Patrick Swayze Is Not Dead

Do you know how much it must suck to be probably dying of terminal cancer and to have news outlets and tabloids say you are dead. It happened to Patrick Swayze this morning. A Jacksonville Florida radio station announced that Swayze had died and then it spread like wildfire from there. So, Swayze's spokesperson had to deny that Patrick was dead. So, you are Patrick Swayze and you are probably not feeling well this morning and it isn't because you couldn't find the remote control and were forced to watch Roadhouse on a 24 hour loop. Your publicist calls and says some radio station says you are dead. I hate the death watch game. I have said it before. I just don't like all the tabloids that say someone is days from death or so and so says their final goodbyes. All they are doing is predicting the death of someone and they hope it happens that week they make those headlines so it makes them look like geniuses. Just let someone enjoy their life, and celebrate them after they are gone. Don't wait like vultures just so you can say you were first. Whoo hoo! We were first to report someone died.

  1. That would be horrible. I'm sure he has other things on his mind than worrying about what the media is saying, but still. He seems to be doing pretty good, considering how high the mortality rate is for this particular type of cancer. Imagine trying to stay positive and focused when everyone's reporting that you're "saying goodbye", in your "final days", and even that you're already dead. Ugh. The fact that he has made it this long is almost a miracle. let's hope he continues to do well.

  2. That's awful. Who doesn't verify sources before running with a story? They outta be hung by their toenails (or balls) for that one. What a shame.

  4. Same thing is happening with poor Farrah Fawcett right now... Imagine being family, stepping out to do some grocery shopping and hearing that on the radio? Horrible.

  5. This man does not have cancer. He has AIDS. Don't ask me how I know. Regardless, he should be left alone and most news/radio/television outlets should re-learn the old journalism trick of having three seperate confirmations of a news story before going forward.

  6. It's like what OK magazine did, publishing a memorial magazine for Jade Goody before she had died. The headline said: Jade Goody, and listed 2009 as her year of death.

    WRONG.

  7. Reminds me of when Perez Hilton INSISTED that Fidel Castro was dead. And Castro lives on.

  8. Castro may even outlive Perez Hilton's career....

  9. I feel bad for Patrick's family. Can you imagine being in the car and hearing that crap on the radio?
Or being at the check-out in the super market because you need Cheerios and seeing " Pat only has days to live?".

It must make trying to be positive for him harder too. I hate vultures.

  10. AnonMom: Didn't Jade Goody die 3/22/09??

Nutty: Was he confusing Fidel with Hussein??

    littleoleme: I call bullshit.

  11. Littleoleme... Really? He has AIDS?

  12. Really don't believe he has AIDS. These days HIV is controlled pretty well through drugs and such, and this guy has declined right on par with pancreatic cancer. Just another malicious rumour.

The tabloids are right out of control these days. Just heard about how two from the Enquirer checked Brooke Shields' mother out of the care facility where she currently resides just to get dirt on her daughter. It's like they've all lost their minds.

  13. Kat,
I read that too and wonder how they haven't been arrested for kidnapping. It's not like she has the capacity to sign herself out.
Someone needs to go to jail for that one.

  14. Hey, it's a Twitter world now apparently (I loathe Twitter myself), he should get a Twitter account and every hour tweet "I'm still alive"...

  15. People believe what they want to believe. The average person really has no idea how many marriages are set up ot business deals or help to cover up one or both spouses homosexuality.

  16. Someone posted here about a week ago that Swayze had died. Wonder if they were a tabloid plant?

Swayze does not have AIDS. He's been pretty upfront about his past hard-partying and how it probably contributed to his illness. I just don't believe he'd lie about it. I mean, how long has Magic Johnson been hiv+?

I'm hoping this b.s. just gives him the will to outlive us all. Here's to Patrick Swayze in 2025.

  17. I don't believe he has AIDS either.

  18. Steve Jobs has the same disease and is getting as thin as Swayze, too. But whether Swayze had AIDs or cancer is a moot point.

And if his marriage is a cover, well, they seem to get along quite well -- what -- 25-30 years?

  19. i think it's pretty funny to state that he has AIDS and not cancer, and then in the next breath say he should be left alone. OH, and then go on to very strongly imply he's gay. WOW, now that's sure leaving him alone!!

i don't believe he's gay, i don't believe he has AIDS and i don't believe he's only married to hide being gay. what i DO believe is he's dying and he has loved ones who will mourn him---and we don't even fucking know the man. leave him alone.

  20. @bflogirl -- she did, but the magazine was published a month or two before she passed. In my opinion, that's wrong.

  21. Ah... thanks Anon. I was beginning to think I was in the wrong year. Seriously, that went through my mind!!!

    Nancer: Well said!

  22. You shut up about "Road House"!

    "ROAD HOUSE" IS A SAINT!

  23. After I got over the shock of hearing about my premature demise, I think it would be damned interesting to hear what everyone would be saying about me...how many people get to hear their own eulogies?

    Keep at it, Patrick.

    And Roadhouse RULES!!!

  24. I hope he gets pissed off and stay alive to spite all the vultures. The damn Enquierer had him dead a year ago.Every couple of weeks they have a new Patrick's sad last days story. Patrick says goodbye to his grieiving family BS. Too bad he can't sue their asses for declaring him dead. That can't be good for his career. They're all a bunch of jackels just waiting for him to stop breathing. They suck.

  25. This could have been a publicity stunt, too, which makes it even worse. My heart and prayers go out to Patrick and his family.
