Why I Am A little Freaked Out

For the most part on this blog, nothing really freaks me out. I have been a little edge a few times about some posts I have written and double checking with people to make sure something is true, but there really have only been a few times that I have been freaked out. The first was a few days after the Vanessa Hudgens photos came out. When you get an e-mail from the FBI asking you who your attorney is so they can contact them, and also citing US child porn statutes in their e-mail, you get a little freaked. When you actually verify that it is not some guy from Nigeria, but rather a FBI agent, then you get a little more freaked. When you decide that you have decent legal standing and choose to ignore the advice of the FBI you arrange for someone to bail you out of jail just in case.

Those were a scary couple of days. But honestly something happened that freaked me out even more and I am not talking about the note I got from our stranded actress on the highway.

I don't want to say the exact date, and you will see the reasons for it in a minute. So, lets say within a day or two of posting either my last Scientology entry or maybe the one before that, (Again, it will become clear why I am being vague so bear with me) I got a call on one of my cell phones. It is not unusual for me to get calls from unknown or numbers I don't recognize, but not usually on this particular phone. I don't give out the number on the phone that was ringing to very many people, and if I do, I know them and so put their name in contacts.

So, the phone rings, and I don't recognize the number, or even the area code. Now, area codes change all the time but it is not a familiar one. I go on the internet, and look up the area code and prefix. It was 727-461-xxxx.

Yeah, you go look it up and see what it is. I tried to look up the entire number online and it didn't match any number that I found. There were lots of 727-461-xxxx numbers though and they all led to the Church of Scientology.

They didn't leave a message, and they haven't called back. It was probably a wrong number or just a really weird coincidence. They would have to know who I am, and then find the number which isn't easy because it is under a company name not associated with me. Then again, if that phone rings again today with that number again, I am throwing it away. I will still post about them, but that phone will be history.

  2. Maybe it was one of your clients calling from the celebrity center. Are any of your clients Scientologists? BTW one of the moments I doubted you were a lawyer the most was when you posted that Vanessa Hudgens picture.

  3. The other was when you suggested that you weren't in this blog for pecuniary gain. :)

  4. Maybe they were calling to give their side of the story or issue a statement?
    Still I'd be freaked too!

  5. Don't let their Nazi like tactics deter you EL!

  6. I would be freaked out too, honestly. No matter what bs they spew about it these days, 'fair game' still very much exists.
These days intimidation seems to be the way they enforce it the most.

May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed

  7. IIRC, the (ahem) Church of Scientology had one of their cronies stick a rattlesnake with all of its rattles cut off into a mailbox of a complaining type. Admittedly, that was a long time ago, but creepy people do creepy things to climb up that ladder to be nearer to Tom Almighty.

Just a thought...could you hit them with a violation of the Do Not Call List?

  8. Holy, moly Enty, I'd be freaked out too. Do you think a rope of garlic would help repel them, just like the vampires?

Scare tactics are just that - don't stop posting about them.

  9. To add to Ted's train of thought, how about a restraining order, just like they're trying with Anonymous?

  10. So it's a Clearwater, Florida number. According to Wikipedia, Clearwater is the spiritual center of Scientology. It may also be Hulk Hogan's home. So, if it's any comfort, maybe it's not the Scientologists that are after you. Maybe you pissed off the Hogans.

In either case, you should make arrangements for your identity and any suspicious activities to be released to the press/Feds if anything should happen to you.

Well, they haven't done anything yet but an "ominous" no-message phone call.

Ent has a valid defense against anything: his disclaimer at the bottom of the page - some stuff is completely made up. And suffice it to say, ent doesn't get linked to all that often, so it's not like he's spreading hate across the internet. Just here, and our slowly dwindling number of readers.

Good luck, Ent. I'll stand by ya. Although since I work in a psychiatric office, I'm probably a target, too.

  13. I found this on google, where people have posted recently that a certain number from Clearwater called them recently and didn't leave a message etc...

  17. the day you posted that i had my own rant and woke up with my car keyed..the next day my tire was flat and the 3rd day i found a copy of Jerry McGuire in my bed..coincidence?

actually the first 2 are 100% true.
    them Sciencetologeezers are messed UP.

  18. I published an article about $cientology once, and got hang-up calls for 6 months, late at night, when they thought I would be asleep (wrong.)

One of the numbers I traced went to an Oregon town where the $cientologists have one of their indoctrination academies. I like to imagine that a student there was given the assignment of Fair Gaming me in order to graduate. Poor pathetic child.

  19. well, this is could be heavy, but it can just be a coincidence. let´s play serious theories:

    - this is the sects zero cost attention getting / presence showing... :-)

take a computer, let him call all numbers you can lay you hands on, hang up before the call is taken. then, people start searching, questioning, inquiring scientology. and in some cases, they get scared.

    - next time, take the call and whistle three times like a fax machine, then hang up.

-it also would be interesting to know who are your numbers neighbours. Maybe they got one digit wrong and woom, they´re calling you instead of another poor guy. or, if its a "special number" again not associated to the other guy, it may be high ranking scientologue. Maybe it´s TCruise´s number secret number ... hehehe ...you know he needs that kinda phone for his boys.

or, answer the phone in your best latino accent waiting to hear what they say. Maybe its Travolta calling you to help him get out of there...

