Oh right, sorry, I bet the less gunshot-sounding things the better.

War movies? Like, recent war movies or WWII movies? Or WWI movies - All Quiet on the Western Front? The Big Parade?

I think my favorite war movie is 'Three Kings', starring George Clooney, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze as three less-than-admirable soldiers during the first Gulf War.

Re: future war movies, Cruise's 'Edge of Tomorrow' is getting fantastic reviews. It's at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 98% 'want to see' audience rating. It's supposed to be really funny - his character is a jerk-off military communications guy who's forced to actually fight.

I love Three Kings, Nutty! 3 of my favourite crushes at the time and wickedly funny

@TTM, glad to hear someone else likes and remembers it! It doesn't get mentioned much....and less than David O. Russell's other 1994-2004 movies, which I don't think are as good.

Three Kings is Great! Very well done. But the graphic bit about what happens when you get shot still haunts me.

It was one of those odd coincidences that I ended up watching it several times, really liked it. Same with another Mark Wahlberg movie around that time,The Big Hit

TalksTooMuch said...

It was almost like a precursor to CSI, right, TNC? Cool but hella gross

I love the classic WWII movies. Those stars are dreamy. Even the ugly ones.

Yes! Gnarly. And now I always think about it when some action hero gets shot 8 times and keeps going. I guess we can't ALL be as awesome as Mel Gibson.

Mine has consisted of two boxes of tissues and LOTS of phlegm. I've been sick all weekend. Pity me.

I shaved my head for childhood cancer research this weekend. :)

NaughtyNurse said...

Stealing my thunder, IDoTheRobot? Nice. Seriously, though…good on you!!

IDoTheRobot said...

Aww no! I'm sorry you're sick :( I'm sending you good vibes and well wishes <3

NaughtyNurse said...

Thanks! ;-) I'm getting NO sympathy in my own house, so I have to fish here for it! LOL!

When is Ginnifer Goodwin going to have that baby already?

Sick at home as well, lost my voice. I'm using it as an excuse to hunker down and finish Season 8 of Dexter. Also watched 1st 2 seasons of Six Feet Under. It's a lot of Michael C Hall, for sure.

And to keep my energy up, I'm working on finishing all of the coffee Haagen Dazs in the house, like it's my full time job.

Add in Italian Ice and I had the same weekend.

I loved Three Kings, too! These three kings are stealing the gold...

Hurt Locker is the number one reason I refuse to entertain any rumour about Jeremy Renner.

Oh and the story behind it.

On the Arizona desert set, tempers flared when Russell demonstrated how he wanted an extra to throw an actor to the ground. He did it with such enthusiasm that Clooney stepped in in the actor's defense.

In a Playboy interview the following year, Clooney said he attempted to cool down the situation, which led to Russell exploding: "Why don't you just worry about your f*cing acting?! ... You want to hit me? Come on, hit me." Russell then grabbed Clooney by the throat, and the actor admitted he "went nuts" on the director.

Naughty, Meauxelle, Count (you sick too, besides the usual?) feel better. What a sucky way to spend a long weekend.

If anyone gets a chance to watch an appropriate Memorial Day movie, may I suggest Taking Chance with Kevin Bacon and a side order of tissues.

NaughtyNurse said...

Meauxelle, mine started with me losing my voice, then it turned into a monster of a cold type of thing with loads of head and chest congestion. Hoping I don't wind up with pneumonia from it! Cough it out!!

TalksTooMuch said...

I remember that, Seven! Didn't Clooney say something like "c'mon, p&^/y" while beckoning him over with his fingers? I love my George.

TalksTooMuch said...

Atta girl,Meauxelle! You should totally also go vote on book club, you haven't been for awhile and today is the last day to vote! Happy Häagen Daas day!

TalksTooMuch said...

That's awesome, iDo, good for you chickie!

Buddy Bones Smith said...

Thanks, TTM, I'll check it out!

Just chillin' by the pool.

@Naughty-luckily, I already had a Dr. app't scheduled for Friday, so I had my usual dose of steroids and antibiotics poised to attack the funk.

I hope you (and the Count) feel better soon!

Be damned the Bryan Singer scandal. I went to Xmen. Just to soak in Nicholas Hoult. They tried to ugly him up. But it didn't work.

NaughtyNurse said...

Aw, B626, Nicholas will always be the awkward little boy in About a Boy to me!!! So sweet!

TalksTooMuch said...

Dang, that's FANCY poutine, Becky! There's a Newfoundlander version that is soooooo much less cool; it has hamburger meat and stuffing. Plus the cheese curds and gravy. It's disgusting. But yours sounds delicious!

BeckyMae said...

Yep, and it $19 it's really fancy! Here's a pic

 Hartsyard Poutine Goodness

TalksTooMuch said...

Guuuuuuurl, you paid $19 for POUTINE?? Now that does look fancy, but it also looks like it has hair, so wow!

BeckyMae said...

Yeah the restaurant is reasonably fancy... It has a chefs hat which is like a Michelin star. Food is also pretty expensive here generally but I think this was the King of Poutines...
