Have you ever waited in line at a bookstore? You know how they have designed a way to make you feel like a rat in a cage by winding you back and forth like you are in line at an amusement park? Well, last night at Barnes & Noble at The Grove there was quite the line wrapped around and around. People were waiting patiently in line to either check out or to get their parking validated. There was only one person working the front and so the line was taking unusually long to move.
As the "everyday people" were all waiting patiently, up comes this former A list television actor and show host who considers himself a funny man, but comes across as a skeevy perv. At one point in time it seemed as every show on the network had this guy on it. Our actor/comic/tool looked at the line and basically said forget this. He then went around the line to the front and if that wasn't bad enough, interrupted the person being checked out so that our actor/comic/tool could get his parking ticket validated. Way to win friends. Oh, and people did say things to him, but he totally ignored them. Oh, he was there with the current host of the show he used to host who was wandering around the store with some woman.
Drew Carey
ReplyDeleteBob Saget
ReplyDeleteHas to be Drew. Agreed.
ReplyDeleteDrew Carey/Bob Barker.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Bob Sagat and Tom Bergeron.
ReplyDeleteSaget.
ReplyDeleteWhoever it was should have waited in a long line just to get parking validated?
ReplyDeleteBut who is the current host of the show Drew used to host? I don't think it's Drew....
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Saget
ReplyDeleteTotally Bob Saget. The current host that was wandering around the store is Tom Bergeron.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Saget.
ReplyDeleteCan't be Drew, because Drew IS the current host his show.
not drew. he's actually a good guy.
ReplyDeletedef not drew carey. the guy has THE best rep...majorly gracious and known for his kindnesses and generosity.
ReplyDeletei'm going w/ jimmy fallon.
I could buy Bob Sagat. But honestly, I kind of agree with Allison, I don't think it's that outrageous for him to just pop up to the front to ask for a stamp on his parking ticket.
ReplyDeleteGarry Shandling, if you can count his host duties of the Emmy and Grammy Awards.
ReplyDeleteshit, i've had 'everyday people' do this to me at the post office but it was worse---they had packages to mail.
ReplyDeletethis isn't THAT bad. it probably took a whole second to stamp his ticket and then he was outta there.
Saget, he was in the audience at DWTS last night to promote his new show. Drew Carey doesn't fit because he is the host of the PIR and I can't see Barker wandering around with a girl.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Bob Saget show last years and it was pretty fucking awesome. Yes, he is a perv, but...he's BOB SAGET.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Bob Saget guesses.
ReplyDeletedon't know if I'd consider Saget A list ?
ReplyDeleteMatthew Perry
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to go against Enty's usually sound judgement on douchebags, but if the dude was just getting his parking validated and not buying anything, it was socially acceptable for him to POLITELY bypass the line to ask for this.
ReplyDelete" People were waiting patiently in line to either check out or to get their parking validated."
ReplyDeleteif everyone else can wait, so can douchebag pervert Saget.
Always heard is things about Drew. And he is currently hosting a show. Bob Saget does come across as a total perv. And he has a new show coming out.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with the majority and saying Saget. He was the first person who popped in my head when reading Enty's description.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's Bob Saget...and, Enty, I totally agree. He believes he is funny, but actually comes across as a major PERV.
ReplyDeleteBob Saget is a good guess, but the "show on every network" at the same time clue is bothering me. I know he had Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos, but those were both on ABC. What were his other shows?
ReplyDeleteYou're allowed to get your parking validated without buying anything at the Grove? Most places I've been there's some sort of minimum purchase requirement.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's just me!, not every network. Read it again. It says, "At one point in time it seemed as every show on the network had this guy on it." Every show, not every network.
ReplyDeleteI don't want it to be, but Bob Saget was who I thought of right away. I like that guy for some odd reason...
ReplyDeleteWhy bother to get the parking validated at all? Surely a few dollars means nothing to this guy. Just another example of money grubbing by the rich and famous.
ReplyDeleteI'm on board with the Bob Saget guess. too bad. I'd like to think he's not a jerk.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find most funny is that such a wealthy guy felt the need to validate his ticket at all.
ReplyDeleteWhen was Bob Saget ever A-list? His big show, "Full House" was a family favorite, sure, on FRIDAY NIGHTS! Apart from "Full House" and "America's Funniest Home Videoes", can't think of anything else he was doing in that era. He's had a failed sitcom and is the voiceover for "How I Met your Mother" now.
ReplyDeleteWell written blind - Bob Saget!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThanks, BinkyM. I did bungle that one.
ReplyDeleteStill don't understand how Full House made Bob Saget A-List. Seems like he's only A-List by nostalgic default. I always thought John Stamos was the more recognizable face from that show. But since there are no other guesses...
Saget. I can't believe he wanted to validate his parking, LOL! What a cheap ass! And I understand that he wanted to "just" validate his parking, but still so were some other people on line. hey, it sucks to wait on a long line. i'd like to do what he did, but then that would mean i'm too good to wait like everyone else. and obviously Saget thinks he is better than everyone on line because he's famous. you know, like everyone else in the business that's famous...
ReplyDeleteBut Bob Saget is funny! I'm going with Drew Carey.
ReplyDeleteIm gonna have a look around for pics of celebs at the grove and get back to yall
ReplyDeleteI thought of one of the various hosts of Talk Soup, but Bob Saget fits from what I've heard.
