Today's Blind Items - MV And The Annual Clue - Anniversary Month
It is Friday and a very special Friday at that because it is time for the annual MV clue. This is one of my favorite days of the year. Right up there with the free all you can eat buffet on my birthday. A quick note on the site and its progress. By Tuesday I am told there will be the most glorious mobile and iPad site the world has ever seen. So, fingers crossed for that. Many of you have asked about the "companion site." I am letting lawyers handle it all but I will say that you can't blatantly steal and then promote your stealing and not expect consequences. They wouldn't copy and paste TMZ because they didn't like a background color or post a Harry Potter book because they didn't like the font, but apparently they consider it ok to do it to me. It is not ok. It is theft and is being treated as such. Let me preface this post, by saying that if this story ever comes out, it would blow the music world up and shake it to its core..This would put the Milli Vanilli scandal and Ashlee Simpson SNL situation so far down the ladder it would be crazy..
Towards the end of last year I had a woman come into my office and she began to explain what she had done and had been doing for several years and it was one of the very few times that I just could not believe what I was hearing..I know the music industry inside and out, and I had never heard of something so extensive and pervasive as this..
This woman (S) came into my office because the payments she had been receiving had stopped and she wanted to either get the money that was owed to her, or expose what she had been doing to the light of day..
S is a sessions/studio/backup singer and is very good..Prior to her involvement in what I am going to describe, she made a very good living singing on commercials and being a backup singer for groups and other solo acts, etc..Like I said she is very good, but she does not really have that “look” which would make her a star, so record companies did not put her out front, but just used her talents..
In late 2000, a man came to her one day and said he needed someone to record some demos because he had written a lot of songs, but wanted a demo to shop the songs to singers and record labels..This is not unusual at all and she had done this type of work before and it paid pretty well so she agreed. What was unusual about her recording of the demos was how much work was put into the actual recordings..It was extensive..Generally there is not much time put into the recordings because you never really know if the song will even sell, and the money spent on recording could be put to better uses..These demos she was recording were actually being treated as if they were going to be released on a CD or to radio..They even did some mixing which was REALLY unusual..
After a few weeks she had recorded about over a dozen songs and she went on her way and was really oblivious to anything else pertaining to it, UNTIL several months later she was in her car and heard her voice coming from the radio, only it was another singer being given credit..(We will call this other singer MV for Milli Vanilli) She could not believe what she was hearing and did not know whether to be excited to hear herself on the radio, confused about the credit given to another singer or just pissed off for the same reasons..
What she did do, was to call the man who had originally come to her and had her record the songs..The man agreed to meet her and gave her a substantial sum of money and promised to keep giving her money every month as long as she kept her mouth shut. MV was taking off..(MV has/had several Top 40 songs and CD's. They could have gone to #1 or languished in the 30's..I really cannot go into much more detail or else it would be too easy to discover) MV was everywhere..on television, radio, awards shows, commercials..EVERYWHERE..meanwhile, S continued to get money every month and kept her little secret to herself..The guy who picked S was VERY lucky..Most singers would have caused a fuss, but S has always been in the background and was resigned to the fact she always would be, and was very happy just taking the $$, and did not want that to stop..
About 9 months go by and S is called by the guy because MV is going on tour and they want S to record some extra mixes and such for the tour..She agrees and does not really do much, but money is money..
Fast forward another year or so and S stops receiving money and after a few months of missed payments, calls the guy who explains that they need S to do another CD and then the payments can continue, but there is no more money unless she does more recordings..
S agrees and records another CD worth of songs which is released several months later and does even better than the first CD. This same process is repeated (I am not going to tell you the number of CD's because again you may be able to deduce and so I will just say the process repeated itself several times)
Well everything goes well for the most part for all these years and then no more payments, and no more calls and she cannot even locate our mystery man..S has not received a payment in six months when she came into my office and related this story..She did not even know the guy's name, but when she described him, I knew who he was and was even more floored than I had been previously..This was just something I had really not heard before..
I had heard of really altering voices in the recording studios and bringing in hired hands for one song or a large portion of a song, but never CD after CD and even doing extra work so a live performance would not sound staged..I told her I needed some time to check into her story and then we could proceed..It took two calls before I got the guy on the phone and he was pissed, scared, angry, threatening, remorseful..everything..It turns out the reason he had stopped making payments was he had been playing some shell games with the money between the record company, MV's earnings and MV's investments and just did not have any additional money..In addition, MV was not sure she wanted to continue on with what had been happening and so our mystery guy might be completely out of the picture..
I actually think the record company to this day has no idea what went on as the Guy was very good at what he does/did and knew how to make sure the record company was always happy..He stayed under budget, toured, made MV available, and made the record company money..
So a meeting was arranged in my office and S and MV finally met face to face..they had never done so, even though it was S who made MV a star..MV was rude to say the least when she saw what S looked like and it really upset me although S being her normal classy self could have cared less..
What we agreed to do that day was to provide S with one lump sum rather than a monthly income which was easier for Guy to pull off and S also agreed to never disclose her role in this drama and MV was on her own for future recordings and tours..
This involved literally millions of CD's and hundreds of concerts all over the world..The one thing I did get out of this beside my fee of course is a Gold Record autographed by S and by MV..I know it is the only one in the world..
CLUE- MV has done or is contractually agreed to do a Las Vegas residency.
CLUE #2- MV broke up with a significant other this year.

