Whatever Happened To Emily Longstreth?

I got an e-mail from poperah today wondering if I had any information on Emily Longstreth. I honestly have no idea and it appears neither does anyone on the internet despite lots and lots of searching. There are so many Google entries for her titled whatever happened to, that it is a mystery that needs to be solved. Emily played the girlfriend of Kevin Bacon's character in The Big Picture. She also starred alongside a very young Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis in the made for tv movie, Too Young To Die. She even was in Pretty In Pink and was in Private Resort with Johnny Depp. She is like her very own version of six degrees of separation game.

The one rumor the reader had found about Emily and her whereabouts was that Emily had turned to stripping and escorting and had died two years ago.

This was an actress who appeared to have it all going for her and then just fell off the earth in 1994. So, I leave to all of you sleuthing readers to skip working the rest of the day and see if you can find out what happened to her.

Did a search and the only thing I found was this:

I did a search at USSearch.com for "Emily Longstreth" and found two listings for "Emily Lene Longstreth" in Woodland Hills, CA and Los
Angeles, CA. [I want to state for the record that I'm not violating Ms. Lonstreth's privacy here--you can get the same information for
anyone as long as they have their address in some sort of public record.] The one bit of extra info is that her age is 35. If that's correct, she was 18 when she starred in "Private Resort" and 27 in "Confessions of a Hitman." Maybe she is perceived as too old now to keep playing the "beautiful blonde" role. Or at least the "young
    beautiful blonde."

This was the only thing different from the other sites.

  2. There is a 42 year old Emily L. Longstreth living in the LA area. She just seems to be out of the business.

  3. From some YouTube comments:

When I moved to NYC, my living arrangements fell through and I ended up in a "drop-in center" for homeless women in Chelsea. I met a woman calling herself Emily Longstreth while I was there. Claiming to have been a working actress, she was in her early to mid-thirties, smoked constantly, and wore black all the time. The Emily I knew in 2003 bore a strong resemblance to the woman in the tape so I think that's her. I got an apartment in '04 so I don't know if Emily is still at the shelter or not.

    ---

It was her,her whole family is looking for her now and the last thing they ever hear from her was that she was in new york city.I realy hope she is doing well now in 2009.

  4. Didn't see any dead females named Longstreth born in the 1970's on the SSI site. That means she is alive, unless she just died in the last couple months.

  5. Oooh.

A friend of mine who was on soaps in the '80's was looking for Robin Mattson for a Russian TV documentary about their respective no-longer-broadcast soap. We never located her. Don't know if any of us looked on USSearch, though.

  6. The only thing Ancestry.com has is her address in 1993 (Venice, CA)

  7. This is exciting. Noone living in LA that knows if any of those women is her?

Maybe she doesn't want to be found.
It takes a bit of work to remain anonymous these days. Especially if you were a working actress.

  9. She dyed her hair brown, added some lowlites and changed her name to Jessica Biel

  13. I found these comments on imdb but no real "proof." This one was posted in 2007
"I am a very good friend of Emily's and she has been contacting me form New York recently. She leaves numbers, however, they don't always seem to be right. Anyway, her life changed a bit, and she does want to keep acting but I think things are harder these days for everyone."
    This was from 2008
"It's been over 10 years since she acted in a movie, she's done with it.
She moved east and decided to go into other things, tried the stage didn't pan out at all. Depressed, broke and alone turned to stipping and ended up hooking by the time it was all over. There's no link to post, no article about her to prove this just remember seeing her name in the NYTimes obits one day about 2 years ago, name rang a bell cause I'd seen The Big Picture only days before. Sad ending not much info on her in the obit but someone who knew her past had written it for it mentioned acting.
I decided to search for tombstone since seeing The Big Picture again on HDnet something just made me wanna really see if that was indeed her in the paper. Her name should'nt be too hard to track assuming it was her real name and used on the stone. Records for her name have turned up nothing as of yet."

  14. Hey, Snakeoiler...

Robin Mattson... Heather Webber from General Hospital? and Janet from All My Children?

She had a cooking show, too, didn't she? Well before Food Network...

    I really liked her....

  15. Mooshki, did she have relatives named Eric (maybe a brother) and/or Elizabeth (maybe mother)?

I found some public records for an Emily Longstreth who is connected to those two Longstreth names

    1. Emily has a brother named Erik her mother I can't remember she her mom and brother lived in Idyllwild CA.from 1976 to early 1977 she was in the same elementary class as I she was born in 1967 but I can't remember the month her birthday was in her mom was very pretty and her quite handsome his age year was 1965 birth wise, in school Emily was going to be an actress and that was that nothing was going to stop her and she also said that when she made enough money that she was going to disappear like a legend I'm not sure but her mom the same thing and she looked up to her mom very much.

  17. Mooshki,

Was this the addy of NY shelter?

    102 W 29TH ST
    NEW YORK, NY 10001-5314
    NEW YORK COUNTY

that's where the EL I found was listed at in Nov. 2003.

after that, this EL in particular then lived at the luxury apts Chelsea Place in 2006, but also is listed at various times in LA area at shelters or social service agencies.

