Blind Item #5

This B- list mostly television actress from a very hit cable show has been doing press for the new season of the show. The actress, who has had the second most scenes with this B+ list mostly television actress on the show was asked what her favorite thing about the B+ lister was. In a candid moment she said her favorite time was when she didn't have to see her any longer.

Of Mad Men, JJ as the woman she loathes.

Dammit Cleo :-D
What did you eat this morning, Coal? Cause You are on fire!

@Steampunk, been up for 4hrs already. Usually Enty is posting the fashion pics by the time I get up.

Seven of Eleven said...

Huh. The best part of a Mad Man hiatus is not seeing Megan Draper any longer.

Agree that it's Mad Men, but Pare doesn't really have very many scenes with JJ. Meagan and Betty do not really talk, except in extreme circumstances..

But wasn't there another blind that was about Jessica that said her and January get along based on their penchant for married men/casting couches?

Cleo, i Hope this isn't insomnia :-)
But, wow, you're kick in butt!

Female actresses on Mad Men:
Elizabeth Moss
January Jones
Jessica Paré
Kiernan Shipka

My guess is Shipka and Jones.
The kid who was Glen #2 or #3 already explained that Jones was quite distant and stayed in character. Moss and Paré have almost no scenes with Betty Draper (Paré had a couple last season plus maybe some phone calls).
Shipka is definitely the actor with the second most scenes with January Jones, behind Christopher Stanley, who's Henry Francis on the show.

Isn't Christina Hendricks still on the show?

That's what I was about to say, haha!

@Tammy
Sorry, I've left out Hendricks. Like Moss, she's on the SCDP part of the show, which gives her few interactions with January Jones.

Just to be different: Game of Thrones, Lena Heady (B+) and Natalie Dormer (B-).

Ok, dopey question here, but I've always wondered: how many trips to the casting couch does it take for an actress to land and keep a part? I've heard here that JParé regularly bangs Weiner to keep a job that was originally supposed to be a three-ep stint. But is it one good bang and you get the lead? Because for a producer to give a possibly career-making role on the basis of an hour's sexytimes makes the producer look stupid when he could probably get so much more.

And does the importance of the part it matter if the bangee is JLaw or Susie Farmgirl off the bus from Indiana? Sure, a producer gets more brag rights saying he did an Oscar winner. But is the best Susie Farmgirl can expect Random Party-Goer #33? Or would she get some lines at least?

This is a serious question. I obviously don't move in these circles.

I don't think the couch is a one time thing. Especially if it's a big role but I could be wrong.

I would assume banging an oscar winner is a much better "bang" for your buck than Susie Farmgirl off the truck. These guys like bragging rights. Although if Susie Farmgirl turns out to be huge bragging right on being her first casting couch might be bigger but that's a huge gamble.

At least that's the way I see it from different gossip sites I've read.

Based on the totally unscientic recollection of various blinds I would suggest that the casting couch for A+ actresses can be a one/several time thing but for lesser actresses a run of production commitment.

@Erik, Dormer and Headly were the first to come to mind. GoT and Mad Men are the two big cable shows making the rounds with the press for their new seasons

Erik said...

@Nancy I was gonna say Diana Rigg, but she has to be higher than a B+. Then again, she does have a lot more TV credits than I thought...

One of the first TV shows I followed as a kid was The Avengers. I wanted to be Emma Peel aka Diana Rigg complete with the black leather jump suits

Eww...so you can't just bang some creep once and get your script. Oh so glad I missed that part of acting.

+1

Lena is great, but she can be mad crazy. Just check her twitter.

Rutina Wesley and Kristin Bauer Van Straten, Tara and Pam on True Blood

Dormer and Headly will continue to work together into future seasons based on the books and the GoT story line.

Just to be different, Naya Rivera talking about Lea Michelle. She seems like she would be a nightmare to work with.

January Jones is a dark tormented person, you can tell that even from looking at photos of her. For a child like Shipka that can be pretty uncomfortable to be around, kids are sharp at detecting the mood of adults so an adult who is very gloomy is a real downer to them.

Seven of Eleven said...

Well, @Jim Kennedy Summers, if RBF is an indication of being a dark and tormented person, add Wiglet and me to the psych ward waiting list.
