So I Guess Kirsten Will Be Suing Everyone? Nope

Ahhh, Kirsten Dunst. I have a love hate relationship with you, and this one really tests the limits. I really wanted to talk about this yesterday, but just didn't have the chance. According to an interview Kirsten gave to E!, she sought treatment at Cirque because she was depressed. This of course comes just a few days after reports drifted out of the atmosphere that Eva Mendes was at Cirque to research a role. No one would ever go there for substance abuse except for Lindsay Lohan.

To make matters worse, Kirsten said that anyone who makes fun of depression or talks about her depression is a really bad person. So, basically she gives an interview to talk about her depression, but no one else can ever talk about the fact she is depressed or we are really bad people. I think she lost me at what the hell is she depressed about anyway? The fact that for some roll of the dice somewhere she has made somewhere close to $40M from acting?

Perhaps she is depressed because she can't decide if she should vacation in Hawaii again or perhaps try Europe. The thing is, that when she says crap like this, it makes light of people who really are depressed.

Kirsten says that reports of her being at Cirque for drug or alcohol abuse are wrong. "I didn't go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse. I went there for depression. It was a good six months before I decided to go away.

"I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it."

So, of course Kirsten will be suing all the tabloids right? They all reported she was there for either drugs or alcohol or both and so she must be going to sue. Right? Ummm. No. How come? Please.

I don't know why she really went to Cirque Lodge, but depression is a real thing. I have a great hubby, wonderful kids, a job I love, a beautiful home and lots of friends. I ended up in the hospital for depression. Clinical depression does not hit people based on socioeconomic status (not that mine is great or anything!) It can happen to anyone at any time. I just want to make that clear that just because someone has worldly possessions they cannot be depressed.

That said...I don't know what to think about Kirsten other than that she seems like a real mess and hope she gets better, whatever her problems are. I have liked watching her since she was a little girl and would hate to see her throw her life away.

BS Kiki they don't admit you for depression at a substance abuse clinic.

her only struggle was deciding between doing coke and heroin.
own it girl or you will be right back where you started.

Cirque is clear that to be admitted, you MUST have an alcohol or drug addiction. Eva and Kirsten are both full of it. Deny deny deny, right?

i'm sure she has depression but it goes hand in hand with substance abuse.

Depression is an underlying reason that many people use drugs - they self-medicate. so she could be tellng a half-truth.

This isn't news to anyone who knows anything about drug addiction - neither is the fact that many people scorn drug addicts because they need someone to feel better than.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

These actors they live in Never Never Land. Always deny no matter what.

Depression would explain why she usually looks homeless. She clearly is not taking good care of herself. I know it's a chicken/egg situation, but I'd bet the depression is a result of the drugs and not vice-versa. Or at least the drugs made the situation a lot worse. She was spotted smoking pot well before she started to look so pathetic, and pot can cause depression. (Yes, I know it doesn't do that for everyone, so don't get mad at me 420 folks! :) )

I don't know why anyone would do that when it's so much easier to scorn stupid people. That's why I watch reality tv (especially "Top Model").

The reason she doesn't want anyone else to talk about it is because it is more than depression and she fears that will come out. Of course, it all comes out anyway with these celebs....

I blogged about it this morning crossing my fingers and just hoping she gets pissed off about it. If she's a drug addict and that goes hand in hand with her depression, that's one thing, but if she wants to lie about it and say there weren't wasn't any substance abuse or abuse Cirque's rules because of her celebrity status, whatever, then I don't have a lot of respect for that.

Out of curiosity, why would big name stars- who know that a stint in rehab for drugs/drinking/depression go to a place like Cirque? I haven't researched this, but I'd assume that there are many places that people can go to without it making the news. It makes no sense to me at all. Go somewhere secret if you want it secret. Isn't Cirque the "Ivy" of rehab places? Aren't the paps standing out there waiting to catch someone famous?
That said- they shouldn't be embarrassed, or denying their problems. We are all human, and we all have our problems. Dealing with them is admirable. As sad as Kiki is for blaming depression (come on- who really believes that is her only problem?), Eva Mendes disgusted me. Saying she was researching a role is digusting.
Anyone with substance abuse/depression issues need to take care of them. They go hand in hand alot of times. But why go to somewhere where everyone will find out, and then deny it?

What jax and fish^ said.

Don't believe the publicists. Rehab facilities treat substance abuse, not depression.

Same goes for Promises, BTW. So when Britney was there, she wasn't being treated for a mental health disorder, she was being treated for addiction, plain and simple.

well ill tell you right now Eva is full of shit and im pissed about it.
She was part of the new show for MTV called 4Real which took celebs around the globe looking at real issues and learning from them etc. well Eva ends up doing hers in Vancouver on the lower east side...crackville. She went around skid row and met with heroin addicts, homelss people from meth etc. she cried her way through the whole episode.

point is she got all the research she needed doing that so i call BULLSHIT on her 'researching a role'

I've always enjoyed her movies (except for Spiderman, dear God I loath me some Spiderman) but I just find her to be totally and completely insufferable...

As someone who has sufferred with serious depression, I can tell you the last thing I wanted to talk about when I was depressed was my depression. Talking about it made it worse.

She does have the clasic signs - not taking care of her physical apperance.

I'm not discounting drugs, but I certainly wouldn't discount depression.

Enty, you know I love you but making fun of depressed people is not appropriate. Next are you going to mock my friend who was born without a left arm? Depression is physical (and yes, it can be brought on by things we do, but so can many other diseases - diabetes, heart disease).

I'll be rooting for Kirsten to get well. There is a light at the bottom of the well. ;)

Suggesting that people who are rich and famous cannot be depressed is a bunch of crap. It's chemical, and you cannot help it.

That having been said, she is lying through her gnarly teeth. You do not go to a rehab center for depression. She is known for being a druggie. I am sure she's just worried this will cost her work with all the Blohan fallout. She isn't that talented or pretty anyway (sorry, but it's true), and her 15 mins are just about up.
