I still feel just stunned and sad about this.

This one stings so, so badly. I woke up today and literally my first thought was, "Robin Williams DID die yesterday." Hard to process.

I'm tearing up now just watching this. I feel like he was part of my family. He made such a huge positive impact on the world. He will forever be immortalized on film, and my kids and I will never forget him. So terribly, terribly heartbreaking.

Yup, that photo at the end made me cry.

@AKM, I woke up twice, once when my husband got home and again when my alarm went off, and both times I had the same thought as you. I can't believe he's gone. :(

I saw this earlier and was there even an audience? There should have been audible gasps at that taping. So gutted. RIP Robin Williams.

I also found it sad that so many commenters talked about their own issues with depression. Some of those commenters have been the most vicious people on this thread! Maybe we can use this time to think about how people have gone out of their way to hurt each other's feelings and try to be more civil in the future?

Tillie said...

Sorry, not this specific thread but this site. This is my plea to everyone to stop the toxic behavior. Be civil to each other because we don't know what people are going through when they're alone :)

Tillie, that's a really nice idea and your heart is in the right place, but we all know that's never gonna happen. You might get 3-4 days of civil behavior until the shit starts again.

All day, there is a little voice running in my head, saying " robinwilliamsisdeadrobinwilliamsisdeadrobinwilliamsisdead". It is surprisingly affecting.

Me too @Paris

I can't even put into words how this makes me feel

Depression is terrible - it kills slowly and silently

RIP RW

It just bewilders me that people try so hard to hurt another's feelings and then talk so compassionately about a family member's (or their own) depression. It just doesn't make sense!

AKM said...

Tillie, if I may...having been on both sides of that toxic behavior, both here and in real life, all I can tell you is that hurt people hurt people. That's alls I gots today. It's a crappy excuse, and I'm not saying I condone it, but...yeah. :-/

For those of you who read this blog and can make this happen...I just wanted to put this out there:

In honor of the multifaceted performer Robin Williams was, I hope on of the TV or Movie Academies out there considers establishing an award in his name to present to current and future successful and expandable performers such as the one he was.

I don't think there is anyone in this world that does not know his name or has seen his work in one form or another.

Robin Williams truly conquered various genres in his art form with such passion, inspiration and humor, that he deserves life-long recognition. Some of the areas he unleashed his talent on where TV, movies, Broadway, stand-up, animation and music. He also lent his time, energy and persona to charities and military support.

It would be great for future generations to be presented with the 'Robin Williams Award'.

His memory and efforts to make us all laugh, cry or wonder should continue to live on in the form of an amazing tribute. For he was much loved by all ages despite his personal battles with addiction and depression.

I would like to petition this or request it via social media. Won't you make it happen if you can?

It was my first thought when I woke up this morning. It's like we lost that funny uncle who always made the family gatherings so happy.

This just sucks.

Land Manatee..First of all nice to see you again. And second, I agree. There should be an award in his name. Hope the Academy of Arts and Sciences or at the very least SAG feel the same.

Tillie..Maybe now we understand why those who strike out at others act the way they do. It's up to us to react with kindness whenever possible. Sometimes people may come across as saying something other than what was intended. I've done it myself and had to explain the meaning behind my words without getting defensive. People have been nice enough to understand and apologize for coming across rudely too or accept my sincere apologies.

There are still a lot of very nice people who post here.

I agree Sherry about nice people posting here, but there are also some nice people who haven't been treated so well or are afraid to comment because they have seen the acid remarks from people. This site used to be really relaxing and a nice outlet for people and I just wish it could go back to that instead of the sniping.

Hi Sherry! Thanks for your sweet words and noticing when I come around. :) Sending you warm hugs and positive energy on such a sad day.

FYI - I have begun a call out to various actors petitioning them to lead a tribute to Robin Williams and raise the awareness of depression, remove the stigma. Tweets and posts sent to RDJ, Simon Pegg, Forest Whitaker, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and several others.

If you also want to see this happen - do the same, send messages out to any/all who worked with Robin.

Thank you! It would be great to see this happen. Hope the idea gets to the right ears!

Warm hugs back to you and Tillie. Don't let those few nasty people get to you Tillie. We got your back.
