Fast And Furious Together Again
Michelle Rodriguez has just signed on for the Fast And The Furious 4 which means the entire original cast of the first film is in place. I know most of you probably hated the first film, but I actually thought it was pretty damn great and since this is my blog I have to say that I am pretty damn excited that the entire cast is coming back.
If Vin Diesel didn't get such a big ass head. Well, he does have a big head, so maybe I should have said, if Vin Diesel's ego didn't grow as large as his head, they would have done this film five years ago. Instead I will have had to wait 8 years between the two. Here is the list of the people who made the worst career choices ever in order of time. Shelley Long, David Caruso, Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel. Yes, there are others, but these are people who gave up great roles they were already in. You don't think that has crossed Matt Damon's mind a few times and played a big part in him signing on to do more Bourne films. You don't give up the franchise roles. David has made his way back to where he was and maybe above. Ben Affleck is more well known, but hasn't had a great role in a long time.
I am sure Vin Diesel is hoping this will put him in the David Caruso column rather than the Shelley Long column.
suzanne somers could be at the beginning of that list.
ReplyDeleteStupid question (please forgive) but what was the big role D. Caruso gave up? I thought he was just the guy from CSI. Did he have some other memorable role?
ReplyDeleteI met Vin Diesel at the lake about..ohh i'd say 3 years ago.
ReplyDeleteGay.
no question.
AT ALL.
and i know gay when i see it and the tongue down the twinks throat he was with def helped me see.
but awesome i liked Fast n Furious.
brenda i beleive he was on NYPD Blue and left for 'movies' that never really panned out. he tried to pull a clooney.
ReplyDeletebrenda22 - he left NYPD Blue at the height of his popularity to make movies. Made 2 BAAAAD movies and then begged his way back into TV.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the bad career choice Ben made?
jax - next time you see Vin, can you give him my number. ;)
Thanks. Guess now he's content playing cops.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad Jordana Brewster is back too. I've loved her since "As the World Turns."
ReplyDeleteSO TRUE that Vin Diesel is gay...I heard some rather saucy stories from a few gay friends working as actors in LA two summers ago. I always did think it was kinda stupid and snobby for Vin to refuse to do the sequels. LOL. Now he's eating crow. Paul Walker is sooo fucking hot, and for some reason I still love Michelle Rodriguez (the Lost fan in me, I guess).

ReplyDeleteJLo.
i think he was up here filming Pacifier at the time...ill for surely send him your way next time DN!
I would also put Jimmy Smits on that list. What was it about NYPD Blue that made people think they were more than they were?
ReplyDeleteWhile Vin never did it for me, he walked right past me at the Regency in NYC and he looked pretty damn good. I wished now that I would have paid more attention to who he was with.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I think he's more content with getting a paycheck and having a few people be impressed with his "celebrity", as opposed to liking to play a cop.
ReplyDeleteHe always struck me as a smug horses ass. I think he dumped his wife after he finally struck gold with CSI? Not sure though, so don't quote me.
Stephen, Jimmy Smits already had cred. He has been around for like ever. He's done tons of movies and was in L.A. Law.
ReplyDeleteI thought Ben Affleck was great in Hollywoodland! He needs to choose roles like those instead of playing a hero, I think.
ReplyDeleteFor years the worst career choices were said to be made by Pernell Roberts {Bonanza} and McLean Stevenson {M*A*S*H*} who both left highly rated shows and never again found that level of success.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a fansite of NYPD Blue Smits left because...
...he had problems adjusting to the improvisatory work habits of writer/co-creator David Milch, who would sometimes turn in script pages only minutes before the scene in question was to be shot.
I recall an interview with Milch who admitted he was deeply under the influence of drugs or alcohol {don't remember which} that caused him to drive the cast crazy with constant last minute script changes. Supposedly that's the real reason Smits left.
yeah, about benny boy, which role did he pass up, though? which franchise did he walk away from, that would involve matt damon? what was the already established role?
ReplyDeletei'm like, eight years behind or something.
seriously, what great role did Ben Affleck give up? I don't remember him being in anything like that...
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the first one, it reminded me of a young "Point Break," which is another one of my favorite movies. So, I'm actually looking quite forward to this movie... That and I love a good car movie. So, Woo Hoo.
