This starting to age A list mostly movie actress is a multiple Academy Award winner/nominee who is one of the few to be nominated twice in a year. She was so wasted on prescription pills and every time she took one during the night, and it was at least three, she would whisper,"my back." She wasn't whispering it to anyone, just kind of herself.

Agreed.
"Starting to age" is an odd clue and could be interpreted as Cate since she's chronologically getting into the older women roles or could be Julianne who's managed to get great work but her actual physical "Hollywood" years are catching up with her (I still think she looks great).
Nominated twice in one year? That limits it. Thank you Google: it's either Blanchett or Julianne Moore.
I go with Jennifer Jason Leigh. Saw her being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest and she couldn't put 2 words together. That's too bad if it was her.
Jennifer Jason Leigh . Even though the ratings differ, she was nominated for best supporting actress and her film Anomolisa was up for best animated feature. Entens not clear about whether projector actress herself is double nommed. Blanchett/Julianne were far from under the influence appearing - seemed clear as a bell.

I just think Patricia couldn't see the moniter & not nominated for 2 movies in same year.Neither was Jennifer Jason Leigh.
I agree Jen Jason Leigh sounded the MOST wierd (up there with Patricia Arquette)but she has sounded like that at every single awards show this year...PLUS, if nominated for 2 movies includes all the Voice Over work these actresses have done in Animated Films then the whole list would greatly widen...

No way could Blanchett have navigated that stage in those 7 inch heels for the awkward costume segment if she was wasted. Maybe afterwards, when she and Rooney Mara were spotted at the bar...
She was only nominated once (Animated film nominations don't go the actors).
Actually quite a few more have - Holly Hunter, Sigourney Weaver, Emma Thompson.
It doesn't say they were nominated this year.
But Holly, Sigourney and Emma weren't at the Oscars this year. Julianne and Cate were.
Aside from the obvious, I could totally see this being Meryl Streep

Kate Winslet. I think she has been nominated twice in the same year before. She looked really weird. I thought maybe it was just too many fillers injected into her face, but I could also see it being pills.
