DMX's House Raided--12 Dying Pit Bulls Seized

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department conducted a raid this morning at the Cave Creek, Arizona home of rapper/actor DMX.

Relying on a tip, deputies entered the home and grounds and seized 12 pit bulls who were all sick and many close to death. DMX -- real name Earl Simmons was not at home at the time of the raid.

This is not the first time DMX has had a problem taking care of his "pets." In 2002, DMX plead guilty to animal cruelty for neglecting 13 pit bulls. As part of that sentence he was required to film public service announcements speaking out against animal abuse.

Guess he should have watched his own PSA's.

  1. I cannot believe jamie Foxx has stated that this is some normal part of the black culture. If I was black, I would be outraged by that statement and the actions of these disgusting fools.

  2. doesn't he have enough money to hire somebody adequate to take care of them? ughs

  3. Since this is now his 2nd offense will he be banned from having animals under his care? (or lack of care)

  4. What's wrong with these fucking people? I hope AZ sends him to that door tent city prison, where he can rot in 120 degree heat for a few years.

  5. I love dogs.

That said (and skip this if you don't care. I would skip it too) When I moved to Nashville I found an affordable house with wha5t I was looking for (a fireplace and more importantly a fence in the backyard. I had 2 shih-tzu's that had traveled the country with me and I loved the idea of lettin them out and not worrying about them wanderin)
What I did not know is that the person who lived in half of the duplex next to me had 3 pitbulls in his tiny space. One slept underneath the bathroom sink, due to lack of space.
Anyway one unfortunate day said person had all 3dogs out while I had let my dogs out in the backward before I went to work. A pitt jumped my fence and ripped one of my dogs wide open.

He survived, but painfully. It took over 70 stitches to mend his stomach, that's a lot when you're a one and a half foot tall dog and weigh 11 pounds.

I cannot stand pitbulls but even more I cannot stand their owners. There is no reason to ruin those dogs in order to seem 'tough'.
They are not chains you can wear around your neck nor are they fake gold you can put in your mouth.
I'm more 'death to pitbull owners' than anything. I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm not sorry that such is the way I feel.
How many poodles have eaten librarians walking home from work? How many boxers have aced folks while they were minding their own business?
People who own pitbulls are the same people who should not own guns. Just because it has the potential to be lethal does not mean you have any business with it.

While I hope I am not banned for this, I feel so strongly about this issue that I'm willing to take that chance.

  6. This is quite sad; grown men abusing animals for pleasure, sport, and profit. If you are interested, the folks at Best Friends Animal Society www.bestfriends.org are doing something about dog fighting, and so can you:

If you feel that Michael Vick should be banned for life from the NFL, call Commissioner Goodell at 770-965-3115 and e-mail fans@falcons.nfl.com

  7. Banning pitbulls would do a bit more to advance the cause Kellianne.
Let them live and be healthy at pet compounds. Make it so the breeders can't make a profit.

Won't end it at all, but any inconveniece is a good one

  9. I agree with you Sweater, I love dogs was raised with tons of dogs around me. It sickens me when I hear of poor dogs hurt. I also hate walking down the street when there is a barking growling pit bull on a chain in the front of someones house. I had to change the way I walked my son to and from school because of that dog. It wasn't the dogs fault, it was the owners. I wish there was more you could do about these people. I mean a locking jaw attacking my son scares me so much.

  10. Bless your heart Syddi. You did the right thing by your son. I don't care how many people tell you that pitbulls are normally sweet and good natured.
    Don't take that chance.

When my dog was attacked I did a google that was pretty much "What dog can kick the shit out of a pitbull" (sorry for the language but as you can imagine I was pretty mad)

Mastiffs. Those are the ones that can counter them. I'll look for the link if anyone is interested.
Pretty much broke down to general strength of the animal and the fact that they have so much loose skin around their neck (which is what any predator goes for) that they can counter attack.

I'm sorry for the soapbox posting. This is honestly one of the very few subjects I'm really passionate about.

While I'm sure there are awesome nobel prize type people who own pits, I've yet to meet them. What I've encountered are people who have no business taking care of a dog.

    ReplyDelete
  11. They are starting to get the Mastiffs for the same reason.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Ving Rhames thing aside, Mastiffs don't have the inbreeding problem pit's do.