Maybe you should write a tell-all book and hide the draft, so you have a chip to bargain on.

but for now, take it easy. ;-)

  20. riviera, one of my calls traced back to a glass repair shop that was never open - only had voice mail with a full box.

It's seems to be a pattern.

  21. Ok,now I'm a little freaked. I had two calls today on my cellphone. I get calls from unknown numbers maybe once a year, so two in one day...?
After reading this post, I googled the two (radically different) area codes. The 954-312-xxxx is from Ft. Lauderdale FL. The 407-207-xxxx number was from Orlando FL. "They" left no messages. Maybe I'm paranoid, but my number is on the do not call list.

    ReplyDelete
  22. folks, dont get paranoid. there are a lot of computers calling you to congratulate you for winning a lottery you never heard of.

As you see, it all goes back to Florida. Who knows what they are advertising for. Plus, there is a presidential campaign running. Everybody is buzzing whatever can be buzzed.

So please, just relax. Or, ANSWER THE PHONE, then you will KNOW what´s about, instead of fearing your shadow and feedeing and spreading the fear. Thats why you have the phone in the first place.

  23. Enty, we will become suspicious if you commit suicide or show up missing. I personally will call the authorities, and request them to investigate the matter of the guy who writes the blog......

  24. oh SisterMaryHotPantz, you are the first daring to write this thought....

There we go: Ent, you can send me the reveals now, so i can post them, just in case, ya know...

    you know we´re all kiddn.

    ;-)

  25. I want to make a comment, but I'm too easy to hunt down. How many blondes are there in SoCal? LOL.

Those freaks still try to contact me just because 30 years ago I sent off for a free book on positive thinking. I didn't know then what I know now.

I'm still wondering about the Scientology connection to the "golden couple" who BOTH commited suicide. Get the article from Vanity Fair (www.vf.com).

  27. I completely forgot because it obviously wasn't important, but I got married once by a Scientology minister. She was the only person we could find who'd show up for fifty bucks at a backyard BBQ. Hopefully they filed me under the ex's last name.

you're being paranoid EL. you know, too many people doubt your veracity as it is and this kind of post doesn't help matters.

  29. Duly noted, Enty. Keep posting when things like this happen. They want you to cower and keep quiet. Don't give them that. Get pissed off and blab/blog - always. I hate zealots.

  32. He's not being Paranoid! From what I've found that phone number originated from Clearwater, FL. where they have a lot of operations out of. They have a "health spa" there and were charged with two felony charges of abuse and neglect of a disabled adult and practicing medicine without a license. (look up Lisa McPherson.) And now that I look at the earlier posts for today it's the place where they are filing a potition against Anonymous. The raid is on the 15th and CO$ is trying to counter attack the thousands of people who are going to protest them this weekend. They are gearing up to take down a lot of people before them or scare them to shut them up. It's already getting a lot of attention. One of our "heroes", as you might say, who we call "Wise Beard Man" was on the radio today. Why? On the tenth it was our goal to contact the press and make them aware of what we were doing. What do they do? CO$ goes after bloggers and gets restraining orders! There is a good reason to freak out and why we anonymous wear masks at the protests. They have what is known as "fair game" policy which means that they can take out their SPs by whatever means they want. (look up Operation Freakout) If I got I phone call from an unknown number from Clearwater I'd freak out too, sleep with unlisted numbers, and use the net at the library b/c hell, I'm freaked out by their policies.
Funny thing though, they just gave us Anons a lot of publisity.

    Knowledge is free!

If ENT commits suicide, I will be able to present hardcore evidence to get the police to investigate it further.

Police: Do you feel that this person is one who would have contemplated taking his own life?

Brenda: Hell no! BRANGELINA ain't married yet! No way he'd off himself before then!

  38. Wow. Very interesting. Check under your car every night EL.

  39. How about, instead of being paranoid for what may be no reason at all, call the number back from a pay phone or an unlisted anonymous number and get to the bottom of this?

I think the whole thing is a bit silly ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. i agree with the "maybe being paranoid" camp, but then again, i've done an awful lot of reading about these guys.
if it happens again, ent, make sure your real-life close friends know. it's not impossible to get find out an unlisted, no call number, and they have people planted in high places. they are trying (with more and more success in spite of local protest) to open one of their narconon operations not far from my home.
    again, folks, check out XENU.NET.
on the lighter side, jax, you took the words right out of my mouth! i was thinking KATIE! she's come to her senses!
    ha!

  41. Yeahh, I'd be careful with this. You can throw away that phone, but if they want to get to you, they will.

Now I'm not trying to scare you, but you pretty much know the deal and how crazy they can get.

If you are really concerned, I'd advise you to contact Mark Bunker (who runs xenutv.com)at xenutv@hotmail.com . He has been through it all, been stalked, had his house picketed, they've researched his past yada yada. I've gotten in contact with him before, and he's very helpful.

BionicBunny is right, you should all check out xenu.net, and also xenutv.com

  42. Don't worry Enty, Lainey is FAR harsher on the Scieo-freaks than you are and she hasn't been phone attacked (that we know of). It was probably just a wrong number,

Plot, I can imagine that scenario. Those poor kids being brainwashed into abusing anyone that disagrees with their whackjob parents, it's child abuse.

And just think, it's where Isabella and Connor Cruise spent the summer (the Oregon indoctrination camp). Think how many poor innocent people were crank called night after night by Tommy girl's kids!

    Watch over your shoulder Entie.