In 1987, this EL is listed in North Hollywood and Venice. (SoSec was issued in CA in 1980). Looks like a bunch of debts in the late 1990s (not a violation of privacy rights, this is all public record).

Sounds like it might be her.

If it is, she's in Woodland Hills area (it looks like a mailbox address, not real location).

This Emily would have been born in December 1967, making her 41.

    ReplyDelete
  18. hmm google maps is showing just a blank wall for that address (maybe apartments above though?), but it is near chelsea. couldn't find anything online about a shelter in chelsea itself other than one for teens 16-21, which I'm assuming EL would have been too old to check herself into at that time.

  28. I am Emily Longstreth’s mother. I personally know Amy Madden who posted above. I went over the word limit to post here, so I have posted continuations. Amy Madden worked briefly as a secretary for one of my son’s businesses. Amy was fired for theft. Amy was never married to my son. Amy Madden is known to be a thief, a pathological liar, pathologically jealous, a stalker who has been imprisoned twice for violence in Florida where she was raised and still lives, though she comes to Las Vegas on occasion, finding excuses to see/annoy my son. One of her imprisonments was for 21 days for doing harm with a knife to her ex-boyfriend in Florida before she was 20 years old.

Amy Madden has been on bi-polar meds since she was 14, mentions being on Zoloft and Zanax now, and yet brags about "doing 20 beers." She is very over-weight. She is a deeply disturbed individual who gets her jollies being a sex addict—posting naked pictures of herself all over. Amy is a back-stabber who brags about it, and is a malicious gossip with broad sadistic tendencies. She tells people that had a severe case of VD from her early teens promiscuity that she said made her sterile. (She likes talking ugly strange stuff). She’s been an out of control personality since age twelve according to her mother, grandmother, and brother who live in Orlando, Florida.

Amy Madden has been in my home on several occasions because she briefly worked for my son until her craziness began to overtly reveal itself. When you first meet her, she seems to be a sweet young lady, an opinion that changes 180 degrees within days of knowing her. She became obsessed with my son and has stalked him, and he had to bring in the authorities to get her to stop She has stolen my personal journals, photographs, digital camera, some jewelry and clothes. She has returned some of it, with apologies, which I view as just another way to come around here. She’s truly a dark-spirited person with a compulsion to wreck havoc.

That said, people should know the motive behind what Amy Madden posted above about my daughter, Emily Longstreth. Amy had heard stories about and seen pictures of wonderful talented beautiful Emily who lives privately in Manhattan, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. When Amy “stopped by” last summer, we all thought it would be to simply pick up the bag she’d left behind and leave. My son and I made jokes about tying everything down so Amy couldn’t steal anything while she was here. Amy found out Emily was coming for an extended visit with the family last summer (four months) and evidently timed her stopping by to meet Emily.

Amy Madden is in her early 20’s. Emily is 42 and still quite beautiful and stunning. Emily is slender, wears her hair platinum, stylishly short. She was wearing a champagne silk pullover and shorts, barefoot, because it was 120 degrees in Vegas in July. Amy Madden is about 5' 1" weighs 170, and had herself poured into tight jeans like a fat sausage with her gut hanging over. She was quite taken aback by meeting my very stunning daughter.

When Amy Madden came into my home I saw the look on her face when she first saw Emily. She was startled by how gracious, beautiful, and regal Emily is. Amy is short and fat, sort of “piggy” looking. One of the first things Amy said to Emily was “why don’t you put some clothes on?” because Emily’s beautiful slender long legs triggered her pathological jealousy. Emily told her this is her home, she’ll dress as she chooses, and she asked Amy just who did she think she was telling her how to dress in her own home. Emily knew immediately this Amy character was a nasty sort, and was having none of it in her own home.

Amy went on in her obsessive manner, picking up and holding up Emily’s khaki mini-skirt off a pile of laundry that had been recently done, and she asked Emily, “What size is this? Size 5?” Anyway, Amy Madden did what she always does-- create very ugly energy in a room that’s rooted in her pathological jealousy.

    (continued)

    ReplyDelete
  29. (continuing: re to Amy Madden malicious deception):

Amy Madden was asked to leave, and therefore this nasty post above full of lies to exercise her sadistic penchant for enjoying her backstabbing attempts at character assassination because Emily is just too intelligent, too gorgeous, too talented, too much of a reminder of what a nasty little creep Amy Madden is. She knows we are a very private family. Therefore this post of hers was done in the spirit of maliciousness—true to the Amy Madden spirit of malevolence.

Emily is a very talented person. She has been expressing her creativity as a fine artist for years. She spent time with me when I lived in Hawaii for ten years, doing art and writing music. She brought her boyfriend, Stephen, who was a photographer. We bicycled all over the Big Island and enjoyed the immense beauty of nature there, swimming with the green turtles of Black Sands Beach, attending Buddhist retreats above South Point, and experiencing many magnificent wonders of nature there. We had some very creative and fun times. She did a suite of vibrantly colorful and bold paintings full of great delightful energy. She has just written a screenplay that she hopes to direct. She is funny, sweet, loving, and intelligent, and very graciously beautiful. She is a truly wonderful person. Amy Madden has none of those qualities, and she certainly isn’t qualified to open her mouth and even mention my daughter’s name. She simply flipped out when she met Emily, whose lovely presence overwhelmed her with jealousy. If Amy Madden had more depth of character she would have been more interested in engaging Emily's high intellect and artistic perspectives. Instead, she could merely wallow in the superficial levels of envy of physical attractiveness, where Amy felt like a short fat white trash creep standing in the room with a vibrantly lovely fully-developed human being.

