Peaches Geldof Died Of Heroin Overdose

The coroner responsible for determining the cause of death of Peaches Geldof who died back in April says she died of a heroin overdose. He reported that she had been taking methadone for the last two p;us years of her life and that she had puncture wounds on her thumbs and wrists. Contrary to earlier reports stating there were no drugs found in the home, police say they discovered almost seven grams of heroin in her house. The levels of heroin were in the lethal range, but no evidence she planned on committing suicide.

Why puncture wounds on her thumbs? It's still sad anyway.

Poor girl, staying sober is hard Ya'll.
Once that monkey controls your thoughts, nothing else matters, not family, not reputation, nothing.
Poor girl, I'm sorry you didn't make it.

I think he means thighs...Daily fail is reporting that they were on her thighs....not thumbs.....

Thanks Sandy. Feet are a subtle shade of pink rather than angry lobster red now. Not saying they're attractive but slightly less revolting.

Heroin scares the shit out of me. Absolutely no desire, ever, to try.

Scarring can bitch finding veins, they collapse and users have to find secondary and even tertiary veins to use.
Morning Violet!
Morning Sandy!

I thought we established this already

Violet said...

Ha Becky. I was looking at my thumbs trying to find appropriate veins to inject drugs into. Staring at thumbs whilst at work is not a good look.

Rosemary Young said...

Thought this had already been reported?

morning steamy any nudity in the movie last night?

Beetlejuice said...

I hope her children are being cared for properly.

Steampunk Jazz said...

But Lotta, this is the CORONER'S Report! The rest was everyone around her confirming the facts and the Preliminary autopsy. This is the Final Word! : D

Beetlejuice said...

Ouch Violet, your feet look worse than FSPs avi. Hope you get some relief soon!

LottaColada said...

@Steampunk - sheesh. So many stories!

where is the news?
we yet knew she's died of heroin overdose
according to DM,the heroin found at her home was of very very good quality and she was under methadone since 2 1/2 years. She made weekly drug tests whom she said negative to her husband but he thinks now she lied. She said him also she wanted to reduce methadone but it was difficult.Apparently in nov 2013,she was heroin free.
According to the coroner, she took heroin but it was recent and her tolerence to drug declined :it's why she did an overdose

Thats very common with former users, they quit the drug and decide to do it again and use the same amount they did before and it usually ends in an overdose. Lost way too many friends that way.

Good Lord, Violet, what did you do to your feet?

Violet said...

Oh god. They're really awful aren't they? Sun cream negligence. Who'd have thought it in rainy England ?

Count Jerkula said...

Gonna be sad when her children are older and seek out heroin to see why mommy loved it more than them.

Count - Paula loved heroin more than her girls :(

sad

My mother's half Danish and we live in Calfornia. I totally get it. It's just usually the noses in our family. Even my evil little sister who could get a tan line in ten minutes gets sun poisoning on her nose.

Beetlejuice said...

My ears and feet always get burned even with sunscreen. Half Dutch half Irish here. No tan lines ever!

Meanie Rhysie said...

Omfg, Violet! o.O That looks so painful, I'm wincing in sympathy!

I'm a pale-y, too. Pale-y's unite! With sunscreen!

Addiction is a cunt.

Rest in peace. You finally got the monkey!!!!!!!

Trilby said...

OMG, OUCH!!! Another pale-y here... Mix apple cider vinegar (about 1 pint) in a tub full of cool water and soak feet. Or steep tea in a foot bath of hot water, tgen pour in some cold water and soak them. The acids in the vinegar &/or the tannins in the teas take the redness and sting out. Then use pure aloe.

Sass71 said...

Oh Violet, you poor thing. Paleys unite! And take Trilby's advice.

Rosemary Young said...

If Peaches was taking methadone for 2.5 years prior to her death, that means she was using it during both her pregnancies. Is that safe? Was she under medical supervision?

ethorne said...

@Count- I was just thinking the same. 2 generations are bad enough, I hope it's not 3.

Seven of Eleven said...

Not a surprise but still sad. And yes, her kids were so young, I hope Dad has help.

