Rihanna, Lady GaGa & Fans

Yesterday both Lady GaGa and Rihanna met their fans at a Best Buy. Rihanna was scheduled to start meeting fans at 5pm. After leaving her fans in the cold for three hours she finally showed up. She then got out of there as quickly as she could.

Lady GaGa met her fans in Los Angeles, was on time and had pizza delivered for everyone in line.

Now, being late could have been out of Rihanna's control, although since her people didn't come up with any reason at all I'm guessing she didn't have a good reason and was willing to take the chance her fans wouldn't leave. She is probably right. Her true fans probably didn't leave, but those who were on the fence about liking her or wanted a reason to like her probably won't find one.

Meanwhile, Lady GaGa never had to worry about her fans leaving her but also probably won a bunch and had her good deed plastered all over the airwaves which probably found her even more fans. I noticed that yesterday she didn't go to the extreme in her outfit either. Oh sure it looks like she is wearing a pillow on her back, but at first glance it looks kind of normal which means she probably had the pizza thing in mind and knew cameras would be there and use the footage from last night. Smart. Very, very smart.

  1. see, unlike Mariah, Gaga doesn't need "people" to prop her up...

she just incorporates it into her outfits! lol

  2. The pillow on her back is the first time her gimmicky antics have amused me. Good idea since she would be sitting down for a while.

  3. i can't hate on lady gaga. her music is too catchy and stories like this make me think she truly appreciates her fans. good for her!

  4. I can't hate on the Gaga, either. Plus, she knows exactly what she's doing - she's a pr whiz.

  5. no way am i a gaga fan...but gotta hand it to her for doing pr right.

  6. Count me in on the can't hate the Gaga... This just made me appreciate her more...

  7. I love her more and more. She's all kinds of crazy, but it's hard not to respect her vision and commitment.

  8. loves the GAGA

  9. Not a fan, but that's pretty awesome.

  10. Not a GaGa fan either, but beginning to be one.

    Now, Rihanna OTOH...

  11. I like the Gaga but I can't embrace her fully as she's BFFs with that useless ball of fat Perez.

I've never liked Rihanna. I think her music sucks and she seems like an entitled little brat. I know I'll get completely flamed for this next statement but I'm gonna say it anyway. The Chris Brown beat-down did fabulous publicity for her. There's no way the media & paparazzi would obsess about her the way they do if that hadn't happened. Like she even said, she woke up one morning and became Britney Spears. Don't believe for a second she's not enjoying every minute of it.

  12. Still don't like Caca. She knows what she's doing, though.

  13. Nice to see a celebrity show the fans some respect and love. Ri-Ri was just plain rude by being late.

  14. I am not going to get either one of their albums but I have to hand it to Gaga...there is actually something going on between her ears. Ri-Ri is just an irritating diva.

  15. I like them both. There, I said it.

  16. I like the GaGa brand. I love the clever PR strategy and what appears to be good character.

She and I have some similar instincts in our work but the end result is pretty different. I learn a lot by watching.

And the songs grow on me after a while too.

  17. After the SNL apperance where she sang live I started to like her a little bit. Then I realized her videos were pretty darn awesome. And now, I must say, I actually like her! She seems like a smart young lady, with a clear vision.

Except for the whole friends with perez thing. But I guess thats pretty smart, too, for now.

  18. Excuse me, Enty, but you let us down. I believe on November 19 you said, and I'm quoting, "Lucky for everyone the driver pulled up right then. No word on if he still has a job. I will remember this story if Rihanna is ever late for something with no excuse."

    ga-ga-ooh-la-la! love her!

  20. Good for Gaga. Don't forget, she's been around the block a few times and worked hard to get where she is.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Smart move. Like others, I wasn't a fan but didn't hate GaGa, just thought she was kinda silly but with the occasional catchy tune. Next...

But after this story I'm much more inclined to think of her in a positive light.

Unlike Rihanna whose PR just keeps getting worse and worse.