Enty, the companion site is the only way you're keeping readers at all. Look at how many comments you're getting since the redesign.
This isn't some trivial issue about background color or font choice. This is a massive redesign to the whole site that gobbles down viewers' system resources, constantly serves data that serves no purpose to you or your readers, and makes your site nearly unusable.
You can possibly succeed in losing ALL of your readers by going after the companion site, but you're not going to be successful by demanding that viewers come to a site they hate.
Failing some enormous improvements, you're six months, tops, from being out of business. Instead of making enemies out of your fans, you should be listening to their complaints, and making this site one they'll want to visit.
And, for Christ's sake, we all know MV is J-Lo, so stop promoting that blind like it's a huge mystery.
I don't mind the new site at all and Enty, you will not lose me. When I go to sites, and i find i don't like them; I just don't go to them anymore. I don't feel the need to let the blogger know that I don't like their site. Keep up the great work!

I do think it is pretty outrageous one could steal from this site and was surprised it was still up and running, frankly.
I still don't understand how MV could be J Lo. Her voice SUCKS - WHO would be surprised that she isn't singing? IF he is referring to J Lo, this BI is the biggest bunch of bullshit.

And if you're going to go after whoever made the companion site, then you better go after Dlisted, because MichaelK sometimes posts your BIs. Oh, and expect a call from Lainey, because YOU sometimes post her BIs. Let's not forget GossipBucket, which aggregates your stuff and posts it while posting ads. Whoever Outtie is, they're not profiting from your stuff - and neither are you with that crappy site and autoplay ads and planted commenters gushing about how wonderful the new site is when 98% of the rest are saying it's awful and unusable.
Your resources are better used suing the Venezuelan teenager who sold you on this site re-design.

Based on the timeline the blind gives this has to be Jennifer Lopez.
I see all these people complaining about this redesign and I honestly have not had a problem navigating this site at all. I really don't understand any of the complaints. All I have installed is Ad Blocker, which I used with the previous site anyway.
I guess some people don't like change. Just takes some getting used to the new navigation and I honestly like it better. Oh well...
2000 doesn't have to be the first single. I still think it's someone big who is known for their voice. Like Mariah.
So, if this is Britney, she recorded her first 2 albums, then got S to record the rest? And if this is J-Lo, she recorded her first album, then got S to record the rest? None of that makes sense, unless Enty is leaving out details to make this impossible to guess...

The companion site links back to this POS. It isn't the colors that are the issue. It takes forever to get to read something because of how long it takes to load, and this page freezes my phone. It is not user friendly. I have had lot of issues with this site, which is why I go to the companion site. I can read the posts, and comment without someone using my name and harassing me, or other people. It does not take a genius to see how low the comments are here compared to the companion site. It is because this place is not user friendly at all. Fix this mess, and perhaps more people will stop bitching about it.

Nice to have two clues. They both seem to confirm who people have already narrowed it down to: JLo or Britney. I honestly don't think the world would be that "shocked" if it were JLo. Or Britney, for that matter. I do think it'd be a bigger story if it were Britney.
Enty has said before that he fudged some of the details to cover his butt.

