Yes, Matt Lauer will be there but if the executives at Today are smart and lets be honest they really aren't all that smart they would lock Matt in his office or tell him to stay home for the day and let the magic happen. On Monday, Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel will return to the Today Show and co-anchor it for the first time since the 1980's. Bryant is till on television on HBO and Jane kicks around the tires every so often on a freelance job but doesn't do much else. The two of them made Today number one and then passed the torch to Katie Couric and Matt Lauer. It was during Jane and Bryant's run that a guy in late night was trying to make his mark and decided that crashing the Today Show while they were airing a live show would be the perfect way to get people to watch his own show on the network.
