Will There Be Bathroom Sex Involved?

If you have ever wanted to see a talk show being broadcast from the stall of a men's room, now just might be your chance. Russell Brand has been given his very own talk show here in the US. The show which will be eight episodes in length is a result of television executives falling in love with Russell.

I like Russell Brand, but being a good talk show guest doesn't necessarily translate into being a great talk show host. If this were the case, then Richard Simmons would have about 20 Emmy's and 20 years as a talk show host. Don't believe me? Go look at old Letterman clips when Richard Simmons was a guest. Hell of a guest. Would make a lousy talk show host. You just know that at some point, the camera would get just a little to close to those short shorts and an entire generation of people would be frozen in place.

"Don't know what happened to him ma." One day he was watching the television when the crazy dude came on. The camera crashed to the ground and the next thing you know, pa was screaming that his eyes had been burned. He hasn't blinked since."

Yeah! I'll be watching it.

I don't know what it is, but there is just something sexy about him...in an "I need a bath" kind of way!

Love his weekly free podcast too! Gets me through at least one boring workout...

Oh, I guess it bears mentioning that he's been a talk show host in the UK for some time (hence the BBC2 podcast). Hosted Big Brother... stuff like that.

So I don't think this is a result of him just being a good guest on shows, but as a result of his UK work...

Anyway, I'll watch it!

Anytime I see his picture I go into a haze where all I can see, and hear, are the words DOUCHE DOUCHE DOUCHE DOUCHE cascading over and over again. Same thing happens when I see Brandon Davis or Joe Francis. I don't even want to look at this guy. He makes me feel like the unwilling victim in a bukkake party just by looking at him.

Bad fish, I agree with you. I feel like I need a shower and a brain scrubbing with bleach just looking at the people you mention.

I too feel like I need a shower after a little Russell Brand...the problem is subconsiously I seem to be in love with the guy. Sex dreams and the whole bit. I think he is a male skank, and after watching a program of his from five years ago he admitted one of his first sexual experiences was with a Thai hooker as a teenager on a family vacation, and knowing that he is a self professed "sex addict" who spent time in rehab for that last year in the states, I still feel uneasily attracted to him. Kind of like a really bad drug- you know it's bad, hell, it's worse than bad- but it's fun too and you know you would like to try it...

But yeah- Russell Brand has hosted heck of tv and radio programs in the UK. Does that mean that U.S. audiences will watch it? Not necessarily. I would have thought that Graham Norton's U.S. talk show would have done well considering Graham Norton is the most entertaining talk show host in the world- but it wasn't watched and so canceled. And he *is* a talk show host. I doubt Russell Brand's talk show would do better. They'll probably tuck it away on some cable channel in the middle of the night so he can swear unforgivingly and have lots of nudity.

He is actually quite good as a talk show host I have seen all his UK shows like his series Ponderland and Issues. And yes we all know he is dirty and slutty and a shameless ass but there is no need to point that out because he does it himself.

I hope Matt is on the show...I love him on the radio show and in "On the Road" he is truly funnier than Russell. He is probably too shy for TV though. I will be watching because I love Russell and Matt.

I don't know if the US is ready for Brand, subtlety is not is thing....he's crude and leaves out no details...NONE! But as Elle mentioned, he's experienced.

The bathroom stall incident is mild btw.

Ent, I don't know if you're aware, but he wrote a book not long ago about he's wild life...heroin addiction, orgies etc. called 'Booky Wooky' (love that title, so him). Extracts can be found here

Elle - I don't get Russell's appeal but a friend of mine is crazy about him. She usually goes for the clean cut, reliable sort of guy too. He must have hidden powers.

I like him best when he's just talking nonsense with Noel Fielding. They were such a great team on Big Fat Quiz of the Year!