Just to be different. Pink's debut album came out in 2000. Christina Aguliera's came out at the end of 1999 but all her big hits debuted in 2000. Have either of them been announced as signing a deal for a Las Vegas show this year?
Nyer, we like CDan, which is why we would like to read the content. It is too difficult, and sometimes impossible to do so on this site. If it were to be fixed, this situation could be put to rest.

I have to agree with the others. I despise the new design change. If it major changes aren't made I will find a new gossip site. I am only hanging on hoping changes will be made.

You should be thankful for the companion site cuz otherwise u would have no readers. So fix the site, but if u choose not to and get rid of the companion site you are gonna lose a lot of readers.
Enty, it's amazing how fast you alienated your fan base. I understand the need for ad revenue, but this redesign is a catastrophic failure. If we're lucky you get two guesses per blind. I can barely type this because the mobile site is so terribly designed. I've never dared attempt the web version.
So if you sue the others do we get the ultimate blind reveal? Enty's name on the court papers?

Please, listen to yourselves. There were several waves of commenters before you and there will be waves after you. That your wave wants to think it is special is cute, but does not excuse stealing. Enty is talented and insightful and has good dirt; that is what attracts people. There have been complaints about the site from time immemorial. What is different now is enty's content, which is apparently now his (or her) sole livelihood, is being stolen. Simple as that.
Hmmm...JayJay - I like what you're bringing to the party. I really hope it's not Pink though because I have a genuine soft spot in my cold heart for her.
I don't mind the redesign at all and rarely, if ever, commented on the old site. Not sure this blind is JLo or Brit since any session singer I've ever worked with has a much better voice than either pop star. Brit and JLo probably rely on auto-tune, and enhanced vocal tracks for live performances. Has to be someone known for her singing voice. Christina Aquilera would be shocking.
I loathed the new design the first couple of times it popped up, but it disappeared quickly each time. It seems like most of the kinks have been worked out now, and I have ad block plus installed so I don't have a lot of the issues that I see people complaining about.
I don't love it, and the colors are hideous, but it's not so bad that I would risk legal action by copying its content to another site.
Sorry guys, but I like this site better, my computer or phone never has a problem with it. The old site would take forever to load if it ever did, then loading time between pages too.

I think it's Britney Spears. J Lo's singing voice sounds like her speaking voice. Britney on the other hand sounds different when she sings.
Enty, I've been reading this blog for years. Here are my 2 cents on it. The last design was very difficult for the readers eyes.. black and white was too hard of a contrast. The redesign looks great. I do wish there no were no auto play ads (I keep the sound muted on my laptop mostly because of this site). I also wish that it loaded faster and if you are going to force us to click links to read stories (and improve your sites' average user length time) at least make the link a pop-out and not force us to either right click to open a new tab or back click to get back to the stories. Other than that, I think the new site looks great and do believe that you should shut down the companion site stealing your intellectual property. The mobile site however is an unusable mess and the amount of ads makes it not worth anyone's time.
Oh and Brit Brit for the blind.