It appalls me that when a person wishes to step out of the public’s view to pursue a private life, the gossips crawl out and post outrageous slanderous bullshit. Leave Emily alone and don’t allow the Amy Madden’s of the world find audience for their vile hateful pathologies.

BTW, Mr. Lawyer whose blog this is, how dare you post that “you heard” my daughter was a prostitute. How about this thing I “heard” about you being a buttplug of Satan. Oh, my mistake, I heard wrong. Maybe it's THIS gossip I heard that's the real truth: I heard that you’re "just another one of those slimy Hollywood gossip types who don’t have a life."

  30. Emily is currently living in the Olivieri Shelter in Chelsea
    257 West 30th Street
    New York, NY

She has apparently suffered some type of mental breakdown as she denies that she is one and the same (she looks exactly like the picture on this post except that she now has cut her hair). She mostly speaks in circles and smokes constantly. If you know of her family or friends that can help her, please let them know where she can be found. I live there too and I can't believe that such a talented person has come to such a sad end.

  33. I met Emily in 1993 in Santa Monica, Ca and at the time she seemed like a really sweet person but after being around her for awhile she seemed a little off. I'm pretty sure whoever said she was bipolar is correct. I felt like I had met 2 different people. One day I came home and she was sitting on the curb next to my house and asked if she could come in and go to sleep and about 3 hours later she acted like she didn't even know me. I hope she is ok wherever she is.

  34. Hi Wangmo, I also have searched for Emily over the years just to see how she was doing.I have read many posts on blogs and the most disturbing one tells of her death. My heart sank.I truly hope you are who you say you are and that Emily is indeed doing as well as you say in your post.I met you and Emily in 1984.Emily and I were introduced to each other by her ex boyfriend Eric in West L.A. She was 17 and she was staying in a crazy warehouse in Los Angeles with some guy that had worked on models used in Star Trek films while she worked on her acting career. I'm not sure if you remember me but you were truly gracious in allowing me to date your daughter and Emily was one of the most beautiful, vivacious, creative, intelligent, and motivated girlfriends I've ever had. My name is Mark and I lived in the San Fernando valley. All my best wishes.

  35. I went to community college with her in 91 or 92 not 100 percent sure.
She was very sweet and intelligent.
This was right about when THE BIG PICTURE came out and she didn't seem to want to talk about it much. She seemed down to earth and was nice enough to come to my birthday party.
She was very unlike the typical Hollywood actresses. I would really like to know the real story here. I've always wondered what happened to her.

  36. im sorry wangmo but pretty much everything i read, its about her being homeless and suffering some illness..
did jhonny depp or pitt or bacon , ever help her?
anyway, the other thing thats pushing to the positive side is that she was a working actress if she had a disease she could ve had a lot of ppl helping her, if she didnt run off.. or how could anyone let that georgoues person live in a shelter? with so many great actors around her at the beginning of her career..
i mean come on, theres gotta be a explanation,
if shes living in a shelter, she must ve ran off and wanting no help at all..
if she was ill there no way no one helped her, i mean come on, she had career friends..

To those who are related to Emily and are reading, I wish you all the best.

To those who are fans, stop wasting your time trying to find information on this poor woman and pursue what you love.

  43. This message is for Emily. There is never anything anyone can say to somebody when they lose a loved one that makes it any easier. But, I am sorry for your loss of Eric. It is impossible to imagine what it will be like to lose someone in your family until it does happen. I lost my Mom 3 months ago and it has not gotten any easier. You met her once when you and Roberta Zaso (Eric's sister) came to see me at her house in Granada Hills. Unfortunately, Roberta also passed away last year. I just want to say it is alright to grieve, to feel guilt, to wish and hope for different circumstances but never forget that I think the person you are mourning would be happiest if you were happier. That's all. I hope you are well, Marc.

  48. 10 years on and yet the truth hasn't came out. After reading some posts here and around what I have is:

    - Her brother Eric has died in 2012 (credible);
    - Could be that she had some mental illness, probably even when very young.
    - Her mother also seems to be a bit nutty, and there's a story of her getting the police to arrest her boyfriend as she was 17 at the time. The posts in this forum do not bring in any details to make it more credible, and given she would be 70+, does not seem legit.
    - Someone who claimed to be a real state agent mentioned she was looking for an apartment in early 2014.
    - A cousin has posted in a now gone forum that she has died in 2015. Other people mentioned she was still homeless by then.

The "cousin" post mentions her brother Eric "had died the year before", which would be 2014, so things are just about right.

It really seems no one will ever know what happened to her, though I tend to believe she could really be dead. Very sad indeed.
