Thanks To Twitter We Know This Story Isn't True

I am still undecided when it comes to Twitter and whether I would have anything to say and whether I would be forced to think of things to say if I had a Twitter account. It isn't that I don't look at Twitter accounts because I do, but I just don't know if it is right for me. Last night I had two friends who were both at the Beyonce concert and both sending Tweets throughout the night. They were exactly the same even though they didn't know each other. It was very surreal. But, one thing Twitter has done is show that a National Enquirer story is full of crap.

Anyway, last week I posted about how Elizabeth Taylor got on her Twitter account and told the world that she was fine and that she had to go to the hospital this week for some pre-scheduled tests. She knew she was going and she told the world.

Well, apparently The Enquirer sees her hospital admittance in an entirely different light than she does. Their headline today says, "Liz Taylor Rushed To ER." Well, she probably didn't dawdle or get a bite to eat before she went to the hospital, but I doubt anyone drove through red lights or anything to get here there. But, still if you go from point A to point B with no stops in between, then I guess it could be considered rushing.

Why was she admitted to the hospital? According to The Enquirer, "the heart's gone out of her" because Michael died. As she indicated last week she said, all of the tabloids were full of crap and that while she was sad, she could handle it. The Enquirer then goes on to say that the family banned her from attending the memorial and that Elizabeth was "crushed, and she's still crying." Uh huh. Elizabeth Taylor can go anywhere she wants to go and if she wanted to go to the memorial I am sure she would have.

  2. This whole MJ thing is really unsettling on so many levels. However, regarding Elizabeth Taylor going anywhere she wanted: I couldn't agree more. MJ's family knows how close they were. The only reason I would see for her not being allowed is that it would somehow, take the spotlight from Joe Jackson.

And if she was banned then THAT would be news.

  3. ET is a fierce old broad, who probably books herself into hospital for whatever whim takes her.

Banned my eye - if she WANTED to go, she would have! And she would have socked Joe *spit* Jackson right in the eye in front of every camera.

    So there.

  4. I can message @levarburton with quotes from Reading Rainbow. That alone makes having a Twitter account totally worth it.

  6. I thought the family said she could be there, but she'd have to sit in the cheap seats? I can't see the Jacksons giving up any opportunity for more flashbulbs going off and ET showing up would have really set off the paps.

  9. Nothing about the car accident, but thought this was funny re: the Michael Jackson memorial:

Levar Burton: Why, today of all days, would Corey Feldman dress up like Michael??? [I thought the same thing, Levar]

  10. Just to play devil's advocate, if the family perceived Liz as an enabler of MJ's pill problem, isn't that a reason they may not have wanted her there?

  11. i'm a little shocked at the indignation on her behalf. she was also a patient of dr. feelgood klein. she's had chronic pain for years and addictions. it isn't at all hard for me to believe one of her and michael's bonds was over drugs. so if they didn't want her there, i don't blame them.
i don't buy into the 'liz is a great broad' school of thinking. sorry.

Why do I find Twitter so utterly ridiculous? Or rather, why do I find Twitter users as utterly ridiculous? Because you're at a concert and you feel the need to text message the entire experience. Why? I find it so vain and narcissistic.

  14. i'm with anita... i suppose twitter has it's place, but it's not for me, and if you're at a movie or a concert, have some respect for the people sitting near you!

and i totally agree-- liz goes where she wants, and doesn't take crap from anybody.
and taking drugs for chronic pain is different than taking them for recreation, or because you caused yourself to need them. chronic pain erases any "buzz" you might get, and the drugs often don't make the pain manageable. the fact that she HAS managed impresses the hell out of me. i doubt she and MJ shared their "love of drugs". i have a neighbor with addiction problems, but i sure as hell don't share anything with him! :)

  15. does anybody else find it slightly disturbing that the award they're holding in the pic, and the sex toy in the ad are awfully similar???

  16. LOL at B.Bunny! I was thinking the same thing, but hadn't gotten to that conclusion at the time I read your note. Re: ET... I think I read that she did not want to share her grief and so that was the reason she did not attend. Don't think the family would have put her out - they let Bab Walters sit in their area. Which would you rather have had?
