Blind Items Revealed

August 18, 2013

For the first time that I can remember, I heard something really nasty about this A+ list celebrity with A+ list name recognition. She does a lot of things, but one she does not do very well made her the most money. Other than being married to her A+++ list celebrity husband. Anyway, she has said previously that she only wants normal sized models to appear in her fashion line. Normal meaning like average people. A person new to her staff did just that and lined up a bunch of normal sized models. Average people. Our celebrity went ballistic and told him that stuff was just for the press and her line would look stupid if they trotted out a bunch of people who looked fat in her clothes and they are made for people size 0-4 so they need size zeros plus one person who is a size four to make themselves look good.

well that is normal to her…

my cousins in England went to high school with her and said she was teased a lot. a few years later when the spice girls came out and they were really big and she was dating David they would see her at the local gym on the treadmill for hours at a time looking deathly ill. Her and David lived with Victorias parents for quite a long time before getting married, even though they were very very rich.

I thought this was revealed. Maybe it was just obvious.

I like that in the modelling world "plus sized" models are the normal looking females. And ppl wonder why all those girls have little to no self-esteem and use drugs?

I thought David was A++++

Well, it makes sense. Reverse the order - say you were someone who designed clothes for sizes 14 and up, and lined up models who were size 0-4 to wear them. The models wouldn't look right, nor would the clothes. In Victoria's world, size 4 is probably what she thinks of as "average".

I can't help it, I like Victoria. She looks fierce but it's quite plain she loves her family, and she's managed to turn a career as a one-off member of a one-off sugar pop group into a career as a fashion designer and celeb. It's not like she's throwing cell phones at Oprah. :b

I've always liked Victoria, too. I am a plus sized girl, but I understand where she's coming from. I just wish she would design for the rest of us!

I also wouldn't say that was too nasty, not the nicest thing I have heard but it doesn't make me hate her. Most designers feel this way, even if they say otherwise.

After Spice World (loved that movie growing up) she dropped a ton of weight. I watched it about a year ago and she looked the healthiest I've ever seen her.

To be honest, I would probably live on a treadmill to sleep with David Beckham every day.

I do have a soft spot for Victoria. She is doing it. Great mother and business woman.
She could very easily have lived her life as a Wag in David's shadow, but followed her passion. She is very good at what she does. And very good to the people who work for her.
She is a grafter.
My man worked with the Spice Girls a lot, back in the day, and she was always good to the crew. He's done a few fashion shows for her too and she is very very hands on.
A good egg.

But she's sure made it up in the world, successful mother, successful business woman so she wins

I'm so glad others are giving her a pass! I think she's real, and also very funny plus this sounds like right before a show and I'm sure she was freaked out enough.

haha yup. My cousins are definitely jealous of her now...even when they would talk about her it was all eye-rolls and arms crossed lol

She's an idiot if she didn't clarify with her staff what she really meant and what she only said for show.

I don't get the love for her, she's so shallow.

This is the least surprising reveal ever.

I wouldn't say David is A+++

I'm not surprised or offended. I love Victoria Beckham.

I like her. She might have been right about the clothes not looking just right; I wouldn't call that "nasty," exactly. Glad to hear the stories that she treats her crew and folks around her well. She totally gets a pass from me.

I'm just curious, not a judgment, if those of you who are plus sized and are not mad at Victoria, were you mad at Abercrombie?

I am not plus sized and I have no problem with either one. I do have a problem with a company who's main buyers are sizes 8-16 marketing with size 0-4 models.

Pegd, well i hv no oroblem with abercrom and fitch cos i dont wear that crap. As for large sizes on smaller models that is annoying but im used to it. But designers shld know, clothes fall differently on diff size wimen.

I can believe she would seriously say this.

I can also believe she would jokingly say this. She is weirdly funny. For real. I know I'm not the only one who saw her failed almost-a-series "Coming to America" or something back in the day. She was constantly messing with people, but quite good at it.

She was a back up singer who married well. How on earth does that earn this nobody A+ status?

As a plus size lady I have complained to a store when they used a non-plused size model in their catalogue. Meant you had no idea how the clothes would look.
I am more pissed off that every item of clothing is cut for pear shapes when I am an apple shape. Means my pants look like clown pants & a dress I bought at the correct size still didn't fit after I lost 10 kilos as the waists was too small.

