I have worked in the public (State's Attorney's Office) and private sectors and I can say this much....no one knows what happened if they weren't in the room. The gov't has a duty to pursue a case if it's a he said/she said situation with no outside corroboration from an independent witness or witnesses. They have a duty to protect the public at large. Is the system perfect? Hell no. But sometimes it IS easier to just plead guilty and take the licks than to fight something that is going to boil down to the two sides telling their side of the story and a court deciding who's more credible. Cuts down on time/expense of defense and gets everyone on with their lives. I wouldn't put any weight into the "something must have happened or they would drop the charges" with out knowing specifically the facts of what they are accusing him of doing and if he has a defense. <BR/><BR/>My impression had been that they hit him up for some big bucks and when he refused, insulted him and his wife, and that he may have forcefully ejected them from his suite. Nobody went to the doctor; no photos were taking of bruises. <BR/><BR/>I hope he doesn't plead guilty. The offender has to admit guilt to a minor offence, then the police will caution him as to his future behaviour and the caution is kept on record for five years. It's a way of keeping the courts for more serious charges.<BR/><BR/>The alternative for CB is a full court case with all the families dirty laundry out in public.
