Your Turn

Tim McGraw slapped a woman in the face after she appears to reach for his junk. She ended up ripping his pants. Was he justified?

That was really hard to tell what happened. I couldn't follow.

If it was the other way around is it justified?

ladybaus said...

That is sexual assault
I normally agree with never hit a woman but this is a shady grey area---woman can be gross
Ive had that happen to me and yeah I shoved her--you gotta protect yourself against assault at all costs

Looked to me like she was grabbing his thigh. But he seemed to just swat her away.. it's not like he decked her or anything. If he felt his security was threatened then yes swatting her away is okay.

If a man had grabbed a woman's vag though, but still, he shouldn't have smacked her in the head at all. Was it pure reflex? I'm really over thinking this. Sigh.

haydnhorse said...

I would smack a bloke if he touched me in private area - it's fair for him to do the same

sandybrook said...

Hes gone off before on audiences hasn't he? He really should have let the stagehands deal with her.

CamColty said...

I dunno guys. If some horny old broad grabbed at my mans penis I'd be all for him smackin her backwards

Groggy said...

That qualifies as a smack?

sifichick said...

If she was actually reaching for his junk then he's justified in swatting her away. That is sexual assault.

That being said 1. I don't think she was reaching for his junk. Looked more like she just wanted to touch anywhere she could. 2. If you don't want the fans to touch you at all then don't go in a spot where that's possible. People have no tact or boundaries these days.

I thought Faith did the junk protecting in that fam?

BlondeB said...

Completely justified, you just don't grab someone's private area, it's a violation, doesn't matter if it's a man doing it or a woman.

Yes, he should've slapped her. I hate this crap that says a man shouldn't hit a woman. True a man shouldn't put his hands a woman or anyone else for that matter but If she puts her hands on him he's justified in my opinion.

Sexual Assault is sexual assault regardless of male, female, waitress waiter, doctor, or entertainer.

he may have been swatting her hand away but sorry justified.

if some man reached for my female "junk" i'd belt the fucker a good one even if just a side swipe to the knee.

My Dad used to tell my brothers "Gentlmen don't hit ladies." My Mom would go behind him and tell them "Ladies don't hit gentlemen; if she hits you first, she's no lady, you hit her right back." My Mom is Jersey-born and bred. But then, so was my Dad. . .

It looked to me like she was grabbing his pants which is why they ripped, and should have been stopped by the roadies before she did. Since they didn't get to her soon enough, yeah, I think he was justified slapping her.

Roid. Rage.. no good

malcam66 said...

yeah he should have slapped her. i hate when women use that "never hit a woman thing" after the pull some crap. They think it should allow them to do whatever they want scott free.

Karen said...

@sifichick, I respectfully disagree. To say that he shouldn't stand there puts the onus on him when it should be on her. She's the one being inappropriate. A woman shouldn't expect to be grabbed just because she's standing near people "because people have no tact or boundaries" and neither should a man expect it.

If she *was* reaching for his junk, that's just trashy. Keep your hands to yourself, lady!

hothotheat said...

Justified. For one thing she grabs him twice. Once his jeans, second time she's going for his junk. He apparently has this happen a lot.

Also, the slap could have also been him showing security who to remove.

Eros said...

Yes it was justified. From a legalistic aspect, this could be looked at as a defense mechanism since he didn't rightfully know the intentions of the woman.

Jessi said...

I see nothing wrong with slapping the inappropriate woman. Hands off! Especially his wiener!

angie said...

She inappropriately invaded his space in the middle of a performance
so he just swatted her away like the anything-but-a-lady pest that she is.

Act like a dirty old man, get treated like one.

Would a woman be justified in slapping a man who grabbed her in the same area or better yet kicking him in the balls?

Dude could use some stronger threads ....and a pope mobile.

Didn't watch. But if some desperado groped my man, she'd be missing a hand.

Beetlejuice said...

Groping on someone elses man is so basic.

Pip said...

She was grabbing onto his leg and trying to get to his junk. The swat was reactionary. I would do the same if someone tried to grab me.

crila16 said...

WTF??? You never ever hit a woman. Not ever if you're a man.

Didn't Faith already warn the world a few years ago, not to grab at her man? This woman wasn't listening. Still no excuse to hit her. He should send Faith after her. Faith will rip her throat out.

