Blind Item #6

I found one thing I agree on with this former A- list mostly television actress. That Hollywood fund which makes bad guys feel good about themselves and does absolutely nothing for anyone except pay a bunch of money for salaries and parties is a waste and a sham. The amount they give out is probably 5% of what they take in.

So it's like a real charity then?

Rose McGowan and the MeToo movement?

Unknown said...

Ok but we all know the only reason she’s going this hard is to make money off the situation too.....

It's funny that MeToo might not have happened if Weinstein hadn't been so cheap about paying her off, what a penny pincher.

Rose has some kind of personality disorder. If you read her book, she takes no accountability for anything bad that happened in her early life even when it was blatantly her fault. She came out of the womb a victim.

I'm so sick of seeing her face tbh...

what is the charity? I dont think there is a MeToo charity, it is just a hashtag?

@greenfrog I think either MeToo or Time'sUp have a charity attached that provides legal services to women who want to press charges against their attackers/harassers.

Whether the money is actually making it to those who need assistance is another question.

Don't they know all the money is supposed to go to the #metoo leaders Rose McGowan and Asia Argento?

Mira Sorvino wants some too.

There are a LOT of bogus charities and foundations, like really a lot. This one of the most under-reported stories in America. And some other countries.

They just hired the WNBA honcho to run this so they can pretend it's legit.

Yeah, as if Rose cares about any real changes. She just wants to get as much $$$ as possible before she fades into obscurity.

@CJ

So just like Komen and Livestrong, the Red Cross and United Way, the point is to keep the corporate beast of the charity operating with well paid executives, not to ever help anyone or to help minimally.

Charities and non-profits are BIG money and often run like MLM schemes. Thank Komen for that! The soup kitchens, legal defense funds, medical aid, have to be satisfied with 5%...if that...of the money contributed using their misery.

As soon as one of my charities sends an invitation to a gala, I'm out, completely.

Food for the Poor. In the US we live so close to the Caribbean, and it's christian. What impressed me was the phone call from Barbara saying they're praying for me and my family.

Charities often have out of control overhead. I don't give money anymore, strictly sweat equity by volunteering.

And the Shriners with their support of St. Jude. Wonderful charity.

SDaly said...

Why would I give to St. Jude, when there are local children's hospitals that could use the money? I got into an argument with a lady soliciting for St. Jude's, and I told her that we already support the local children's hospital, which is one of the top hospitals in the country, and probably first or second in research. She said, but St. Jude's is the only one that shares its research. I replied, "That's not how any of this works, all medical research worth a damn is publicly published and presented at conferences to spread the word." I can't imagine what St. Jude's spends on advertising.

All true SDaly, but one reason to support Saint Judes is it offers treatment for children entirely free of charge beyond what their insurance pays. Also, Judes has been on the cutting edge of new treatments and protocols for childhood cancers for a long long time, changing the entire culture of childhood disease in many ways, all by itself.

Not trying to tell you what to do with your charity dollars here, local is almost always better, but of all the horrible charities out there, St Jude's stands out as an example of a US charity done right.