Gayeld said...

@Ray, I have just a little tiny sliver of Native American from my father's side, so I burn and then have a tan after I peel. Not worth it.

rajahcat said...

sad but hardly unexpected

didn't believe the original news about no drugs and no drugs found

obvi her family wanted to cover somewhat

I am also Irish, Dutch, Welsh descent. No sun for me. Ever. It never ends well.....

Brenda L said...

I'm so sorry, I liked Peaches, and I was really pulling for her.

Violet said...

I only burnt them so I could show them off on an internet gossip site and be validated by the outpouring of sympathy from strangers.
But honestly they're not (quite) as sore as they look.

Stellina said...

It wouldn't surprise me if she was exposed to heroin in utero.

FearN said...

Heroin and methadone don't affect babies as badly as the media portrays. She was probably on high class stuff and under the care of a doctor so I bet the babies are ok.

Unknown said...

No surprise. It's what some people said the day she died while some other people gave them shit about saying it.

Jon said...

I feel no sympathy for her at all. She did this in front of her kids and now they are without a mother. Ridiculously irresponsible and selfish behavior that doesn't deserve sympathy.

Gayeld said...

Actually, yes, they do effect babies badly. Especially if the mothers were taking high doses. My sister took methadone all through her last pregnancy, the baby had to spend 8 weeks in the hospital, in pain, being detoxed. The doctors were afraid she wasn't going to survive for the first couple weeks.

FearN said...

I was waiting for someone to refute me. I am in no means supporting drug use, at all, period.

The detox part is incredibly difficult on babies just like it is with adults. After they safely get out of that phase some end up just fine and some have issues. The range varies. It seems like peaches was under the care of a doctor, and if they stopped letting her use methadone during her pregnancy the withdrawal symptoms would have hurt the developing baby much more than letting her carry on. They detoxed the baby after delivery most likely. Babies are resilient and can endure, it's the will to survive. Obviously allowing a baby to develop in an addict is not ideal but babies survive and turn out okay. Not spectacular and not shitty, somewhere in the middle. And some end up like peaches, with a predisposition to addiction.

I can still remember the hate that reigned down on the day the story broke for anyone that even suggested that she probably OD'ed and didn't rave about what a brave person she was. I know that generally happens here but please remember this the next time a 'reformed' heroin addict dies mysteriously.

Count Jerkula said...

+1, Texas.

Unknown said...

What about the fact the kids are more prone to depression in later life, lower intelligence, asthma etc etc etc

FearN said...

It's not ideal but these kids have
*a* chance. No one wants to put their kids in this situation but it happens. I try to be hopeful and positive with their moms, a little positivity goes a long way instead of constantly beating down the moms who have birthed kids through their addictions and then recovered. They have to live day to day, so it's okay to say 'things will be okay' instead if subscribing to a vision of doom.

rajahcat said...

well not doom but a reason to be cautious and forewarned about the possibilities of predisposition-no?

nothing wrong with talking about it-only real chance of battling it and dealing with it

Unknown said...

How about if you want to drink and drug - get your tubes tied or a vasectomy for fucks sake! That's what pisses me off about ALL addicted breeders. If you cannot put the pipe, bottle or needle down, you have zero business procreating. You can't love your monkey AND your babies. Take your pick but please don't do both.

This goes for all (life disrupting) addictions too. If you can't keep it in your pants, can't stop gambling, whatever. If you have something (beyond your love for your family) dangerously controlling your life - don't reproduce. It seems like a fairly obvious and simple rule to live by. Peaches had no business getting pregnant to begin with. Period.

I'm almost positive the family asked that the discovery of heroin in the house not be released, in order to get the public funeral and lovely outpouring of emotion out of the way.

People are less likely to be praising her in her passing if they knew the truth. And it gave the family a chance to remember her in the way they wanted, not be dealing with the shame of a junkie.

auntliddy said...

Sus, her being an addict, and pretty bad from what ive read- in no way negates all her good qualities. Let her family remember her as they wish, remembering her, not the drug addict.
