No Olympics For Lindsey Vonn -Next Step Is Dancing With The Stars

As I predicted several weeks ago Lindsey Vonn decided not to compete in Sochi because her knee is "too unstable." Lindsey is following the same pattern established gymnast Shawn Johnson who led the world and the sponsors and especially her sponsors believe she would be competing in the Olympics and only pulled out when it was too late for anyone to do anything. Shawn was miraculously able to compete in the next season of Dancing With The Stars and I suspect Lindsey will do the same.

Lindsey competed in an event a few weeks ago and everyone was filled with high hopes but i was all just for show. She knew that if she took it easy she wouldn't do further damage to her knee and knew in advance she wasn't going to compete in Sochi but it kept sponsors on the hook for just a little longer and also kept those checks for her still coming.

So why is she with Tiger Woods again?

So, this Enty is an orthopedist? Interesting...

She is an amazingly ballsy skier, I don't blame her for not wanting to completely blowing it oot entirely. I think Enty should look up "Projection" as far as ascribing all of her motives to be money-motivated

Good morning Meanie!

I'm no Olympian, but I'm pretty sure that the physical activity on DWTS is much less strenous on your body than Olympic-level gymnastics. It's not like she had to stick landing after landing after landing after landing, etc. while dancing.

If you look at the comments on USAToday's story concerning this, it seems that Ms. Vonn's fans, for now at least, are uniformly of the opinion that her sheer "competitiveness" made her think she would be able to compete at Sochi, injured knee or not. Thirty years ago, I might have felt the same way, but advancing age has made me much more cynical than I used to be, and no doubt a lot of money is involved here in terms of endorsements. That being said, I think that Enty's probably been right on this one all along.

Or, you know, she doesn't want to risk further damage to her knee. Some people really like being able to walk without hobbling.

Do u want credit for making guesses now?lol

Nah. Her knee is in rough shape. There is no way she would be able to ski with the torn ACL and sprained MCL. I've had both.

I'd be more embarrassed about boning Tiger's "blasian" peen.

I can only imagine what her knee feels like. I wake up in pain constantly from not having cartilage in mine (it's a form of muscular dystrophy I was born with. It always bothered me but just in the last few year it's caused me real problems)

Sounds like an unscrupulous individual.

Stunning woman though - reminds me of Malin Akerman.

Not sure if Tiger will let her compete on trash like dwts.

I thought it was Nastia Lukin who made people think she was going to compete but didn't train until the last minute and stunk at trials? I don't recall Shawn Johnson ever saying she was going to compete.

My daughter had 5 hours of surgery 11 months ago for a torn knee tendon and although cleared to return to her sport at 6 months she is still not 100%. It's a long recovery if you want to eventually return to a sport full time. Rushing it just sets you further back. I would wish Vonn well except I question her judgement being with such as scumbag.

Eh, who can blame her? No one wants to lose a check!

Bunch of couch commandos talking about this like they know. That is all i will say.

Sorry to hear that, boo.

LOL, hey there NotAJWiththeSickPuppy, there are athletes on this site! Alexstrtotallygonnamessupyourname and Dave climbed some pretty big mountains recently!

Thank you Robert. I completely agree.

I'm sure it was clear to her long ago that she wasn't going to compete. It may be news to you but not to her. I hope her sponsors make her pay them back or sue her. I hope they get wiser when they draft their contracts with athletes.

I think she knows her knee would give out, and sustaining another crippling injury, on the World podium, would make her pitied, not celebrated as World Medalist-which she is. That said, do you really think Sponsors are not aware of her injuries and the possibility she wouldn't race? C'mon mang-these are some of the World's biggest corporations. They got the time. Easy on the harsh. More of the funny.

Isn't Tiger a tightwad? A woman's gotta make a living.

All this olympic sports shit makes me tired. So pointless and boring. Such a waste of time. Who cares what she does? I have never bought a product because an athelete recommended it, for godsakes.

ENT LAWYER is an idiot. Obviously, it has no experience competing in sports, especially at a high level. ENT LAWYER should yell upstairs to have his mom bring down some more diet soda and cheezits.

In her press statement, Vonn said she won't risk further injury in Sochi & will work to be ready for the World Cup next February. Julia Mancuso is happy, I'm sure.