Here's a link (that I'm pretty sure is unbiased, but if it isn't don't hate me) based on human attacks due to Pits.
    http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.html

According to the Clifton study, pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes are responsible for 74% of attacks that were included in the study, 68% of the attacks upon children, 82% of the attacks upon adults, 65% of the deaths, and 68% of the maimings. In more than two-thirds of the cases included in the study, the life-threatening or fatal attack was apparently the first known dangerous behavior by the animal in question. Clifton states

    and here is a link, it's pitbulllovers.com.

  13. btw the pitbulllovers link tries to blame the person killed ^
There ya go. Anyway I'll stop posting in here because I am obviously so biased that it isn't funny:)

Steer clear of pits. I don't care who you are

  14. Does anyone remember the blind item about celebrity? (I think it was an actor--everyone had guessed Shia LeBoif)
Ent: is this the same investigation that you were referring to? Surely there aren't that many celebrities who are into dog fighting????!!!

  15. Just to clarify: I meant the blind item about the celebrity who was being investigate for dogfighting

  16. I think everyone is biased when it comes to pit bulls. I'm sure there nice dogs when treated right, and not inbred. Its just I have a son, I don't care how nice your pit bull is he isn't going to be around him. I feel the same about chow chows.

I think the real issue is that the people who fight animals forget that its a huge public safety problem. Imagen if one of these dogs got loose and was running around a neighborhood.

i have yet to meet a pit bull owner who wasn't a complete fucking moron. and they are all complete fucking morons because they all say that their pit bull would never attack someone, because their pit bull is gentle, loved, well treated family pet. it doesn't matter how well you treat a pit bull, killing was bred into it's genetic code and there is nothing any pit bull owner can to change that. pit bull owners can only make the dog worse. a tiger can't change it's stripes

  18. My mother-in-law's deceased Yorkie was also attacked by a pit bull.

According to my husband, who is a criminal defense attorney, a lot of lowlifes get these pit bulls not only to look "tough" but to protect their drug stashes. More and more, when police officers raid these homes, they are encountering charging pit bulls.

I don't want to generalize, but I am not a fan of these dogs or their owners. I cannot fathom why anyone (especially someone with small children) would want to own a pit bull, given the stats.

And those who abuse their dogs or train them to hurt others are sick bastards.

some woman down the street owned a pitbull, and she let it lose on the street i saw him kill another dog right in my front lawn i was petrified. i was just getting home it could have easily been me instead. those dogs are not meant to be pets, i also feel they should be banned.

  21. "People who own pitbulls are the same people who should not own guns. Just because it has the potential to be lethal does not mean you have any business with it."

They're usually the worst dog owners regardless of the breed. As part of the black community I have to say I've seen this a few times. Not that my peeps mistreat dogs, but they almost never give the proper care and excercise which is necessary, especially for stronger breeds like pitbulls. They are high maintenance dogs.

When my nephew passed away, his parents inherited his pitbull puppy. He was a sweet dog, but my brother and sister-in-law would never walk him. As he got bigger and stronger he would jump over the fence and roam the neighborhood scaring the crap out of everyone. He didn't hurt anyone. He was still a puppy.

He ate through his leash and still managed to jump even with an anti-jump harness on him. They had to chain him to a telephone with a chain to keep him from doing this. And that's about the worst thing you can do to a pitbull. Makes them aggressive.

Even though he was a symbol of connection of their deceased son, they wisely gave up the dog. Made sure they gave him to an organization that would place him a proper home.

On the other end of the spectrum I have another sis-in-law who grew up with a pitbull as the family pet. Never had a problem with him. My sister has an American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull family) that's so non-agressive he jumps when you say 'boo!'

  22. Just because assclowns like DMX, Michael Vick, Jamie Foxx and their ilk do horrible things to Pit Bulls doesn't mean the dog is in and of itself a blood thirsty killing machine hell bent on eating little children for breakfast... Pit bulls are just the latest dog to be bred for and misused by morons.

