What Else Is She Going To Say?

When newlyweds Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were cornered yesterday on their way to lunch by paps, Portia was asked what she thought of married life.

Spoken like a true newlywed she said, "amazing." Well, unless you are Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor, or met a stripper named Fiona at the Crazy Horse in Vegas who said she would treat you really well until she found out you were broke, almost every newlywed is going to say that. You just got married two days ago. Of course you are going to say that. Hell, you are in the middle of opening presents or on your honeymoon so of course you love it. The crap doesn't start until you both have to go back to work, realize you never see each other and that your office spouse has better breath and makes better coffee.

Plus, what idiot is going to be standing in front of their spouse, and say, "Awful. Crappy. I wish I had never married. I thought the sex would be better. I thought there would be sex. I had no idea that men had that problem. For some reason I thought it would be bigger. Are you not supposed to be able to feel it?" OK, well there are some idiots who would do that but not Portia. So, of course it is amazing. Plus, People just came out with the pretty pictures so it would be a tad uncouth to take their dough while at the same time getting into an argument with your new spouse for the world to see.

I just love Ellen and I think they look fantastic and happy and in love... just the way you are supposed to look on your wedding day before the reality that you are stuck with this person for the rest of your life sets in. HEE!

Like I always say "Let gays get married ... why shouldn't they suffer like the rest of us??"

Ent, I love ya, but don't you think you're being a little harsh? Yeah, I know you like to treat people equally, but this is a little unnecessary.

Kate,what's harsh about that post?

am i blind?

Damn! And I thought I was cynical! But then again, I have managed to successfully avoid having the "m" label attached to me, unlike some here *wink wink*

Seriously, though. They do look incredibly happy (as they usually do). Good for them!

What, does Ent expect them to be fighting already or something? I don't get it unless I'm missing something.

which I do regularly...

And poor Christina Applegate. Man. Bummer. I hope she's all right.

Which Ex was Fiona? I'm guessing lucky #3.

I think Ent was snarking on the stupid question, and on marriage in general, not the gals. :)

Selena, Christina had a double mastectomy and is "100% cancer-free." Phew!

they've been living together for so long they've already seen each others flaws so they've been out of honeymoon phase for years.

i'm more interested in the side bar of the cover where it says *Christina Applegate Breasts Removed to Stop Cancer*. huh? did she have a double mastectomy? i thought they caught her cancer in a very early stage? this seems extreme and radical.

Yes, she did have a double masectomy, as her mother did. She didn't want to go through testing every four months and the nerve wracking followups, so she had them removed.

I didn't particularly appreciate Ellen's joke about Portia cooking and cleaning for her now, but eh, congrats to them both.

bad fish thnx for the info.

Hope Ellen was smart enough to have a pre-nup.

Love these two, but doesn't Portia look especially thin? The dress is gorgeous, but she needs an extra piece of wedding cake.

They have been together 4 years...how much difference can 2 days make?

Regarding Christina Applegate-- I have met quite a few people who have chosen to do that, especially when the rate of returm may be extremely high. In her case, it was hereditary, so the alternative is to risk a reoccurence. Radiation can only be done once, so I guess she felt better safe than sorry. And with all the impants out there, this isn't much different.

Still will take her eight months of surgery to get her tits back! That would be hard to go through, I really feel for her. I don't know what I'd do if I actually had no breasts. I don't think I'd necessarily get so upset that I'd off myself, but I would probably be blue about it, yeah, even if they were coming back new and improved.

I'm really glad that they got married, and I wish them every happiness in the world. Portia is gorgeous (Ellen not so much lol), and they look really happy. It's about damn time that this happened, and I hope that gay marriage is legalized in all the other states now. It's ridiculous that it's taken this long. Best of luck to them both!

bad fish-

What's wrong with that joke? It's just a joke. I don't know you and I'm not trying to be bitchy, but why are some people so damn hypersensitive over stupid shit? Doesn't it take an awful lot of energy to get offended over tiny, insignificant things like a freaking JOKE? Seriously, I'm not trying to be nasty, I just truly don't understand. Can you explain WHAT was so wrong with it, at least? Maybe I'm missing something here....

I just said I didn't appreciate it. I didn't say I was about to kill myself over it.

I don't find sexist jokes funny any more than she sees homophobic ones as funny, lighthearted or not.

EL, you definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. You've been ranting all day and now you've got US cranky --just read the Kanye comments!!

Ent -- will you still come to my wedding even though your outlook on marriage isn't exactly rosy? My fiance and I have lived together for over a year, so I don't really have any false expectations. I think we're already passed "amazing". ;o)

ok, past...I'm tired, what can I say.

I'd think that every newlywed says "amazing", or something on those lines, because they are in love and feel for that person enough to have made the big leap. i'm not married and not in any rush... and when i do marry u can bet ur ass my response will be something similar (for lack of a better response)... and i agree with adrian and molly that after 4 years together what difference does a ceremony and a piece of paper make to them? If portia didn't feel thrilled to be married to el i doubt she'd have taken the vows....

Poor Christina... but i gotta say- good for her for being a woman who's so sexy she doesn't even need boobs!! I bet she'll still get roles as consistently as she has been for the past 15 years...