Unknown said...

And that feraltart is the other reality

5 women can be a Size 8 but they too have vastly different body shapes, one's busty, one's flat, one hourglass, one's boyish figured, one has big booty, another has no booty, etc etc.

When I was younger my dream was to be rich enough to have all my clothes custom made for me- I had read about it in a British romance novel, the usual rags to riches story through great adversity and in England in the 40s and 50s that is what all the upper class women would do. Did not have to be a designer like Oleg Cassini who made some of Jackie O's great suits.

Wouldn't it be great to have all your clothes fit to perfection and also get them to make things in colours and fabrics you want!

Kelly said...

Oh @Feral- Word girl, word. I'm also apple and they simply do not make jeans for us. If I find right size for waist, the legs, butt and hips are HUGE. We should open up a store for apples.

i like vicky too! As far as fashion and modeling, that is just the way it is. Models are meant to be hangers for the most part.

I'm with everyone re Posh. She may not like it, but that is the reality of her business, and if she wants to be successful, then zero sized models it is. She might have also been joking. She has a black sense of humour.

There was a reality show (on E! I think?) when she moved the family to LA ... it was piloted with a couple of series but never got picked up, which I thought was a shame as she was really quite funny and entertaining. Moreso than Kimora Lee Simmons whose show got at least a couple of seasons and was more than a little self-absorbed.

I've heard Victoria is very shy, and untrusting of new people, which comes across as her being snobby.

Many of my male friends think she was drop-dead gorgeous before she dropped all the weight. I tend to agree - she was hardly 'fat', just normal and with a gorgeous round face.

I wonder what Gwen Stefani's take on using 'normal' models is for her L.A.M.B range ... I have a pair of her trousers (well, from her range) - they're so gorgeous ... plain black cigarette trousers, which are a gorgeous cut and always attract compliments. Gwen is amazing :-)

@Derek Harvey - I've heard / read somewhere that she used to get picked on mercilessly as she just didn't fit in. One of the issues was that her father dropped her off to school in his Rolls Royce, which was a rarity at her school

Others have said before that she's not the best singer or dancer in the world, which she knows, but she works incredibly hard at anything she undertakes TO become the best. She seems like an amazing mother - you can tell a lot about someone by their kids and hers always look balanced and happy.

@Renoblondee and @Feral - you guys need to Google "Not Your Daughter's Jeans" - they're amazing! (I don't have any myself, but I have friends who swear by them - real jeans for real shapes).

I have a few choice stories on the Beckhams.
From a very close friend who was a manager at a top london hotel in the 90's
1. When they were first dating David put a champagne bottle up her erm fru fru and the neck broke off inside her. A doctor was discreetly called.
2. In those early years she behaved like a complete diva bitch. Her mother and sister would play the do you know who she is card all the time snd threaten peoples jobs. David on the other hand was always a sweetheart.
Cracking story on the muscles from Brussels but with save that for another day

Red said...

BS! Do you know how hard it is to break a champagne bottle? The glass is extra thick to withstand the bubble pressure & I don't believe any human has the sphincter strength to break one, even playing pretzel.

Really? She chose a champagne bottle over David Beckham??
Sounds like anyone who passed on that story had it in for her.

Would anyone above a size 4 even want to wear Victoria Beckham's line?

Whoever is designing clothes these days would hit a goldmine if they would just design proper fitting clothes for all women. It is so hard for most sized women to find decent fitting clothes. I was out shopping for new work clothes today and it was frustrating.

I guess I'm an "apple", too, (& I live in Reno, as well @Renoblondee). I've had 4 LARGE babies, (2 10 pounders), and as my daughter says, I have "the pooch" from having 4 kids, but I have thin, yet strong, long, muscular legs, and NO butt, and ALL jeans make me look STUPID, because from the butt DOWN, it's ALL baggy! I'm a 12/14, I guess that's "fat girl" sizes...how sad, because when I was growing up, those were NORMAL girl sizes. :(

TeeTee said...

IIRC, the ridic weight loss began after that first baby - not sure if she just became obsessed... but can't help but wonder if that's when David's cheating came to her attn or what - but that's when I remember the ano looking starting, and then the terrible boob job
