Tom is gay. My late Aunt was in the "fashion" crowd in NYC in the 70s. My Mom was a great beauty and occasionally would attend parties and events with her. Selleck was a sort of male model in the 70s, repping some men's cologne - can't remember what it was called. He often attended industry parties with his bf. Not "out" by any means, but not totally closeted or bearding, until "Magnum". I had heard alot of talk that his wife was gay also, & that it was a bearding arrangement. My only thought about the whole thing is that it's a shame that we live in a so-called "society" where people have to hide their gender or sexual identity.

YW! - Hearing my Aunt and Mom talk (gossip) about him has always stuck in my mind because he's so sexy! Wish I could remember the name of the cologne ads, but my teenage self had a huge crush on him and was very disgruntled about losing out to the boys (wouldn't be the last, either, lol.). I also distinctly remember taking disco lessons, determined to go to Studio 54, & finally a theatrical set designer friend of the family arranged it. My naive Mom and I were enraptured by the whole "Man in the Moon" thing and so naive at the time that we didn't even get the coke reference. Oh, I loved the 70s!! Still keep in touch with the former-set designer, now dog groomer, who has been with his partner for almost 40 years and still can't legally marry in the state in which they reside. Not meaning to get up on a soapbox, but it makes me angry and sad.
Anyway, however Selleck chooses to live, closeted, bearding, or whatever, is totally his decision to make. As long as everyone is happy. Would just kill me to beard for him and not touch that gorgeousness!

@auntliddy, the rumours have been around forever. Tom made the bad call of publicly stating he's not gay and suing a tabloid for saying he was. It's a catch-22 - if you don't address it, the rumours get bigger. If you do address it, you're underhandedly acknowledging it and the rumours continue to get bigger.
He's been married for 26 years to his second wife, and has a daughter with her. (Jillie Mack was not a rescued prostitute, she was an actress with a couple of roles on Magnum, P.I.)
