No. But Ive seen motorcades of the Pope and Reagan in NYC and when he was a complete broke loser Trump snatched a dollar I was waving at him out of my hand in Los Angeles and kept on walking.

Justin Trudeau if any of you have heard of him. Lol. I'm Canadian so I won't get angry at any rude comments.

I very briefly met George W. once before he was president.

I stood about 3 feet from Reagan while he was campaigning. He was very considerate, he just froze while in the middle of shaking peoples' hands and smiled for me for what seemed like a long time so I could get photos of him. Very charismatic man, even though I never voted for him.

I met Donald Trump when I worked on wall street in 1985.He came to the office for a meeting with the boss. I happened to be covering reception. I asked him if I could take his coat.He said what's the matter sweetheart don't you have your own coat?

I was downtown at the Civic center with my father. Reagan was campaigning and the crowd was not very large. We were near the stage and my dad wanted to go. I wanted to stay but left. I remember this because a group of communists were picketing. Oh well.

No, but I have a front page newspaper pic of my grandparents with Mitt Romney when he ran years ago. He was doing one of those Town Hall breakfast things. Pretty cool momento of my grandparents, I think.

I meant Donald Trump at Trump Tower what he was signing the Art of the deal . Although not the president I met John F Kennedy Jr. at a business meeting a few months before he passed away . He was so charismatic and good looking it’s awful to think on how he died .RIP

I was within 10 feet of Tony bLiar in 1997. He was taller than I thought he would be. I'm hoping next time I see the twat, he'll be swinging from a lamp post, post war crimes trial at the Hague (one can live in hope)

I talked to Tim Tebow on the phone last year. I told him it was way better than talking to the president

@AlleyKat.

I hope the cunt swings for the crimes of treason he commited against his own country before any war crime stuff. Any Hague court can have his festering carcass afterwards to deal with.

I once almost walked into the President of my country. Literally. There were a lot of people around, so i turned around to check if my family was still with me, and when i turned back I was just about to walk over him. Didn't, thankfully, but it would have been my fault. Sorry :(

Yes. My family vacationed in Key Biscayne, Florida where president-elect Nixon stayed. He later built a home there but prior to that stayed at a hotel Key Biscayne fHotel (now Ritz, I think; it was torn down and rebuilt). He used to stay in one of the villas on the beach and when i was a kid i waited outside the hotel dining room where a secret service agent sat while Nixon was having dinner. The agent walked me over to Nixon when he came out of the restaurant and made sure he greeted me and signed an autograph. Nixon asked me if i had been to the lighthouse yet and i sat there and stared at him and managed a no and he said oh, pat and I always go there as soon as we arrive.

My Dad introduced me to President Kennedy when I was 4 years old. We shook hands and I curtsied, lol. Ironic because a few years later, my Dad worked with Jim Garrison on the Kennedy assassination case.

I used to wait on George HW Bush and Barbara Bush when I lived and worked in Kennebunkport,ME. Met Hillary Clinton when she was first lady and have a photo taken with her.

Flashy Vic said...

My sister (not American) has met both then President Clinton and VP Al Gore, on separate occasions.

She said Clinton was very charismatic she could see how you'd get swept up in his spell but she wanted to count her fingers after shaking hands with him.
Gore, she said was "dead in the eyes and slimy" and that she jokingly thought that all the tin foil hatter talk of reptilians might have a point after all.

Yes, I took a photo with Bill Clinton and he is absolutely magnetic!

I was eating a late lunch outside on sidewalk seating at one of your generic Manhattan delis during one of the UN general sessions weeks and a group of people in start to walk by. There are a bunch of the deli workers outside eating too and they start to cheer and are shaking one of the guys hand. I asked after them after the guy left and it was the President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon.

Really @sinkbella!!! John Jr....looked for him in NYC in 93. Saw the Kennedy yacht but no sign of the Prince. Amazing!

I met Oscar AND Caroline Goodman - twice!
(And, Oscar remembered me from the first time!)
Does that count as a leader of a country?
The Country of Las Vegas!

