Spirit Airlines Pilot And Wife Overdosed On Cocaine And Animal Tranquilizer

An autopsy has confirmed that a Spirit Airlines pilot and his wife died of overdoses of cocaine and carfentanil.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office on Tuesday confirmed the autopsy results in the deaths of 36-year-old Brian Halye and 34-year-old Courtney Halye. Police say the couple's four children found their bodies March 16 at their home in Centerville, about 50 miles north of Cincinnati.

The deaths came about a week after Brian Halye's last flight. The Dayton Daily News reports the autopsy report doesn't indicate if the Halyes knew the cocaine contained carfentanil — a synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than fentanyl and 1,000 times more powerful than morphine. But the autopsy report does show that both Halyes took the drug by injection.

Great. It isn't enough that there's an epidemic of fentanyl overdoses in Canada, now we have to worry about carfentanil.

I know of a horse trainer who died of an overdose of horse tranquilizer.
And, you'd never suspect the trainer of doing any drugs.
The drug epidemic in the US is out of control.

I am no drug aficionado but isn't cocaine snorted? If they injected it sounds like they expected it to be laced. Beyond horrible for their families and those poor children

My heart breaks for those children. What a horrible thing for them to have to deal with. I hope there are other family members who can keep them together and love them through this nightmare.

it's usually snorted but injection intensifies the rush since it gets into the blood stream and brain faster. and if you're willing to put a needle in your arm for any drug, it's a slippery slope to death.

Maybe they were first timers with no knowledge or experience about coke. Experienced coke users snort and heroine users inject. Typically coke is not injected and heroine is not snorted. Four orphans is just very sad.

Unfortunately, pilots with "issues" are not exclusive to one airline. They've arrested pilots on other airlines who showed up to work drunk.

4 kids. I'm dumbfounded. That is so horrible.

They were not first timers, there are many coke addicts that move to shooting it. My gues is that they also used heroin tho. Nobody puts opiates in their coke because it gives you the opposite effect, and everyone would stop buying your awful coke.

Lots of OD's in Vancouver, I see, but that's hardly representative of the majority of Canada.

Lots of people snort heroin, or even smoke it - at first. But shooting makes for a better high, as I understand it, so eventually that's where it leads.

This is what addicts look like. People have a sense of what addicts are supposed to look because of who gets arrested for drug use ( mostly poc because some are poor and powerless) and who the media focuses on . Use crack and you're poor? Go to jail for ten years. Use cocaine and you're rich? Become Sean penn.
