Yes, it was a white blanket with satin trim, with animals on it in pink and blue, and I know it made it to kindergarden nap time. Can't remember thereafter what happened to it.

I had a stuffed cat named Ikie (after our cat Ike, who was named after Dwight Eisenhower) and a stuffed dog named Barfy.

V jr 3 has Noo Noo. A rabbit head attached to a square of material. Quite horrible really. Noo Noo is 8. The day Noo Noo goes is the day that childhood dies in this house. Dramatic.

I kept my childhood teddy bear until my granddaughter was born ... now he's with her - hopefully, he's going to be passed down to her children.

I had a clown made from a sock. My grandmother bought it at a Church bazaar. I still have it but not 100% sure where it is. Its mostly just a stuffed sock now....

Kristin Today is not a death day even though it is all over Tv right now :(

Nope. Neither did my sister. Neither does my kid. But my sister's two oldest had blankets that were just nasty and unrecognizable by the time they were done with them. My friend's son had about 15 of the same blanket. We kept one everywhere the kid went.

Ot: Elaine Stritch a very very famous Broadway actress died this morning.

D, I think after having to deal with this crew for so long, Enty has developed a major drinking problem. It would explain a lot of things, like the existence of most posts.

It's obviously a cry for help. But so long as Enty isn't asking if we've ever pictured smothering our memaws, I say you just take Enty into your bosom and tell him about your blankie, Derek.

Kristin Wigs said...

Oh thanks Sandybrook. We all needed that.

I loved her in twos company with Donald Sinden way back in the 70s. She seemed old even back then.

I always laugh when I read your posts. I always imagine you sound like Joanna Lumley from AbFab! I hope that doesn't offend

TalksTooMuch said...

Well of COURSE sandy's on death watch, he's in Florida!

I had a blanket I was very attached to until I was around 10. It had a huge hole in the middle so my mother threw it away when I wasn't looking. lol

I carry my blankie everywhere. It comes in handy when I need to give my infant to a stranger so I can sit on a park bench and cry.

sandybrook said...

Heyy we ain't all old down here.....

Violet said...

No offence at all. I'm honoured! Oh that I did sound like the wonderful ms lumley.

Tillie said...

Well you do in my mind!

My mother does sound a little like the Queen though. Seriously.

I had a blanket my mom knitted me that I adored. Around when I was 5ish mom said let's put this away in your hope chest so you can have it forever.
She was right.
Still have it.

I still have my teddy bear from when I was a kid. I also have the afghan my great-grandma made for me when I was a newborn. She purposely made it big so I could use it beyond my childhood and I'm glad she did. I use it to this day.

There is no judgment there, sandy. Only a basic knowledge of retirement areas

I had a Mrs. Beasley doll that I just loved. My mother, being wonderful but not at all sentimental, did not save it for me. My wonderful boyfriend went online & got me one with the original voice (not the Cheryl Ladd voice from today-ugh!) for Christmas! Made me cry.

I have a purple stuffed bunny that my aunt bought me when I was little. My grandma wouldn't buy it for me so my aunt did. I carried it everywhere, and now it's in storage. I'd like to give it to my neice someday.

HRHKMiddz said...

Yep, my grandma made it when I was born in 79. My son inherited it when he was born, and he still has it. He's 17. I presume his child will get it when the time comes.

HRHKMiddz said...

And I still have my fantastic Scooby Doo doll from when I was 3. He's older than my husband and has more sayso around my house.

I had a blanket but my mom's husband hated it and he purposely left in in CA, when we moved back to our home state. He was a cunt.

I'm waiting for Childhood Blanky to weigh in! If ever there was a question custom made...

i had a favorite pillow, no name for it, it was filled with goose feathers (goose down?). anyway i took it with me for a sleep over and we started to pillow fight i wound up being ostracized because my pillow was "too hard". whilst laying on it, it was the softest thing ever but swinging it at an opponents face it was deadly. they started calling my pillow ROCK PILLOW. i was so hurt. i loved that pillow. i was only able to re-join the pillow fight with another pillow.

I had my first brother when I was 11 months old, followed by five more, and a sister. Never needed a blankie or a lovie. I always had a baby to love on.

CowJam said...

My brother died of cancer at the age of 6. I kept his cowboy blankie. I live on the other side of the world now. It was 50 years ago when he passed away, and I still cherish his blanket.

@Tillie -glad u brought this up, it's cute. I don't know who Lumkey is.

But I'm always thinking V sounds like Daphne Moon. SHE WAS SOOO DARN CUTE on that show.

My Yorshire Terrier always says, "I'm a Yorkshire Terreeeeeah, and I have mah papers!" in the Queens dialect. (Even tho I know her dialect is Cockney.)

Us Yanks will forever be charmed by English accents.
