I Love Trash - 1969
This was the first airing of Oscar singing I Love Trash way back in 1969. Notice that back in the day Oscar was orange.

I love that orange Oscar.
Who knew he would inspire a nation? Oscar and his cohorts laid the foundation for the educational programming we have today. Of course, he also legitimized the behavior that has brought us a host of other programs, like Clean Sweep and Hoarders.
Thanks for sharing. Classic Sesame street is the best.
There was a story behind him turning to green, apparently he went to the country and the clean air made him change color. LOL!
Sesame Street is the best, and my 2 year old and I watch it together all the time. The "Old School" dvds are great, and I love the show now, even with all that Elmo.
did orange oscar inspire tanned hollywood (i'm talking to you lindsay lohand and george hamilton)?
aww, but come on enty, nothing can beat, 'rubber duckie, you're the one...'
We used to sit with a tape recorder & a microphone & tape episodes of Sesame Street for my baby brother.
Then they started releasing the LPs, which I was smart enough to save!
For my own kids I bought all of the video tapes.
Watching Sesame Street over the years as a child & an adult has been a wonderful experience.
P.s. I must order that Nice Jewish Guys calendar! A coworker has the 2009 version and it's hilarious.
BITCH, I LIVE IN A FUCKING TRASH CAN!!
Chappelle, anyone?
I was born in 1966 so I was raised on Sesame Street. A few years ago, Noggin used to play old school Sesame Street early in the morning with a very young Maria and Gordon wearing some fly threads.
Love the orange, but I think green is a much better color for him. Really brings out his eyes. :)
didn't big bird turn blue at some point in one of the movies or specials? loved that show

Grover owns it, bow down.
When I was little (mid-'70s), I had a piano music book with Sesame Street songs. This was one of my favorites.
Here's my favorite Street clip (I love the squeal!):

C is for Cookie, motherfuckers! I sing it to my little niece all the time, she LOVES it.
LOL @ the comment above me. I put "C is for cookie on our dog's myspace page" (shut up)because "cookie" is a dog biscuit around our house :-)
That song is my favorite :-)
