#3 - Kindness- This former almost A list mostly television actor was on a very long running network hit which was an extension of another long running network show. It has been mostly plays since the show ended for our actor, but he is still an amazingly nice guy. For every show he is in on Broadway he always has ten to fifteen tickets he pays for out of his own pocket for children and teens in drama classes to come to the show. He then meets with each group for an hour after each show. Just a really nice guy.

He is a nice fella. I remember an article People posted years back, as far as I could tell was JUST to tell the world he had a longtime male companion. As though that was a big deal for Niles Crane. Like whatever

I always wondered how this classy GQ mother fucker ever put up with Kelsey Grammer for so long. DHP is just a darling.
I enjoyed him in "Down With Love."
I always get the impression that Daphne, Martin, Ros and Niles remained good friends after Frasier ended. But not so much Kelsey. Or maybe I just made that up. Def Ros and Daphne cos I follow them on twitter.
Obviously I mean the actors not the characters.
The actors who actually went to college & struggeled in NY theater seem to be the nicest when they do get success.
MY LOVE. I adore him. And Violet, Jane Leeves has David and John Mahoney as godfathers of her son and I believe her and Peri Gilpin are godmothers to each other's daughters, plus they're neighbors or live very close to each other. Kelsey is the only one who hasn't been asked to godfather a Frasier child, so I think you're right.
I love him. Nice to see him encouraging young kids to stick with the arts.

It's very telling when a show or movie series is done who still is involved in each other lives, 90210 weddings & events Doherty was never invited, but all the others were, Twilight events, Stewart is never invited.
How lovely! What a difference he has likely made in all of those children's lives :) Take note countless self-absorbed, egomaniacal, narcissistic celebs: It's SO much easier and rewarding to be kind rather than an a**hole.
He was fantastic in Spamalot. Saw him on B'way with Tim Curry. He ROCKS.

@WritergirlinLa-I was going to say the same thing. When DHP made his entrance, the crowd went nuts.
I was a drama major in college and did a semester in London in my university's theater program over there. I had some amazingly memorable moments with great actors who really took the time to engage young theater students -
Casual interactions with Joe Morton and Ian Holm;
Dame Judi Dench took the time to meet with my class backstage after a performance;
We invited Adrian Lester and Alan Rickman to give a lecture and they both came to our school and stayed for hours. This was in 2001 when the first Harry Potter movie was about to come out, but Alan Rickman was the kindest, most generous guy you could imagine. They were all great, really, but the time with Rickman was unforgettable.
Awesome, and not surprising. Anyone remember that short-lived ensemble show he did, "The Powers That Be"? I think John Forsythe and Holland Taylor might have been on it as well. That's the first time I remember seeing him, and he was funny as hell as the depressed son-in-law.

I have heard so many great fan stories about Rickman and then I met someone who actually worked with him on a movie he directed and said the same thing, the guy is just a wonderful man. My fav fan story was a college student who heard that whilst he was doing a play in NYC he frequented the same Starbucks around the same time everyday so she went there a couple days in a row no luck, just wanted to catch a look at him not bothering him or anything. Then the next day she just got her coffee and was going to put sugar in it, must have been one of those pour in containers, and in comes AR and another man, and she is starstruck in Starbucks, and he comes up behind her and said "did you want any coffee with that sugar", she had been pouring in the sugar without noticing how much and she just turned beet red and went to her table. A few days later, she was there at a table studying and he came in again, and after he got his coffee or whatever, came up to her table with a couple of packets of sugar and said "I thought you might need these." And went off about his day. That to me would be more priceless than any autograph or selfie + celeb.

I second the "Down With Love" love. I adore those early 1960's glossy sex comedies starring Jack Lemmon, Tony Randall, Shirley MacLaine, James Garner, Natalie Wood, etc.... that they were sending up in "Down With Love". The ultimate is the black widow comedy "What A Way To Go".

Tara, Kelsey G. isn't godfather to anyone else's kids because he's too busy fathering his own so he can ignore them in a few years when he divorces their mother.
I passed him on the street years ago in New York and he was beaming. He looked so incredibly happy that there was a literal pep in his step. He was all alone and I think he was humming. He glanced my way and smiled. I'll always remember it. To this day I try to live my life in that same happy place.

What Pierce and Rickman have in common is the basic humility required to recognise there are no small parts, just small actors.

I've always heard only good things about DHP. Frasier is one of my all time favorite shows, and I liked it way more than Cheers. It never seemed like a spin off to me, and I always forget that it was.
Trying to commit suicide via curtain & only succeeding in opening the curtains - priceless!!
