Blind Item #8 - A Reader Blind Item

About a decade ago I was going to cosmetology school in Santa Barbara. For the first 8 weeks of schooling we worked on doll heads and each other to learn the basics of hair, skin, and nail treatments. On the 9th week we were sent to complete a list of basic tasks on the public that chooses to sign a waiver and risk their physical appearance for our education. Now I knew this particular Tuesday we were going to have a special guest come in for a haircut. This guest we will call Dreamboat (DB for short), which you will agree with me is a fitting name once you find out who he is). DB started off in films where he was obviously cast for his beautiful face. He is most know for a movie series that has more sequels than any non super-hero chain I chain I can think of.

So, DB is good friends with one of the guys attending our school. They go dirt biking and  race motorcycles together. I think he came in as a favor to our fellow student (FS) to make him look good with the ladies. On this day, only I knew he was coming in, and it would be the first time anyone in my class saw him at the school as FS had mentioned it to be in case I wanted to assist. My mind got whirling and ended up working out a much for fun plan. When DB arrived at the school I had FS bring him back to the shampoo bowl and put a warm towel over his face. I then went and got one of my fellow classmates (the sweetest girl who had mentioned a few weeks earlier how she thought he was cute) and asked her if she wanted to do a “men’s wash” on a walk in.

I lead my friend over to the FS and have him lead her over to DB and am watching from a distance. As this was her first time washing a stranger’s hair she is accidentally spraying him in the ear, his face, and giving him a bit of a shower all over. When she goes to grab a towel to dry him off his face towel falls off and she screams/faints at the same time. DB was a great sport and hugged her and laughed and told her she was going to do great in life and how much he enjoyed what just happened.

DB passed away a few years ago. So young and in an ironic way. Now, whenever I see his movies or hear his name I smile and remember what a truly great and normal person he was.

Definitely Paul Walker. I live in Santa Barbara and he was known around town as a really nice genuine guy, which was my experience when I met him. Great guy and caring father too

I've been grumpy about reader blinds, but this one brought tears to my eyes. What a great man.

Yeah, great guy - wasn't he dating a 15/16 year old?

Great reader blind!

"Yeah, great guy - wasn't he dating a 15/16 year old?"--I think she was 16 and he was 33 at the time and were together 7 years. But yeah I think he definitely liked them on the young side, which I suppose got swept under the rug thanks to all his philanthropy.

Paul Walker's death was no accident.

No accident? Wait...It was Porsche's fault that his idiot friend drove the car 100 MPH in a business district? Wqlker's daughter seemed to think so, since she sued Porsche.

My Paul Walker Reader Blind is:

In 1984, I worked on the (dumb) film 'Monster in the Closet' when Paul Walker was 12(?). (He played (The Professor)

It also had Stacy Ferguson, too (Fergi!) And a whole bunch of (at the time) over the hill stars. (All who were so gracious to us want to be filmmakers.)

PST! (I never got paid for working that film.)

Paul Walker was an amazing human. I wonder how much he knew that they had to kill him for it.

What happened if it wasn’t an accident? Every detail of this blind makes me think Paul was lovin on that male classmate.

I was thinking the same thing. I realize 17, isn't 12, but it's quite the gap from his then 33 (and illegal in CA, yes?).

I thought this blind item reminded me of the beauty school song from “Grease”, but if it’s Paul Walker, that just makes me sad... 🖤

Nice kindness story, though.

Paul Walker's death was the only celebrity death that has ever hit me hard. I had loved him since I was 12 and he was all over my walls. I was seriously devastated. It was so weird to feel such emotion for a person I'd never met, and now hearing that he was actually an amazing person on top of it makes me cry a little bit all over again.

I was going to say Anton Yelchin, but Paul Walker is definitely a better fit.

How many idiot boy races watch those bullshit Fast and Furious films then hit the road, tanked up, driving like bloody idiots, then kill innocent people. How many innocent peoples lives have been ruined by muppets driving like morons, influenced by those films. Thousands I bet.
And he dies in a similar fashion.
KARMA, BITCH!!!!