ReplyDeleteHow much is parking at the Grove? Probably more than the local mall.
ReplyDeleteTotally Saget.
The only show drew Carey used to host is Whose Line Is it Anyways, and as far as I kow it's not on the air with a new host. In the Blind, Drew Carey is the OLD host, NOT THE NEW HOST.
ReplyDeleteIt's totally Saget.
ReplyDeleteIn his standup, he talks ad nauseam about schtupping the Olsen twins, his (teenage) daughters' friends, etc.
(And yeah, Mooshki, it's funny.)
Kristen S., Drew Carey currently hosts The Price is Right. He seems not to fit the blind, though, as by all accounts, he's a really nice man (if you count "nice" as someone who loves to hang out with hookers, which I find a bit yucky, but to each his own).
ReplyDeleteTo those who question Bob Saget's A-list-iness: you may forget it now in retrospect, but "Full House" was HUGE back then as part of the "TGIF" lineup, and Bob was the star. It was on for seven or eight years, and was (and probably still is) in syndication, making him enormously wealthy. But that's nothing compared to "America's Funniest Home Videos"; that was a monster smash for many, many years (hell, it's STILL ON THE AIR after all this time), and he was the host for the first, oh, hell, two decades? (Hyperbole, of course, but it SEEMED like forever.)
Sure, he's a perv (and he tells a terrfic version of the dirtiest joke ever told in The Aristocrats) (you might be able to find it on YouTube if you're not squeamish), but he's one hell of a savvy Hollywood businessman. Give the man mad props for that.
How about Richard Karn who played Al on Home Improvement? He also hosted Family Feud which is now hosted by the guy who played J. Peterman on Seinfeld.
ReplyDeleteI think Ent made it obvious it's Saget with the statement he was there with the current host of the show.
ReplyDeleteI always thought Drew Carey was the answer to the BI about the guy who frequented glory holes in truck stops. Doesn't mean he isn't a nice guy, right?
aw Mooshki, you're right Bob Saget is totally funny, and this BI is totally him... sorry! :)
ReplyDeleteI really don't think asking someone to validate your parking pass is that big of a deal. It takes two seconds.
ReplyDeletethis is absolutely, 100% bob saget, and i can tell you why. bob pulled this same crap at disneyland when he was waiting in line for the indiana jones ride. it had only been open a couple months, and he was an absolute ass trying to get him and his daughters in the front of the astronomical line. how do i know this? i was standing RIGHT THERE, and watched as bob got repeatedly denied by the workers before stalking off in a huff.
ReplyDeleteBinkyM is right, Bob Saget was A-list back in the day. This was back when "family oriented programming" was still en vogue, and between Full House and AFV, Bob had that market on LOCK. He was on both shows for such a long time he was as much a household staple as salt or milk. I'm not fond of either now (both way too corny, saccharine, 'simple' humor) but back then I don't think I knew anyone who didn't watch one or the other. If nothing else everyone watched AFV, b/c apparently nothing is funnier than watching people inadvertantly make fools of themselves.
ReplyDeleteMy main issue with this is not that he just wanted to skip the line for something really simple and quick, but that he was really rude about it. He could have at least let the one cashier finish with the customer being checked out before asking. Few jobs suck harder than being the only cashier in a store. Seems that is the time when every person within a twenty mile radius decides they need to check out.
Bob Saget and Tom Bergeron for the win!
ReplyDeleteNO NO NO!!
ReplyDeleteIT'S AL FROM "HOME IMPROVEMENT" AND THEN "FAMILY FEUD" !!
"TOOL" IS THE CLUE!
Boy, I don't know, Dana - does Richard Karn really
ReplyDelete"come across as a skeevy perv"?
I vote Saget, hands down. Skeevy perv, most definitely. (Even though he's HY-sterical.)
I also thought "tool" was a clue, but what did Al host with someone else? Also, is Al an A-lister?? Is "oh" a clue? He says that twice in a row.
ReplyDeleteLOL, LauraM, thanks for breaking it to me gently! :)
ReplyDeleteApart from butting in line, getting your parking validated without buying anything is kind of douchey too.
Throwing out another name here, even though I don't want it to be him and it doesn't totally fit...
ReplyDeleteBut the first name I thought of was Marc Summers after reading the "it seemed as every show on the network had this guy on it." He was on sooo many Nichelodeon shows back in the day!
He briefly hosted "Ultimate Recipe Showdown" on Food Network, which Guy Fieri now hosts... so could that be the show/current host?
Don't know if Marc Summers is exactly A-list though...
Just wanted to throw another name out there :)
this is NOT Drew Carey. He is incredibly nice and gracious to everyone and does a lot for his fans. Servers love it when he eats at their restuarants, his generosity and politeness is legendary.
ReplyDeleteMy roomie told me Saget came to her sisters HS to lecture, and apparently left with a couple of them. Nice.
ReplyDeletelinnea, could he be the answer to the BI about climbing into the jacuzzi with his daughter's friends and hitting on them?
ReplyDeletehh I don't care if bob saget is built like ron jeremy- he is BOB SAGET!!
ReplyDeletelol!
Bob Saget is pervy in a GOOD way! Could this be Tom Arnold?
ReplyDeleteIf your TV show is consistently in the top 20 every week I thinks that makes you A-List(Full House, yup,AFV,yup).
ReplyDeleteshakey - perhaps. I cant remember that blind...
