This foreign born A- list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee has been staying with her A list actress co-star because she is having trouble coping with her husband cheating on her.

In what universe are we living that Cate Blanchette is considered A- while Reese W. is considered A+?

Bankability? Blanchette has never opened a movie.

Maybe Cate is staying with Sandy for other reasons? Just a thought.

Yes she has -- Blanchett opened the movie "Carol"

Elizabeth and Oscar for Blue Jasmine

+1 on Cate B. I think if her family wasn't so young she would dump his ugly ass.

Greasy Reesey makes money. A lot of money in comedies.
Cate doesn't make a dime in movies, except as supporting actress in big movies.

That's it. I'm marrying a doctor/politician... Doesn't anyone in Hollywood not cheat, Enty? FFS.

Blanchett was a lead in Carol, I'm not There, Benjamin Button and carried The two Elizabeth movies, Charlotte Gray, The Gift as well as Blue Jasmine for which she won her second Oscar...and more movies...she's been nominated 6 times for Oscar and 9 times for Golden Globes. She's pretty much the most successful actress of her time.

She's not the lead in Benjamin Button. Brad Pitt is. I'm Not There was an ensamble. She was only in 1 part of the movie. Carol has made $12 million dollars domestic & $27 million in foreign countries. I'm Not There wasn't a big money maker, the 2 Elizabeth movies aren't big money makers, The Gift wasn't a big money maker, Charlotte Gray made under $800 thousand dollars, a major failure, & Blue Jasmine made under $100 million world wide. She's not a box office draw. The only movies she's in that make big money are movies she's not the lead of. She's a great actress, but she's not a box office draw. Opening a movie refers to an actor that leads a movie that can make big $$$ on opening weekend. Cate hasn't been able to do that. In Hollywood if you're not able to be the lead in a big movie like Jennifer Lawrence, but you can get awards nominations you're not A+. You're A+ in talent, but you're not A+ for anything else.

"Open a movie" refers to an actor that can be the lead in a movie that has a big opening weekend. Carol hasn't made very much money. Cate's only big opening weekends were movies she's not the star of. So no, she hasn't.

Opening a movie is about an actor/actress that can be the lead of a movie that has a big opening weekend. Cate's only movies to do that are movies she's not the lead in. She can't open a movie at all. She's a great actress that can get nominations, but she's not someone that's going to be the lead of a movie that makes $300 million or more.

Lead actress or starring in a movie is not opening a movie. Jennifer Lawrence and Melissa McCarthy movies regularly have $20 million dollar opening weekends. Blanchette has NEVER had that.

So enty is implying that these two closet A list cases are hooking up?

You could say he might be

By your logic, only super hero movies deliver A-list actors, and that isn't true. Most movies simply do not make $300M in box office, ever. Bankability comes from people knowing who you are, and people know who Cate Blanchette is and they respect her talent. Her name carries weight that most super hero "stars" don't.

She's easily A-. I can't imagine any serious producer telling the director, "NO! For God's sake, please don't give Cate Blanchett the lead in my movie! She's not bankable enough."

Get real.

Did you miss the + sign I put next to the A? I'm not saying she's not A-. People were arguing that she's higher than that & she is in talent, but she's not a bankable star. There are producers that say she's not bankable enough, which is why she's not given the lead in big budget movies. She gets supporting roles in big budget movies, but only in movies that have a bankable star as the lead, or ensemble movies. When you're spending $100 + million on a movie there are plenty of producers saying no to Cate as the lead. This isn't an opinion. It's based on the facts. She doesn't get those roles because she's not a bankable star. She gets the lead in indie movies that they think she can get them an Oscar nomination. She gets supporting roles in big budget movies, but she's not the lead so she's not A+. She's A- as a star, but A+ in talent. Actually look at the movies she's a lead in, look at the budgets, & look at how much they made. She's not a bankable star & if a movie has a high budget producers ARE saying no to Cate as the lead. They'll put her in a secondary role, but not in the Lead.