Any site is only as driven as its followers. If you alienate people based on perceived ranking - i.e., exclude the newbs because they haven't "earned their stripes" - be prepared for "newbs" to let you know they give not f* one about your perception. We're all entitled to our opinions and the MAJORITY opinion so far has been that this site is awkward, clunky and unnavigable. The companion site just reprints it in a more user-friendly way and doesn't make money.
By the way, what does Enty's prostate look like? Healthy? Bacon-addled? I mean, you're so far up there, I'm sure the view is pretty clear.
I, too, am so very tired of all the complaining posts. If you have an issue with it, there's an email link to voice your concerns and frustration. Not on every single post, day after day. I have no issues with the redesigned site whatsoever and will continue to view / visit as I have for many, many years. Never posted before and perhaps may not again. I also like the timing of the new site transition as some of the constant posters were getting very clique-y, with their little drama fights. As for the theft site: yes it is theft. The gossip sites mentioned all have other, unique content on their sites and list a CDAN blind item occasionally. The theft site is comprised only of CDAN content and nothing else.
The design definitely is a disaster for some of us but that's no excuse to try and hold commenters hostage until you get your way. You're not paying for this content. It isn't yours to take. Enty has been pretty good to his readers and it's pretty messed up to use the redesign as an excuse to create your warped little site while taking his content and his livelihood away. And if it's who I suspect is stealing, Enty, you should ban them.
Based on earlier clues, these 2 were ruled out. The 'singer' in question has only 13 letters in their name.
Besides, I really do think Xtina and Pink have talent. They aren't considered just entertainers, like Britney is, or a celebrity, like JLo is.
I'm disturbed by the tone of Enty. I don't know all of the legalities involved, but I do know that his website won't be the first to go out of business because of a lack of listening to the consumer (in this case, readers). It would seem strange that a comment site could be sued when no advertising has been solicited (to my knowledge). To me, this appears to be a well run chat. I am not an expert in the field of either websites or law though, so I'll be interested to see how it all shakes out.
So, Enty, since you are clearly reading this site, I have some advice for you AND for your advertisers:
1. Instead of threatening Outtie and/or commenters, why not present a readable website? All of us, including myself, want you to make as much money as possible so that you can continue entertaining us. WE'RE PULLING FOR YOU. But when our needs are completely ignored we have no alternative but to go to a companion site. I think that is reasonable.
2. Advertisers should realize that "interruption marketing", which has ALWAYS been a part of the CDAN site, is incredibly annoying to people and paints their products in a very bad light. When videos and loud audio begin playing automatically, it is annoying and mostly not heard. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has utilized AdBlock in the past as well as putting my computer on mute so as not to jump out of my seat at a loud ad suddenly playing.
If you are taking the bottom of the barrel advertisers who don't have the sense to be courteous to their potential customers, you will lose readers. I recommend you go to better class of advertiser, who will have the good common sense to have small ads in the corner that potential customers can click on if they want to. I often use those types of links. If an ad is obnoxious and ruins my peace of mind, I will often intentionally remember to not use that product.
Enty, I am giving you this advice for free as a non-involved party. Your website has great potential and I believe everyone on this companion site would be happy to return IF YOU WOULD JUST GIVE US THE COURTESY OF LISTENING TO OUR CONCERNS.
As to any potential loss of income you may be claiming, they were brought upon by yourself and your unwillingness to change when things were clearly not working. If this was also induced by greed, that is proof that the Universe has a sense of humor.
However, as to me personally (although I feel pretty sure I am not the only one), the choice is not between reading the companion or reading CDAN. The choice is between reading the companion or NOT READING YOUR SITE AT ALL. Thus, until or unless you fix your site, any loss of income or traffic you may be experiencing is not because of this site, but because of your own stubborn refusal to admit when things aren't working and your arrogance in changing a site without first conferring with the people who have contributed to make it what it is.
I feel very flattered and all that you are obsessed with me but it is kind of creepy and that is not a great impression, so get a life. No one is laughing.
Frankly, Britney was doing mall tours since BEFORE her first album came out. For that alone, it's J-Lo. She never performs live without a hassle. Google the World Cup.

I've probably commented maybe 10 times since I discovered this site, in it's infancy, many many years ago, when Britney was having her meltdown. I've seen so many waves of commenters come and go. The fact that this particular group thinks it is special is ludicrous.
So long time lurker, rare commenter, and I doubt I'm in the minority.
Those of you complaining so hard, ever think it might be about your understanding of how to use technology? It's a complete redesign and over haul, there will be growing pains. If you expect that it will work flawlessly after a week or two is crazy. Please get a grip. I've been on this new redesign on desktop, laptop, mobile tablet and smartphone and haven't had one loading issue. Wi Fi and hard wired. AND NO, not getting paid for this comment at all.
And the fact that the 'companion' site thinks it's not stealing is crazy. Apparently there is no real understanding of how websites and revenue generation works. It's not just based on ads on a website, but click throughs, affliate sites, etc. Of course, proper credit is always a must. To the commenter who thinks Enty is stealing from Lainey or Michael K, jeez, they both attribute to one another, it's a two way street, so think before you talk. I suspect this group knows one another very well and there is a 'deal' in place.

First time poster, long time reader. I like the old site better. Jmo. But agree with entry on stealing. Blindgossip publishes thier alternate sources which is nice. New site is really cumbersome. Shrink pictures maybe? Or none, might be better. Must have categories. Just a suggestion.
I am not thrilled by the new site design either but it does load quickly for me. I have a free ad blocker on chrome and have never encountered an ad or auto play video on the new site. If you don't like it, send in a complaint email and then shift off. We are sick of hearing about it. Like toddlers having a tantrum.

