I Don't Even Know How Two Girdles Would Work

I can't decide whether or not I like her. There's something about her that just screams false to me. I always get the feeling that she's always played up the "girl next door" personality because that's the kind of face she has; in the same way that Angelina plays up the "vamp" personality.
She'll say something completely down to earth and "aw shucks" but then she'll make some random "hollywood" comment. She's always been obsessed with her body though. I think she thinks the insecurity makes her relatable.
I am at a loss to explain two girdles. How uncomfortable the thought, though.
Hey Jennifer. You seem to be rather stupid so let me help you out. If you need to where two girdles to get into something then you're not wearing the right size. I'm sure it will pain you to wear a 2 or a 4 instead of a 0 or a 2 but seriously just GO UP A SIZE!!
Twit.
I'm wondering if she's wearing two girdles in different spots: One for tummy, one for fupa/gunt (choose your preferred term)

That's terrible. Girdles are uncomfortable.
The life of stardom is totally different from what most of us think it is ... however, I only find slim people appealing.
hmmm...that explains her constipated look that we call her "red carpet look".
Girdle on top of a girdle? Ye-ouch. Why even try to squeeze into a dress that small? You can't go up a size Jen? Really?! My heart breaks.
Jen is clearly not a size two. She looks to be a 6 or an 8. Fresh off the runway only ever comes in one size. They do make the dresses using small amounts of fabric and to fit the generic size runway girl. The designers then loan the sample dresses to the stars. I don't see anything wrong with her comments. And she is a bit of a bigger girl for hollywood. I would not be a happy camper if I was that big myself.
She may need to control the belly/hip area - the girdle for that would squish flesh up to the abs area, which would then need a separate foundation garment overlapping the midsection to the top of the hip.
If it's fresh off the runway, it may not have the normal couture construction a mature woman would need; most high-end evening gowns have foundation garments built in. You actually don't need any underwear, maybe beyond a thong, when you wear them.
Runway garments are sewn and re-sewn for design reasons up til minutes before the girls walk, so they may have no infrastructure at all.
That said..this woman is so dumb.
Yea, maybe if I wear three girdles they'll send me some free stuff to wear and I won't bitch about it.
Sure she could go up - but then she would have to pay for it. The horror!
She's a bigger girl for Hollywood? WTF?
Runway samples only come in one size so, yes, it's either fit into this or have something specially made. I doubt the issue for her is cost so much as status and reputation.
I don't think hypocritical is the right word, though. She's oblivious.
I don't understand the resentment towards Garner at all, actually.
I don't think it's a matter of having to purchase a dress in her size... what stars wear on the red carpet, especially that of women, are examined, reviewed, critiqued time and time again by the media worldwide. Of course a star won't want to wear a designer's collection from a previous year; she would want to wear something fresh, new and unique or else run the risk of being lampooned for her choice of clothing.
But as noted by other posters, dresses "fresh from the runway" are sample sizes, which are modeled by, often times, 14-year-old girls.
I find it refreshing that Garner is talking about these kinds of issues. She's smaller than probably 90 percent of American women (the average size for American women is a size 14). If she can't fit into designer clothes modeled on the runway, realistically, who else can?
I also would think she maybe a size 4 now. I bet she was a 2 before the baby.
I love that she admits to wearing two girdles. This is why she walks down that red carpet... her ass does not shake in two different directions. Plus it will stop the chances of you busting the seams out of a very tight dress.
Tho it does explain the times her boobs are smashed so flat that they are trying to escape through the neckline of her dress.
Should anyone including Garner really care about this? Why not take a stand against the fashion industry and the media in general, (ent. I'm talking to you...) and wear something that actually fits her? Christ, she's got a great body. And even though the average size of an American woman is 14, that doesn't mean it's healthy or normal.
I am not really a Garner fan, Rachel, but I don't know that my reaction qualifies as resentment. Maybe it is for some people. For me, it is just one more person (though I DO believe that pretty much no woman is happy with her body and we have various cultural and societal pressures to "thank" for that) who needs to consider her own privilege.
And David, chances are good you are speaking from a lot of internalized fat-phobia. I assure you, a huge range of sizes can be both normal and healthy.
