Blind Item #8

The foundation of this A+ list mostly movie actor promised to build several homes in one Midwest city. So far though, even though the actor got praise from all the residents when he made the announcement, it has been almost three years and no homes have been built.

Maybe unrelated, but wasn't Pitt building a lot of homes in Nawlins post-Katrina? I remember hearing only good things about his work there at the time.

That's why I'm confident my guess of Carlton, Your Doorman from "Rhoda" is the subject of the blind. ~~~many, many eye rolls here~~~

Yes and I just read a story that he is having trouble with his foundation in NO as well. People quitting and complaints of crappy build on existing homes.

Not sure---but I have always though his and Angies wealth was highly exaggerated. Sure they have A LOT of money coming in but they must have A LOT coming out?

LOL!!!
Off topic.
An Attorney who works for my golf buddy attorney said she is in escrow on a house that was being flipped: foreclosure, bought by a flipper and (being) re-sold.
She said, she can't get the house to pass the inspection because the work the flipper claims he did, he didn't do.
(Back story) When she was looking, she asked me to help. I said I don't sell homes -- only CRE.
But, I warned her about buying a "flipped" house.
Fast Forward to yesterday: Her Realtor didn't tell her the house was being flipped until they were in escrow.
I said, (my gold buddy) is an excellent attorney.
She said, "You're not funny!"
So, everyone: BE WARY OF HOUSES BEING FLIPPED.
only on TV do they actually do all the repairs required. Most Flippers hide defects.

Brad promised to help Joplin after it got hit with a tornado but I have no idea if he followed through. Missouri is considered midwest

All the building materials bought and somewhat donated due to producer testing on site for these projects are wonky environmental friendly crap.. materials that are most easily molded from scraps and less than regular safe standard building requirements and very easily produced to quickly rot, dissolve in the garbage dump heap, even while your living in it.. got a limited useful date.. even the brick is fragile.. less good useful life if you don't take care and understand its 'fragile.. everything they use in building.. doesn't work well in all environments.. very soon due to disintegrate, rot, break, need updates if electric or gas, mildew, melt, chip, fall apart, rust.. honestly some found the mortar just turns back to sand.. etc. Most stores are relunctant to sale it because it doesn't have a long shelf life and hardware stores are liable.

Well, he could have just quietly donated a bunch of money to habitat for humanity, an organization that does a great job with what little resources they have.

These items are then less environmentally friendly because they don't last, For throwaway items you want to have them decompose, not for houses!

A lot of the houses he built in New Orleans have problems. The contractor did not use moisture-resistant wood: http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/texas/article/Katrina-victims-say-Brad-Pitt-s-charity-homes-are-5108452.php
