Now that he can justify a big salary again for at least 2 more bombs like The Lone Ranger, he should get worse before he gets better.
He sold most of his property and priceless art during the divorce. I don't know if it was to pay debts, keep it from Amber or to survive. If he is too stoned to act he won't be getting roles in the future. I think he still owns that private island in the Caribbean. He is a fave of mine but, sadly, brought this on himself. There's still time, Johnny! Get your ass in gear and clean up your act.
Why does this NOT surprise me?
It hurt my heart a little when he was selling those paintings. I can't imagine having to part with those!
What makes me sad is that this guy has children, and if you can't motivate yourself to kick your addiction issues and get clean for them, then there is really very little hope that he'll recover.

With access to the best rehabs, all the money to take all the time they need to get their shit together and they never do.
As I get older all I think is 'Wow, these people are real losers and they would never survive for 1 minute in the real world'.

He still has some art and 12 entire storage units full of memorabilia and while they are not exactly liquid assets, they are still assets. I think if he chooses to sell those he will be ok. Actually between the memorabilia and the large cheque he will get for Universal Monsters and The McAfee movie. But he desperately needs to clean himself up not just the drugs part but also his whole reputation- messy divorce vindictive agents eccentric excesses :/
He has IMDb credits upcoming. Johnny looks better in the trailer for Murder on the Orient Express. The financial mess is maddening because there have been plenty of stars that end up with financial issues, so this happening now to anyone worth over 100 million is mind boggling! Would producers really keep hiring him if addictions back?
That's because the real problem isn't drugs, it's personality disorders and you can't fix that. Most of Hollywood are narcissists and sociopaths. These people have huge egos, zero morals and in some cases no conscience at all.
He sort of lives in his own reality. It's hard to imagine what that life is like and it's not all perfect. For all the money someone like Depp makes there are numerous people waiting to con you out of it in some very slick ways.
