This former A+ list mostly movie actress who is still A list and will always be an Academy Award winner/nominee would not give approval to photos that were taken for a photoshoot. She said that they made her face look like she had work done. Of course she just had work done, but didn't want it to look like it.

I wonder who Nicole's public is these days. You know, people who go to a movie because Nicole is in it.
Some great older actresses have a definite public - I know people who will go see anything with Judi Dench, Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep.
And other actresses Nicole's age also have a strong regular audience - see Sandy Bullock.
But who is Nicole's audience? Who identifies with her, the way so many people identify with Sandy? For that matter, what is Nicole's type of film?
Nutty - I won't go out of my way to see a movie just because Nicole is in it (like I would have back in '95 or '96) but she does tend to choose interesting projects to work on and with interesting writers and directors. She could have easily gone the comic-book movie route and made the millions and millions like Gwyneth did but instead she'll choose to do a small movie like The Paperboy for next to nothing. I think that's rather commendable. It all depends on the movie. Loved her in To Die For but Portrait Of A Lady damn near put me in a coma. Interestingly enough Nicole was in Panic Room but had to leave after injuring her ankle, she got replaced by Jodie Foster and the movie was a hit. I think she was also the first choice for Gravity but left that one as well. All to Sandra Bullock's good fortune.

If you're paying for pictures you have a say in how they look. If you're being paid for pictures, it better be in the contract that you have final yea or nay.