I think it is J Lo and S is her manager Benny Medina. The clue that makes me think J Lo is the part about recording extra for live shows. J Lo seems like she does a lot of talking and "ad-libbing" during her "live" performances.

AGREED!!!!!!!!!! COULDN'T HAVE SD IT BETTER. I USED TO CHECK THIS SITE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY, NOW MAYBE EVERY OTHER DAY. HARD TO NAVIGATE, BAD DESIGN, THE LIST GOES ON.
Before people start accusing people of stealing make sure you know what "stealing" is in the digital world. So long as a site refers to the source material it is not theft. Just like Michael K uses Enty's blinds on his site and references them it doesn't take away from his readership. In fact. that was how I found CDAN in the first place.
I won't complain about the design but I will say that people who have medical issues such as epilepsy, vertigo and nystagmus have a serious problem with the graphics. Not everyone who complains is doing so out of fear of change.
I won't complain but I won't be a frequent visitor either. Others will replace all those who left I really believe but it will take a while and if the other place is easier people will drift over there. That's just the truth.
Wait a minute. The story has changed. I seem to remember that MV only recorded 5 albums...and also S died of cancer, and MV actually visited her in the hospital before she passed. Since S passed, MV can never use her voice or record another record. Also....I remember the last Blind saying MV could sing, but not very well.
My way or the highway doesn't work. The site has improved and keeps getting better. Why don't YOU go along with what Enty is doing and see what happens?

It sounds like it has to be JLo or Brit Brit...but I can't see Brit Brit being a biatch to anyone. It's got to be JLo, but she just put out another song recently or something. Plus they had that live recording of Brit Brit singing without music, and it was terrible and off tune.
If S was singing for JLo...then S was a terrible singer. I think JLo albums are horrific, as is her horrible voice.

4. MV has been separated (real separation and not just kicking the guy out for a couple of days) and/or divorced at least once.

Radar and TMZ more frequently, Page 6 sometimes, Celebitchy never, Blind Gossip never. Enty makes BI's out of single lines in tabloids, like Actress A and Actor A were seen posing together, BANG they're dating and Actress A's husband Actor C wants to bang Actor A's wife to get even. Enty used Himmm (however many M's are supposed to be there) to push out unproven things in the comments like the Apt book and Dan Schneider and Hayden Panatierre's sex abuse because even with the statement at the bottom, he knew he'd get sued faster than Lilo dropping to her knees for sidewalk coke. I know exactly how click throughs and revenue works. Enty should, too, because EVERY FUCKING WEEK someone would tell someone else how to install ad-blockers or use the mobile site so those stupid autoplay ads wouldn't blare out weight loss tips or ninja shake maker ads. No play, no pay.
Enty -rathering that threatening Outtie, you should be THANKING him/her for keeping your readers around while you fix this shit site. Once you clean up this mess of a site, everyone will be back. However, threatening Outtie or worse, taking action against Outtie, will alienate your loyal readers for good. You have a gold mine with your loyal readers; you have what every site out there wants. Take your ego out of this and be a smart business person. Your readers are telling you the new site sucks. Believe them. Rather than whine about getting complaints, why don't you ASK your readers what it is they would like to see. Involve them in the solution. On the next go around with the site, do some usability testing before launching. Money well spent. You're welcome.
I've gotten more used to the new site. I still prefer the old design, but I come for the content. I do think the speed has improved since it first came out thankfully. I am hopeful there will be more improvements to come. I prefer to stay here to read & post because if everyone goes to the shadow site (ownership of content aside), this site could go away & then there's no shadow site either. If there are no views & no posts here, then all content could go away which I would be very unhappy about!

