Blind Item #3

Most of the time a show runner is desperate to get their pilot picked up by a network. This time though, the show runner was hoping it wouldn't be. After working with the B list mostly television comic actress with A list name recognition on the pilot and all the demands and attitude during filming, no one was looking forward to working with our actress again. Now that the series has been picked up, the show runner is looking to find another job.

Is Jenny McCarthy doing pilots this year?my bad, book writing and engagement ring have taken up her time.

Called Mysteries of Laura and it looks like it was picked up by NBC.

I like the Heigl guess.

Cary Gaul said...

Heigl is a comic actress?

Kelly said...

Wait she's not mostly TV comedian though. Hmmm

27 dresses and that prenancy movie w Rogen, flop w Gerald Butler. She was kinda funny on Greys first season.

Heigl should not have a job.

Debra Messing for the comic actress, The Mysteries of Laura for the show and Greg Berlanti for the show runner.

Messing is more of a comic actress, one would think. Heigl might be offended by that tag.
I'm investing in phrasing that's probably meaningless.
Sorry for the split posts. Weird office day.

I agree, 7. Messing and Heigel are doing dramas, Cheny is doing a comedy w Matthew Broderick. She has a rep to be verrrry difficult.

I liked Chenowith in GCB. Hate to hear that she is difficult to work with, but that could very well be why she has never managed to crack into TV.

what about SMG and RObin Williams show?

Heigel is so awful at comedy, isn't she? I liked Knocked Up for everyone but her (and Jonah Ew Hill). Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann <3, Jason Segal, and my ginger honey Alan Tyduck.

Can't be Heigl. I know every bitch BI is automatically her, but it doesn't fit. She's not "mostly TV" at this point. She's not a comic actress either. Her big TV role got her an Emmy for drama, not comedy.

it's Heigel. the show runner has quite and a new one is being brought in. Its on deadline

AnothState of Affairs - Season Piloter hot NBC pilot getting a series pickup, the Katherine Heigl-starring drama State Of Affairs. The project, which marks Grey’s Antomy alumna Heigl’s return to TV, is in need of a showrunner as Alexi Hawley, who wrote the original script, has left, and Joe Carnahan, who is getting high marks for rewriting and directing the pilot, is busy with The Blacklist. I hear Tom Szentgyorgyi is eyed for the job if The Mentalist is not renewed, which appears likely.

Heigl for sure.

What about Anna Farris. But I hope not. I want to like her but that show stinks

Aeol said...

Actors get fired from pilots all the time. I don't get why they wouldn't just axe her.

humble1 said...

@Aeol many pilots are cast contingent so it most likely got made because Heigel was onboard. I have been at many studios and they are very tone deaf to the rest of the world. heigel is a name and that is all they care about. also, its all about politics. who knows what execs she is sleeping with to get it to series.

Heigl new show isn't a comedy, it's a CIA drama.

My first thought was Debra Messing and I stink at these blinds. She thinks she's the second coming of Lucille Ball. Dream on Coke Mom!But apparently those in the know say Hiegl.

MazD..I love "Mom". Allison Janey is wonderful on it.

Heigl did comedy as a movie actress though not on TV unless you consider Grey's Anatomy comedy, I think of it as a drama with some humour sprinkled in or a soap opera but not a comedy.

Unknown said...

And she has certainly done more movies than TV at this point.

Sarah Silverman? I can't imagine her being a pain though.

I got to be part of a focus group for State of Affairs and it was pretty darn good. Alfre Woodard plays the president. It was intense, engaging, etc. I can't stand Heigl, but I'm hoping it gets on the schedule on a channel I currently have. Dying to see the second episode and adore Alfre

does anyone else think that Sara Silverman & Michael Sheen an odd couple? why does Kristen c.have such a bad rep.i just know of her from Wicked-was she a diva? & on some other show she got badly injured when a prop fell on her head.

NJ FireFighter said...

@scarletscout I think anyone Michael Sheen has been with appears out of his league. Not knowing him personally, I couldn't quite figure out how he has been with this string of beautiful women. However, a timely article appeared today that attempts to explain his appeal.

Michael Sheen as a Sex Symbol

I love Michael Sheen. Brilliant thespian.

I don't think Heigle, Coke Mom (whatever her name is), Silverman, SMG, Jenny McCarthy, Jenna Elfman, Chelsea Handler, any of the chicks from the Bridesmaids movie, are the least bit funny. Chenowith is only funny as a sidekick, but not in a lead role. Love Leslie Mann!

Unknown said...

This sounds like Messy.

@Sherry I watched an episode of Mom for the first time the other night and I thought Allison Janney was really good. She's got great comedic timing. I was distracted by the fact that her look seems to be almost identical to Katey Sagal's on SOA.
