Sugar Ray Has New Album - Blames It On The Real Housewives

For all of you who were thrilled when Mark McGrath and his "band" decided to stop making music while he was the host of Extra, you can stop being thrilled now. Apparently all he has left from his career at Extra is a new set of lower veneers and now he is ready to torture us all over again with his music. The reason? Well, the title of the album is Music For Cougars and somehow I don't think it is a children's album kids take to zoos. Nope. Mark says he owes all of his inspiration and the name of the CD to his love for The Real Housewives of Orange County.

"And I love The Real Housewives of Orange County, especially Vicki Gunvalson, the one who goes 'Woo-hoo!'" In fact, says McGrath, "We wrote a song called 'She's Got The (Woo-Hoo!)' after her."

You just don't find song titles like that anymore. I think he is just angling for a spot on the next season of the show. Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe all of you have already lined up and bought tickets and can't wait to see Sugar Ray in concert.

I wonder how many times we'll get to hear Vicki singing "her song" next season?

Funny - they recently performed in Ladera Ranch, which is right next to where RHOC is filmed.

Gee, he's got great taste in women. Vicki (or pig nose)is one of the most repulsive human beings I've seen and I'm glad she's on the West Coast.

Jax, LOLOLOL!!!

And Psych is a fantastic show!!

And Mark McGrath is gonna find out real quick how nobody cares...

Oh my God. That everymorningwheniwakeupthere'sahalohangingfromthecornerofmygirlfriend'sfour-postbed MIGHT be the worst song in existence. I'm so glad this douche decided to provide us with more artistry.

I'm not a fan of his music, but he's actually super nice, especially for a celebrity. I met him while I was dancing (yup, that kind of dancing, lol) in Seattle @ 2000. He was kind (to every dancer and employee) and approachable without being pervy. Trust me when I say that is extremely rare in celebrities in that environment.

Ya, I got stuck watching his band perform at Street Scene in San Diego back in 2000. Literally "stuck", I was there for Unwritten Law and Sprung Monkey, but when their sets were over, it was impossible to make it through the crowd, so we stuck around and watched Sugar Ray.

And you know what? Besides the fact that his songs are annoying, you know the words. And... he was actually very entertaining. He kept the crowd interested and was really funny onstage. I have to give him props.

I'm not saying I would go to his concert again, but the guy knows how to put on a show. Don't hate on him too much.

I can't stand his voice. That lazy, almost whiney scruffiness...it just grates on my ear nerves.

Lol. So obviously a "Look at me! I watch what the kids are watching! We are still relevant!" interview.

Did anyone else see him on that VH1 version of Jeopardy they had for a while. He wiped the floor with the other contestants. The dude knows his music facts. He never seemed to take himself too seriously or think he was being a brilliant artist, so I like him.

LetLoveRule, I don't guess you want to share the stories of these other celebritites, do you? I love to hear who's a slimeball and who's not.

I'll bet you all you haters going on about not wanting Sugar Ray to come back haven't the slightest clue what their music used to sound like before they became massive. It was TOTALLY different to the candy floss they hit the charts with -- it was loud, rhythmic rock with great energy. And even the candy floss they later came up with had some substance to it. I think it was only that a lot of young girls screamed and yelled for Mark and put his poster up on their walls that the claws started coming out for them. Notice how so many other talented bands who also coincidentally had a large teenaged girl audience have in the past been slighted.

Also, No1uNo brought up an excellent point -- of all the contestants on "Rock & Roll Jeopardy" that VH1 used to have, Mark McGrath was the only one who annihilated their fellow competitors as much as he did. He won for his charity by an absurdly large sum. I have to respect anyone who knows that much about music, esp if they're in the music biz themselves.

I'm all for this Sugar Ray reunion. Bring it on.
