$2M Wedding Canceled With 2 Hours Notice

Richard Jefferson is a very good NBA player. He is not so good at breaking up though. He managed to come as close as you can to leaving a bride at the altar without actually leaving her standing at the church. Oh, and in the process forfeited most of the $2M he had already spent on the wedding.

According to The NY Post, Jefferson canceled the whole thing so late that guests had already started arriving for the wedding. Jefferson broke up with his girlfriend on Friday and she started calling all her guests immediately. Richard on the other hand didn't get around to telling all of his friends and so many showed up at the hotel in New York where the pair were to be married.

Richard felt bad about inconveniencing his friends and so let them have his AMEX Black Card for the night. I guess he probably should have shown some of that same concern for his now ex. For her part, Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols checked into the hotel anyway and had her room upgraded to a suite.

Nichols kind of expected this to happen and so was not completely stunned. It wasn't like The Wedding Singer or something. "She just wants to keep this as quiet as possible and move on. She's doing just fine," a Nichols family insider said.

I think this was handled horribly, but isn't it better to call it off before the wedding than to get married and get divorced later. If they had got married, that is where the marriage would have been headed.

One of my cousins married some chick who left him within the month of their wedding day - said she knew all along she didn't want to marry him but thought it was too much of a hassle to break up before the wedding. They kept the presents of course.

I have to give the guy credit for not putting anyone's relatives and friends through a fake ceremony etc.

eep. $2M? wow! well, at least they're avoiding what would've been an inevitable divorce...

The rumor about him is that he is "in the closet" no idea if it is true or not but that is what a lot of sites have said for a long time.

What a crummy little butthole. I think that she knew it was coming since she handled it so well. Hopefully she got all that she needed from him and can move on to a more quiet life.

Damn, here I am always hope hope hoping to hear of someone not going through with it in real life--I mean, someone I know--but it just never happens.

My cousin's wife left him after the honeymoon. They had an expensive wedding and went to Hawaii where he told her that he had a five year old daughter and was in deep deep debt.

My sister called off a wedding a month before the date. They already had a 3 month old together. She found out that he had a wife in the Phillipines. She still spent all of her inheritance from our mother on the wedding and didn't even try to get back her deposits.

I hate people. People suck.

According to reports, NBA player Richard Jefferson called off his wedding at the last minute to former Net dancer Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols, but forgot to tell some of his guests who showed up last weekend for the nuptials...

Maybe he cancelled because he realized anyone who thought spending 2mil on a wedding was most likely going to relieve him of his money while married. Just a thought, 2 mil seems very extreme for even an NBA player. I know he lost the 2 mil but he's keeping the rest of his fortune intact. Perhaps he was conflicted about canceling the wedding and that's why he waited until the last minute. Or she was the biggest Brizilla of them all and he got turned off?

There's definitely a juicy story behind this. Her not being surprised says it all.

Who knows, maybe she admitted to having someone on the side, and that led to the cancellation.

A former relative of mine married his baby mama several years back, had a nice, relatively expensive wedding & reception, got nice gifts, and a week after returning from the honeymoon, they split. She'd met a man at her bachelorette party, and when he found out they were calling each other, she admitted it was a sexual relationship. He wanted to go to counseling, she said, no, never mind, I just want out. She really did just want all the gifts. You can bet I didn't get the gift I gave back, as it was cash.

Answer to a blind, yes?

She found out that he had a wife in the Phillipines.

Yeah, that would be a stumbling block to wedded bliss. Holy shit.

humm, sounds like a samatha who? episode. what a douche. why take it down to the wire? and if she wasn't surprised why was she going through with it? who willingly marries someone they don't think is 100% in the game?
