Yes, frankly, I don't understand the logic. Unless he was afraid that saying he was gay would garner sympathy from R and that it would be was less likely that she woul sue him for his $$ upon a divorce?
And why is this coming up right now? Their relationship was such a spit in the bucket and quite some time ago at that. Unless the gay rumor finally got to him and he's now trying to convince his audience that he's actually straight.
This seems like a PR plant to me...
