's a pig, he's always been a pig. No idea who the girl is but at least she got away from him eventually and got something for her trouble.

@auntliddy and others. I agree. The whole casting couch thing is a complete abuse of power over the powerless. But it isn't rape is the other person agrees to it and they get something in return. I guess it is more like prostitution. And, it doesn't just happen in Hollywood. There is a reason why there are sexual harassment laws on the books. Sadly, Hollywood seems to work outside of any law unless they don't pay taxes.

Speaking from personal experience, the 'casting couch' isn't always mutual. I had a job writing on a show on HBO. An exec was constantly cornering me and trying to push his toungue down my throat and hands down my pants, while asking me what could 'he do for me'. I quit. If I would've reported it, I would've been black balled and not work ever again. So please spare me that that shit is mutual. I'm in my 30s and can handle myself, but imagine a 20 year old fresh off the greyhound, who can't. So yeah, miss me with that one.

@hollywood dime: thanks for clarifying that. So much of this behavior gets downplayed (or played off) that we don't recognize the weight and severity of the issue.