First it was the Bloodhound, sensationalized in the dramatizations of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Then it was the Doberman Pinscher, symbol of the Nazi menace for a nation at war. Today, it is the Pit bull that is vilified for the depravity of his master. At perhaps no time in history has mankind been as ignorant of natural canine behavior as we find ourselves at the beginning of the 21st century. The human/dog bond—the most complex and profound inter-species relationship in the history of mankind—has now been reduced to a simple axiom: Breed of dog = degree of dangerousness.

Today, police chase down fleeing Pit bulls in the street, firing dozens of wild shots in response to media-fed rumors of supernatural Pit bull abilities. Politicians coach and nurture this fear with their own brand of rhetoric used to assist in the passing of quick and ineffective legislation created to pacify communities ignorant of the real cause for dog attacks. Hundreds of animal shelters throughout the country kill all unclaimed Pit bull-looking dogs, as they are deemed "unadoptable" solely on their physical appearance.

In a society unparalleled in its access to information and ability to control our natural environment, we now claim that we are unable to master our dogs. Unwilling to assume responsibility for the control and care of our canine companions, we instead hang entire breeds of dogs in effigy for the sins of their owners. Society now accepts this “solution to the dog bite problem” because we have been placated by a Pit Bull Placebo.

Like the pharmacologically inactive sugar pill dispensed to pacify a patient who supposes it to be medicine, eradication of the Pit bull is heralded as the cure for severe dog attacks. However, a placebo is administered solely to appease a person's mental duress. In the present day climate of fear and misinformation about Pit bulls and dog attacks, eradication of the Pit bull is the placebo administered to ease the public's mental anxiety. This, of course, does not address the underlying causes of why dogs attack and how they have been allowed access to their victims...

well there is a sixty year old postal worker out here in LA who's face was bitten off and it wasn't a placebo or a cocker spaniel doing the biting.

  25. Thanks kindly Jax for reminding us that this story is really about the abuse of animals. No matter what the breed, I can't believe any thinking, feeling human would approve of animal abuse for sport, profit, or pleasure.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm so sorry about your nephew Theflock.

Jax discussing the breed in question is most certainly not off topic. If you don't appreciate reading the discussion, I'm fairly certain it's a large internet and you can idle elsewhere.

  27. I feel bad for the animals, its just unimaginable that someone would treat there dogs like that. there are shelters full of abused dogs that are violent because of how they were treated. Its sad that they have no care for animal life. And then once you talk about pit bulls you are going to get people talking about what they know about them. Most people know that they are attack dogs, and that they hurt little animals and children. When we talk about Britney Spears we say the same things and no one gets upset.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous8:44 AM

I think you have to treat the root of the problem, which is the dog owner, not the dog. You ban Pitt Bulls and they will find another breed to exploit the same way - I do NOT own a pit bull and am not necessarily advocating them - they are a 'special' breed that requires a certain type of owner who can handle them but I think it is unfair to blame the animal... when Britney's kids grow up and are a mess, are you going to blame the kids or Britney?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree its the owners, but not all dogs have locking jaws. So pit bulls are very dangerous, especially when they have been treated poorly, or have been bread to fight. Any over breeding in a dog makes a violent dog that is unsafe. So its the breeders who destroy a breed for money, and the owner who bought the dog for looks.

About Brittney's kids, we will blame the kids. Look what we do to Lohan and Britney, we tear them apart on blogs for fun. Trust me they didn't get that great of a childhood.

  30. Okay, don't go knockin' Pit Bulls. We adopted a Grade A US mutt and he turns out to be half Pit. The other half is Yellow Lab.

He's the sweetest, most gentle creature around the family. If you threaten myself or my children, he'll rip your leg off! You can't ask for a better dog, a better pet. We're his 3rd home after being adopted out twice and originally found in a trash can. He was even dognapped in San Antonio by some thugs that wanted to use him to guard their drug house - but he came back through luck and good people.

The breed isn't the issue - the sick f*cks that don't raise them, train them, and socialize them are the issues. Don't kill a dog for the crimes of a human, punish the human filth the commits the crime.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That Merritt Clifton study is totally inaccurate and not based on full and substantiated info. It doesn't use actual dog bite reports/statistics. It uses (some) media reports. Great to do a study, but at least do one that has some science behind it, not using (some)reports from the media that often only report the attacks that are going to sell stories.
