I don't like any of these new guys: Chalamet, Elgort, the Han Solo guy, Theo James, Teller, Hedges...none of them really look like future star leading men.
The women are way ahead of yhem in talent and potential.
Real vacuum for a talented male actor to step into - one who isn't gay (nttiawwt) or tainted as a rapist or a drug addict or some combination of those.

Theo James is actually a really cool guy and a good actor. Isn't in the closet, either. Sadly though I don't see him making it to leading man in Hollywood.
The music festival def sounds like catnip for Darren Criss. But I still don’t get it.
Nobody seems to be able to answer why the heck Darren Criss would have been in the closet since he was an undergrad at UofM whose only claim to fame was as Harry Potter in a YouTube musical. Because that’s when he and Mia Swier started their relationship.
The other part that doesn’t make sense re:closet is that he was willing to go to the mat for staying in the closet while trying to make it in Hollywood, but he wasn’t willing to cut his hair and clean up his look until he reached the broke and desperate stage?
The closet seems a lot more extreme than a haircut when it comes to image... and his choice of roles is about as queer as one can get whether as Hedwig or Blaine or the new Versace movie.
I’m not saying I can’t believe Darren would be gay or bisexual. I’m just saying I’m still baffled by why he’d bother to hide it, especially with his whole “raised in SF by drag queens” narrative.
I really would appreciate it if anyone here can explain the gay!Darren thought process vis a vis all that. ^^^^
Theo James could be super bankable. He is great looking.
My sister’s boyfriend is in the closet. He’s not famous. Just has a religious mother that would be horrified if he came out. He’s very obviously gay, and in the nine years he’s been with my sister, they’ve only had sex a handful of times. Bearding happens even in the real world.
That closet has glass doors.

Han, Sean Hayes was closeted during his entire Will and Grace run. It made absolutely no sense, and I don't think anyone really thought he was straight. This could be a similar thing.

@Jeannie I know. My best friend and I bearded for each other in High School for similar family reasons. (But no sex. Ech.)
Darren Criss comes from a famously liberal upbringing and spent his formative years in San Francisco around lots of out queer people and assorted drag queens.
Pretty sure that situation doesn’t apply in his case. Just sayin’.

That’s different from the sheer amount of noise Darren across made during his Glee run about “OMG! I know! Isn’t it so weird that I’m TOTALLY HETEROSEXUAL!?!? I guess I’m just really super open minded about people and an all around cool guy.”
@orange In the case of my friend and I, it was mutual bearding. Getting through school while we needed our families’ support was more important than a romantic relationship.*
That was seven years or so right there.
*As I recall, he had a reasonable number of casual hook ups.