AbbyRock: You are my new she-ro! Jim Garrison is someone I have always respected and looked up to. He really put it all on the line, didn't he! Was your dad one of the characters in Kevin Costner's JFK?

As a member of a news crew, I got a chance to get up-close-and-personal to a lot of people over the years. The nastiest, rudest person we had to deal with? Tony Randall.

fionafab said...

Krab: I met King Abdullah's dad.

I watched Air Force One come in for a landing at a nearby airport once (Obama was on board)... does that count?

I met Margaret Thatcher just before she was voted Prime Minister for the first time. I was working at a bookshop opposite Radio Manchester where she was taking part in an interview. My boss spotted her emerging from the studio and dragged me over the road to meet her. She was the Education Minister at the time and we talked a little about that and shook hands. Very gracious, elegant and charismatic person.

@ Boo Hearne: I was once engaged to a man whose father was an eminent surgeon and professor. I met him quite a few times and got on really well with him along with my then-future mother-in-law.
Anyway, my fiance told me that his father the surgeon was friends with the King of Jordan as he had operated on the King's nephew and saved his life. In return, the King gave him a priceless Faberge egg which he kept in his Swiss vault. They lived in Switzerland then and later moved to Manhatten. I was just wondering if it was King Abdullah's nephew? My father-in-law to be was an esteemed liver surgeon .

I was invited to the White House when I was in high school to celebrate Reagan’s birthday on his final year as president. Wonderfully nice man, I idolized him. I was in the Youth 2 Youth movement that Nancy started. Sat one table over from Al Gore when he was a at a fundraising dinner in Nashville aspfter he was a private citizen. I didn’t even recognize him- my husband had to tel, me it was him. He had gained a lot of weight.

AbbyRock said...

Boo, my Dad and others would have been composites of characters in JFK.

Trying to convince him to record what he knows. Dad would never share much because he said his first duty was to protect his family. The only thing he ever shared was that our neighbors who were doctors doing their residencies in the Charity Hospital ER and both said that one night in early November 1963, a weird character was brought in as a drug od. He kept yelling, "They're going to kill the President in Dallas!". They all thought he was talking out of his head. The weird guy was David Ferrie. He didn't die until a few years later.
When I asked Dad if the docs had ever talked to the FBI, he said, "No, because of their families. Witnesses have been murdered."

fionafab said...

AbbyRock: We need more blinds like this one, Enty! Look at the fabulous responses! Your dad was a very intelligent man! So many people have lost their lives over the murder. Dorothy Kilgallen (sic) died mysteriously. David Ferrie and others were petrified for years. Could he write it under another name? I can totally see why he would want to leave that subject alone.

The spookiest thing about this that involved me was calling my father and telling him Oswald was going to be killed ten minutes before it happened! I was asleep, had a dream Oswald was about to die, woke up, called my dad and told him. I was really upset. We needed him to remain alive to get to the bottom of the conspiracy. My dad was upset that I was upset. He kept saying, "We've got the TV on, Boo. Don't worry. He's surrounded by police. Nothing is going to...oh, shit! Oh my god! Son of a bitch, somebody just shot him!" I shook for two days.

fionafab said...

Kim: That Faberge Egg is worth a stinking fortune! Millions! A friend of mine back home collected them and had to sell them to pay off his legal fees when he killed his boyfriend. Maybe you saw the film? Midnight In The Garden of Good & Evil? That was my friend, Jim Williams.

The only person who collected them as avidly was Danielle Steel's late husband, John Trainor. He sadly died way too young. A real doll.

I have often said to my daughter that there are lots of interesting posters on this site who are way too smart to be answering gossip questions. You all need to share more.

Have you all noticed that this week I have been totally on-topic and not adding stuff? Trying really hard.

AbbyRock said...

WOW Boo, dreaming Oswald would be murdered to shut him up!
Have you read, "Dr. Mary's Monkey"? It's an excellent read on some of the background of the assassination.

