Could you put WARNING AUTOPLAY in the headline? Or the first few words?
Oh, wait....
he rules
John Ridley is a a BRILLIANT writer. He wrote U-turn, 3 Kings and some of the finest pulp novels ever. Not to mention he started off as a sitcom writer on and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He's a hero in the writer's rooms this morning.
I believe 3 Kings was based on a story by John Ridley and was extensively re-written by David O' Russell. John also had a major blowout with Oliver stone over U-Turn and pretty much disowned the picture after it was released.
John is a bit prickly to work with. Talented as fuck though.
He and McQueen aren't talking to each other.
The movie should have been funnier.
Msgirl I get that and it was awfully chilly between the two at the Oscars. Wonder what it is about
I actually remember seeing this back in the day.
Jason--I believe he also had it out w/David O. Russell over the Three Kings screenplay, although seeing as one of the first people he ran over to on his way to the stage was DOR, I'm guessing they've buried the hatchet by now. He's also been booted out of the Writers' Guild of America due to crossing picket lines/writing during the strike a few years back, hence why 12YAS didn't get a WGA nomination. Based on what little I've heard, the current kerfuffle is pretty 50/50 as to who's being a jerk, but they did try to keep it fairly low-key before the Oscars.
