They didn't have to sit next to eachother at all, but they did. Alec thanked almost no one in his speech and pretty much ran off the stage, but he somehow managed to thank Tina 3 times. I'm sure they're not the best of friends, but I don't think they hate each other. They seemed awfully close and friendly at the Peabody Awards a couple of months ago.
