This former A list mostly television actress turned director was on vacation a few weeks ago and apparently a staff member at the hotel where our actress was staying asked our actress about the woman she was traveling with because the woman asked the front desk for a key to the room. Our actress went ballistic. All the staffer wanted to know was whether it was ok to give the woman a key, but our actress started screaming about how the hotel was discriminating against gay couples. The staffer didn't care about any of that, and would have asked the same question if it had been a guy asking because our actress was the only name on the room. Maybe our previously married actress thought she was going to get forced out into the open with her sexuality.

I'm struggling with the sense making today. If she's afraid of being outed, why would she scream at the staffer about discrimination against gay couples? Wouldn't that be outing herself right there?
I'm confused. If I didn't think anyone knew I was gay, why would I immediately jump to discrimination against gay couples?
If I were stopped for oh...running a stop sign, I hope I wouldn't say "What body in whose trunk, officer? And how dare you ask me?!"
Since the entire thing seems nonsensical, I'll assume it's bullsh!t.

Rumors for years and she's probably super sensitive about keeping her privacy. Not enough to give someone a hotel key, though....huh.

While I could buy Helen Hunt, she has been in two very long term relationships with dudes, one marriage, and a 10 yr old. Longoria likes the peen an awfully lot for straight up lesbian, so gotta go with Laverne DeFazio. She's one of the NYC Pride Parade Grand Marshalls this year. Just saw that at Towleroad, yesterday.
...and while checking in, you can notify the front desk people the names of people you want to have a key -- even if they are NOT on the hotel registration! We did this for our kids while traveling.

The only two actresses I associate from switching from acting to directing successfully are Polley and Lake Bell.
Polley wasn't A list TV but is divorced.
Maybe Bell was A during Boston Legal, but she is still married.
Penny Marshall is the only one who fits.

It's Helen Hunt, some pictures were posted of her on vacation last week. Since the birth of her child and the end of her TV show she has been less afraid of showing who she really is.
I can't wait for the day when sexual orientation is no longer a pearl clutching moment. I don't care about others sex lives, sure it clears things up at a mixer but then it's a "who the hell really gives a rats ass?" Not me and my family. Thank The Lord.

Penny but I don't understand how a woman that age wouldn't know the routine at hotels concerning who can get a key to a hotel room. I would like to think that if I asked for a key to Kate Beckinsale's room I would be refused.