ChristineM, here's the truth of the matter. I've worked as a professional web designer. Even running adblocker, this site still loads slowly. It sits and waits every time a page loads for the idiotic animations that "introduce" the header image. It is constantly in a state of loading or reloading when the browser is just sitting, pointed at the main page. The fact that comments no longer open in a separate browser window makes it much harder to navigate, because the entire site, including all javascripts and weird ads, has to load and reload every time we click to read a blind -- and we now have to open a different page, and wait for it to load, to get every blind, instead of them simply being readable in full as the Blogger platform allowed -- and every time we go back to the main site.
Speaking as someone who has designed websites for a living, this is an incompetent, user-unfriendly pooch-screw of a design.
And no web site has ever been successful saying "Fuck the users, I want it this way." The users are the eyeballs Enty sells to the advertisers, and you need only look at the sparsity of comments on almost every post to see the redesign is losing eyeballs faster than a Cyclops in a Three Stooges short.

I commented here to join in the voices of those who are disappointed with the new changes because I would be glad to come back to the actual CDAN site if it were designed much better than it is presently. You're joking Erin B. This new format absolutely and completely sucks. Completely. It's slower and far more difficult to navigate...not to mention all the distorted photos. This site is a mess. I now only glance through and read 2 or 3 articles a day, because it's too much work, and you have to go into each article and load it to read...and then back track. It's like Enty's site has gone back in time, rather than forward with technology.

The only real benefit I can see to the redesign is cramming more ads into the mobile site.
If you look at the Alexa Rankings, the Pages Viewed and Time On Site #'s have gone up due to the difficulty in navigation and the removal of email alerts for follow up comments. Both quite moot when you consider the site's Global Ranking is still plummeting to the tune of just under 2000 spots/day. By the time it is 3months out from the day of the change over (Alexa Rankings are based on the previous 3months), I would guess the ranking #s would double, from 22k global to 45k, and from 5.5k US to 12k.
Go to Alexa.com, search for this site, and look at the graph.

I like the suggestion of a discussion site set up elsewhere for those of us who have issues with this one. My eyesight has deteriorated quite a bit over the last few months so I actually now get minor headaches when looking at this site for a period of time. As long as a mirror site doesn't use "CDaN" in it's name there shouldn't be an issue. We could post blinds from other sites as well as Enty's. There are plenty of sites which do that, Dlisted being one for example. If we did post Enty content such as blinds and only blinds, I don't think he'd have a problem with that, but exclusive Enty content such as "Off Topic" and "Random Photos" and "Reader Photos" (which I'm curious to see how that will play out on this new site next month) should probably be left to Enty's site only..
I've tried to be fair about the situation. I've left comments here this week. I even sent Enty a story suggestion a few days ago which I thought he might want to write about. I got no response back.
At this point, when I'm commenting a few times here, in a small effort to still support him, I ask myself, "Does Enty even want me here?" I'm not so sure anymore. I'm not going to abandon Enty altogether, even if I feel he abandoned a number of us.

No one is saying that Enty owes his readers anything, but we are the CUSTOMERS and if enough customers tell you something about your business needs improving, a smart business person would listen. There are a lot of gossip sites out there and what makes this one so special are the commenter. Sure, some new ones can come in and potentially keep up the same interesting banter, but why risk that???? Enty has eyeballs on his site; and Enty can also drive them away. I've seen many commenters come and go, most of them, I'm glad they went, but some of them I do miss. I do believe they likely lurk. Most of the reason I don't post is because of all the drama that eventually arises because a few trolls and bullies decide they know what's best for the site. Enty, or whomever owns this site, is much more patient than I would be with these people because I'd ban them left and right. Many familiar commenters will leave and a new batch will step up. I'll probably grow to like reading some of them, then a new drama will arise and the 'circle of life' will continue, as it has countless times before.
I come here to rest my brain and have fun. I don't believe half of what is written here, but there is always the 'what if it is' factor that keeps me coming back. I don't believe the OG Enty posts much here anymore, and guess what, I don't care. OG Enty does come back from time to time and the site is still fun to read.

There is no way a pro wouldn't have the site set up and atleast functioning properly prior to the unveiling. Sure there will be glitches like a botched link here or there, but the site flat out not working for days and the shit layout scream that Fugazi Enty paid $9.99 for a theme, then made it live and started tinkering.

