In the whatever happened to them category, Ruben Studdard, the season 2 winner of American Idol is getting married on Saturday. I couldn't be happier unless Clay Aiken was one of the bridesmaids. Speaking of attendants, what is too many? Ruben has said that he is going to have 20 groomsmen. 20? That is a hell of a lot of gifts to buy for the wedding party, but I guess they make up for it on the back end in wedding gifts.
When you starting having more than 4 or 5, I think it starts to become almost a show of its own. When you have 20, the line will head all the way to the back of the church. Plus, if you have 20 groomsmen don't you need 20 bridesmaids as well? Although I'm sure Clay would be willing to do some quick changes and be more than one bridesmaid, lets face it, that is a whole bunch of people. On a positive note, there probably won't be any ugly fabrics left in the entire state of Alabama once 20 bridesmaids dresses are made.
When you have 40 people in your wedding party plus their significant others your rehearsal dinner must be pushing close to a 100 people. Hello Pizza Hut.
The most I have personally seen is about 10 for each. I remember it took forever for them to all walk down the aisle and there wasn't enough room for all of them in the front so half had to sit in the front row of the church. Apparently there had been some knock out drag down fight the evening before when they rehearsed because no one could decide who would get to stand and who would get to sit and made the bride and groom choose. Half the people got their feelings hurt and this was just ten for each side. 20 must be outrageous. Congratulations Ruben.

IMO, the bride and groom get lost in the crowd with that many attendants.
How many did Liza and David have? Like 20 each or something. What a circus.
Well, that's just absurd. I'm not sure I even KNOW 20 people total (not including family). With a smaller amount of friends its easier to keep track of them. Quality Ruben, not quantity.
4 tops including the MOH.
anyhting more than that is for show.
20? shameless.
4/5 maximum.
I just hope they pay for the bridesmaid dresses.
Thats is sooo for show. I agree 4-5 tops. NO ONE CARES to sit there and watch 20 bridesmaids got down the isle. Can you say tacky... ok i'll say it for you.
This just goes to prove that the wedding INDUSTRY is an INDUSTRY and they goad people into spending more and more money, to outdo everyone else. I think it's hysterical.
I always say you'd make a TON of cash being some kind of wedding service provider, except you have to deal with asshole diva brides and their families. Not worth it.
I don't know how many people will be at the rehearsal dinner but I do know they are having 300 guests for the wedding. And if it's the church I think it is (they mentioned the name of it in the article, I think I may have driven past it before), it's a pretty big church so there will be room for the 20. If not though they could always have them line up on the sides in four rows to save room.
It's showy, but for some people a big wedding like that is their dream. Definitely not for me but I do like seeing other people's big weddings.
And who knows, maybe the bride is the one who wanted this huge spectacle and not Ruben. Especially if they're doing the traditional 'father of the bride pays for the wedding' thing, Ruben may have just said, "Okay, whatever you want. Your money."
Shallow comment, she is very pretty.
I was a bridesmaid in a wedding with 12 bridesmaids/groomsmen (including the matron of honor).
We used every. last. note. of "Canon in D" during that walk down the aisle.
Don't ask about the flower girls. Or their fairy-wings.....