ItsCourtneyD said...

That was hardly a ferocious slap. Sorry. You put your hands on someone, you better be fully prepared to deal with what happens next. Guy or girl. Rich or poor. She'd be screaming foul if the tables were turned. Better question: is there a lawsuit yet?

It's hard to see but she didn't "reach for his junk", she reached for his pants, like to touch him. He swung around and whacked her upside the head and the gave a WTF hand to her, and then security escorted her out.

If she was grabbing his crotch and he swatted her away, I could see it. But that's not what appears to have happened.

Doesn't Tim McGraw profess to be a Christian? I wonder if he remembers that part of the Bible where a woman touched Jesus' robe and, um, wasn't smacked for it.

digal704 said...

I agree! If she hits him first he should hit her back

digal704 said...

I agree with your mom!

Sherry said...

The video was removed before I could see it.

Swatting her away is okay and perhaps it was just a gut reaction. Maybe he wasn't even aware it was a woman just a hand coming at him. Somehow I feel like if a man was the culprit others wouldn't be so stringent about the punishment.

And what is it with people who think every part of the performer is theirs to grab? Insane!

Diana said...

The only women who go around proclaiming that it is never okay to hit a woman are the women who go around hitting men or sexually assaulting them. Smack the bitch - she obviously, desperately needs it.

Tyler said...

I agree with Pip - she startled him and his swat was reactionary. No time to think about the Bible or the gender of the offender. She's the one with boundary issues - not Tim.

witwritergirl said...

Totally agree with your mom! If you're the first one to hit, you'd better be prepared for what happens next.

Amartel said...

Justified. You don't hit a lady because a lady would not assault a gentleman but it's open season on swarms of handsy swamp donkeys.
All the "never hit a lady" comments are delusional. What, you think you get a free pass no matter what? Are you kidding?

Why isn't he in jail? Apparently American law system is different than the one we suffer here, where if a dude is seen slapping a female, he is inmediately arrested, more after he is recorded doing it.

At least you have a good thing, US.

Yes, he was justified!! He slapped a bitch who sexually assaulted him. If the sexes were reversed, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

auntliddy said...

I read she wldnt let go of his leg, and i guess he reactively slapped her. I think the ship has sailed on the whole a man doesnt hit a lady when said lady is rummaging around in your gential area.

TheBarberLady said...

Why is this even a question? Of course he was justified! If a strange man came that close to touching my private parts OR my thigh he'd get decked.

PJ said...

If you believe in gender equality, then it applies across the board. Attempting to grab a man's genetalia without his express wishes and against his will is sexual assault. Tim had every right to defend himself from his attacker, regardless of gender. (If the tables were turned would you feel the same way?)

PJ said...

I 1000% agree with everything you've said here @sugarbread. People who are of the belief that men and boys should not have the right to defend themselves against attackers as long as it's a female violating their physical safety are perpetuating one of the last socially acceptable- and one of the most absurd and hypocritical-forms of sexism. I would never raise a son to believe that females can do as the like to his body and he just has to take it or quietly walk away. What a world!

TLP said...

I think if anyone is coming at you, you have the right to defend yourself. Bet this lady lacking boun daries will sue soon. Maybe a setup.

Unknown said...

He was slapping away a sexual assault, so sure he should have hit her away. The woman was trying to expose his crotch to thousands of people, she ripped his jeans for God's sake. If he was a woman he'd have certainly be commended for slapping her attacker. Keep it real, you can't have it only one way, fighting of a sexual attack is just as violating for a man as a woman. Personally I would have kicked her in the face and I'm a woman, nobody has the right to touch anyone in that manner, EVER without their permission. Ripping the crotch area of a performer is not part of what a ticket entitles a concert goer. Like I said she deserved to have her face kicked in for doing that to him. Just like a man who did that to a female performer.

Unknown said...

I think anyone has the right to repel a physical attack. It's putting rather too fine a point on things to say that men not only must never beat women they should let themselves be attacked by any woman who fancies doing so without having any right to defend themselves.

RowdyRodimus said...

If women are still complaining that they don't have the same rights as men (I am not accusing anyone here of that mind you) then they need to realize that it also comes with the caveat that you are treated the same as a man in EVERYTHING you do. That includes maybe getting hit when you attack someone.