It's really quite simple how you can make things right, just make a site that actually works! I can't speak for everyone, but I am sure majority are fine with change. It's when the site doesn't load properly and photos are distorted that people get annoyed and complain - and don't want to lurk. To all you fools who are saying "get over it, it's only been two weeks". I am sorry, but these weren't some minor snafus that were taking place. These were some serious design problems that should have been corrected and realized prior to the launch. Obviously an amateur put this site together. That's fine, but don't get pissed off when people are brutally honest that this "new and improved" site is a sizzling piece of shit!!! Fix it so it at least works properly and they will come back. Easy as that.
I'm a long time lurker, first time commenter and I've got to say that I understand people are frustrated by the new design. I also think it's pretty obvious that Enty is working on the site to make it better. This won't happen overnight. So many people who left keep saying that CDAN hasn't been loyal to them but how loyal have you been if you jump ship without giving proper time for things to be fixed? Do I love the new site? No, but I don't hate it either and I do feel that it's a work in progress. To think that the site will go under just because a group of commenters left is kind of silly. New commenters, like me, will just take up where you left off (but without feeling like we will be bullied or intimidated by regulars). By the way, until a few months ago, I really liked reading the comments but even before the new design quite a few commenters had become mean and the site seemed less light hearted- it made me sad so I'm happy to have new people coming out and commenting!

As with every other website on the internet, every user has two options: visit it or don't. For example, when Radar rolled out a similarly hideous makeover that was unusable for me I left it for a while until the glitches had been worked out. However, I'm certain that I could have expected threats of legal action had I begun to copy its content to another page simply because I disliked the design.
I don't understand why CDAN should be afforded fewer legal rights; how is it any different than the other sites? If you didn't like a Dlisted redesign, would you disrespect Michael K by copying his site? I find The Huffington Post's website very user unfriendly, and TMZ freezes my computer for several minutes with every page change, but no one would dare to copy those sites.

I said it on FB, I'll say it here. You 'new Coked' the hell out of this site. Take a lesson from that massive corporation, listen to your customers, admit your mistake and clean up this mess. You don't have to go back to the old site, but at least listen to the criticisms and fix what you can.
Also, CaliGirl is right, the original "Enty" is no more (maybe an occasional guest appearance). This site has new owners and writers, anybody can see that.

Here's the thing...this is Enty's website. He can do with it what he wants. You can choose to visit or not visit his website. It is incredible the amount of comments that have been posted about how angry everyone is. It reminds me of when a child doesn't get their own way and throws a temper tantrum about it. Get over the new design and continue to visit the site or not. That is your choice.

Come on, as if either of those would be risked in a scheme like this! Both make significant cash for their employers, and it's clear that any 'they don't really sing the songs' scandal would be a complete career killer.

Karen, I totally agree. Most of the comments before the new design were from the same old posters going back and forth, bickering between themselves. Here's an idea: why don't all of you who hate the design start your OWN website and all congregate there? I have been here from the very beginning, and haven't felt comfortable to comment in the past because of the group of posters that has dominated this site. And if they migrate over here and start their shenanigans that will be the end of my posting.
So hang on, just to clarify, you're leaving the site for good because it's awful but you will still monitor the comments and troll new commenters as necessary?

I've obviously been luckier than most as the new layout has had minimal impact on me but then I only ever browse on a laptop and not on a phone or tablet and I don't comment. It was a bit "clunky" at first but has improved. Overall, I find the colour scheme far superior to the old white on black and I like the new layout, although I did install AdBlock as I found them intrusive and overwhelming. It's fantastic that the new layout has encouraged long time lurkers to comment.
However, as a loyal reader for the last 5 years, I have to say that this is the last time I will be visiting.
My decision has nothing to do with the new layout and everything to do with the fact that I no longer come here to read the content of the posts, the majority of which are either incredibly difficult to read or of no interest to me (I'm no punctuation Nazi but jeez, would it kill you to include the occasional comma?).
The reason I chose CDAN over other gossip sites was down to the commentators. The comments were the most enjoyable and entertaining part of this site for me and, although there have been flare ups and personal attacks in the past, they didn't generally detract from the "entertainment" spirit of the site. The complete and utter child-like, schoolyard bully drivel that has occurred above with some posters, several of whom I recognise as being incredibly antagonistic and argumentative on the original site, has left a bad taste in my mouth and ruined what should be a relaxing and entertaining experience.
This, coupled with the fact that the majority of the usual funny, intelligent and courteous commentators have migrated elsewhere renders this site obsolete for me (no disrespect intended to new commentators).
Good luck for the future and please try to reign in the hate filled posters, who appear to have established their home base here.
