although grieco sounds good on paper...i don't think the 80's a-list tv and movie star works for him. if you look on imdb, his work with 21 jumpstreet was in '88 & '89 and all of his other work in the 80's was on tv only. i think we might have to move on to another....

Jaleel White (Urkel), according to IMDB, has literally no movie credits in the 80s. Plus, in his bio, they state he is "anti-alcohol and drugs".

Judd Nelson, also according to IMDB, only has a couple of TV credits during the 80s, and they were cameo-level roles.

That would appear to rule both these guesses out, although of the two, the Judd Nelson one looks a bit stronger.

Richard Grieco filmed a scene from his Jump Street spinoff, "Booker" in the alley behind my apartment back in the day. Longtime Vancouverites will recall that just like the production company and the network, after Johnny decided the life of a teen idol was not for him and left the show, glimpses of Grieco's brooding mug around town were all we had. (Can I get a witness here, my fellow Van City peeps? The Johnny Years were a golden time for us, were they not? Sigh.)

So yeah, I waited until they were taking a break and asked the unctuous Mr. Grieco for an autograph (he obliged, unctuosly). File him under those crushes you look back on just a few years later and see him and his girlishly overplucked eyebrows one night in some horrible sci-fi/horror movie and wonder WHAT the HELL was I thinking???

I'm over it now, thank goodness, and find him irretrievably creepy, like everyone else. But I probably still have the headshot he signed somewhere. I think he's an awesome guess for this BI. His energy was all cokey and creepy, and that was all the way back in 1990.

Not related to this BI but still on the topic of Jump Street, Peter DeLuise (who played Doug Penhall) is not only a success behind the camera these days - mostly still here in Vancouver - but still acts sometimes and has turned into a stone fox!