I lived in Central America during from 1983 to 1992 as a child of diplomats.
I met Barbara Bush in El Salvador, at an Embassy tea. She was gracious and took a photo with me.
I I met President Duarte of El Salvador in the early 1980's.
Later met General Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua in the early 1990's and played hostess for my father when he would come to the house.
I attended a conference and met Bill Clinton after his presidency. He was very charismatic.
Took an Air Force jet with Sen. Jessie Helms. Not a fan, but he was kind and shared his meals with us (government dependents getting a free ride back to the US) and didn't have to do so or even let us on board.
My father had to arrange a visit by Dan Quayle when he was VP. He said he was dumb as shit and made uncomfortable remarks, bordering on racist, to the host country officials in conversation. He also said Dan's wife was a bitch.
My father would get lots of scoop from Secret Service folks because he had to coordinate for the US Embassy. They told him Bill and Hillary fought like cats and dogs, and she once threw a lamp at him!
God, I'm old! Thankfully some of you referenced the Reagan years, so you might know the people I'm talking about!

I met Bill Clinton. Never thought him sexy until I shook hands with him. He just has this charisma about him. I can see why women drop their panties around him. I would have.

Was seated with then President Reagan during a business lunch at the WH. He was charming, but I still hated his politics. President Clinton was able to make you feel like you were the only person in the room, though he was shaking hundreds of other hands. Was part of a small social event with Al Gore 2 years ago - he was charismatic and funny, nothing like the political robot seen on the campaign trail. Same goes for Hilary Clinton, I met her at a small fundraiser/birthday last year and she was lovely (and mostly off duty, talking about her grandchildren with the other grandparents there). I saw Laura Bush having a gossipy lunch with two other women in Manhattan a few years ago (must have been visiting her daughters) and she looked 10 years younger and tons happier than when W was in office.
And the Dalai Lama told me to keep smiling.

No, but my grandfathers 1st cousin was one of Sturgess's gang in the CIA. He was in Dallas, also involved with other things. He could have shot Kennedy. In real life, we share a last name.

Up. Musharraf and his Min of Finance when he was in power in Pakistan.MoF went to sign Amex and said "usually people pay ME for my signature " I said sarcastically "reeeally sir, and why would that be?" Cause I didn't know who they were. He couldn't really reply coz they'd ditched security to go shopping (Australasia). So he asked to borrow the scissors on my counter, trimmed his moustache onto the floor, and left. I recognized him on the headline news a few hours later haha

I saw Nixon give a speech at O'Hare airport in '72/'73? Skipped school to do it and tried to spin it as a political field trip when caught.

Back in 1964 Lyndon Johnson campaigned with Robert Kennedy in Brooklyn. For some crazy reason my mother took my four year old sister and me to watch the procession. I was an infant at the time. We were right up front. As the limo went by the crowd started to surge, and my mother, fearing I would be crushed, tossed me into the limo. The Secret Service men pulled me out and escorted the three of us to safety. Does that count?

Thank you Boo. I know it sounds like a crazy story but it is true. There are photos of the procession. You can see it was an open limo surrounded by the Secret Service. https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryPorn/comments/57rmqh/lyndon_johnson_campaigns_with_robert_kennedy_in/

Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43 and Obama. I also met Hillary at a black tie event where she was honored. In the ladies room. I was washing my hands, she was bitching at someone on the phone. She was more attractive in person than I expected. Or maybe it was the lighting in the bathroom.

I saw Bush, Jr as he campaigned at my university. My grandfather met both Stalin and Trotsky when he was doing relief work in Russia after the Bolshevik revolution. My other grandparents would get teased by old friends in Memphis when they lived in Arkansas. Their friends would say they saw their Governor, Bill, more because he often dined with a particular mistress at a restaurant they both frequented.

The pope and the King of Norway, I only saw them

Met LBJ when I was a little kid. All I remember is he was very tall. I met Bill Clinton during his 2nd term. Always thought he was ugly from pictures but in person he was actually good-looking and had an electric presence. I understood the groupies chasing him.