  23. I saw Lady Gaga last night on Leno--I found that she came off on the intelligent side.
I just want to add my 13 year old son thinks she looks like mashed potatoes, & his friend thought she looked like a chicken nugget--they came to these conclusions totally separate. I had to laugh--they did find her not a "hottie".

  24. ITA, Cheryl, Gaga gets all kinds of passes from me. And she has has the talent to back it all up. Here, her hair and makeup are wonderful. She looks beautiful.

  25. I never thought I'd say this, but I love her. I became a fan about 3 months ago. I love her music, her weirdness, her strong stance on gay marriage and she's good to her fans.

  26. I don't care if she's blogged about as being a witch or heavy into freemason imagery - she's the Madonna for her generation - and can actually sing. She does seem grateful for what she has.

I like how Jay mentioned rumours about her and when he asked which was the worst one she heard she said, "That I'm from Yonkers."

If I could figure out a way to buy tickets without a credit card, I'd see her Friday night.

  27. I was determined to hate this woman based on her outrageous outfits but damn it she is really growing on me. First she goes and makes me enjoy her on SNL, then last night on Leno, she was fantastic, her dancing, her singing, her wonderful wit, damn, I am 56 and I am thinking about buying her album, go figure.

  28. As much as I've loved this site for so long, the RiRi bashing finally got to me tonight.
Since you don't like her, do the black-out thing as you did with Speidi and Paris Hilton.
I know it's about her using her beating as a PR tool; just tell me when NO ONE ELSE ever did this.

    I give up Enty.

    You win.

She's broken, will never be your favorite.

Knowing that Lady Gaga is a trust fund kid just playing at artistry must make you so happy.

    Whatever.

I'm done...so sorry. And I have read this site for years...even was excited about reveals. But this kinda broke the spell.

As much as you protest, RiRi could have been banned on your site.
Between you and Lainey beating the same fucking dead horses for MONTHS on end, I've found myself searching other sites that are more general and less likely to zero in on one or five or ten people who they don't like.

You are not Perez. Thank GOD. But shit, this is about the rudest I've seen you be in a while. And you coulda saved this for some really devious fuckers but no...it's all about some little black girl who took months to decide she was done with her bad ass badly behaved boy friend.

I'm so sure you never heard of this before, right?

Well let me clue you in.

    Just for shits and giggles.

My 19th birthday ended with my so called boyfriend starting a fight that caused me, after a fishdinner, and too much tequila sunrise...to break a bottle and put it to his neck to stop him from hitting me.

I'd suffered abuse from 2 sets of foster parents in two different states prior to this. For the second foster mom, I had to beat her ass at 15 to live to go to college, finish it and work for the last 33 years.

You'd think I woulda just taken the beating and moved on.
Fuck that, my friend. I almost cut his throat.

Whatever she and that moron picking up trash like a common shit head criminal had was fine WITH HER until he over reacted. Her bad judgement was clearly that. Why keep beating this dead horse?

I've told my husband of 28 years about that bodybuilder ex boyfriend of mine...he just laughed and bought me a pair of brass knuckles for our 10th anniversary.

Truth to tell...the steroid raged fuckhead tried for SIX MONTHS to get me back.

I ignored him, then I graduated college, already had a job...got a better job and moved the fuck out so he couldn't stalk me anymore.

I also bought a weapon. Since back then it was no big deal...well...yes it was. I wasn't old enuf to have one.
So I gave it back and moved on.

When I was 21, I was able to buy a real weapon. I always figured he'd find me.

He never did. If he had, he KNEW what was in store.

So as I stood in the pouring rain outside his fucking house on my 19th birthday at about 11 pm waiting for a cab, I figured the sex wasn't worth it, the attention wasn't worth it, NOTHING was worth it.

Nice to know you have your finger on the pulse of every black woman who's survived being any kind of victim...or willing participant in victim-hood.

    Very nice to know.

Good night everyone, maybe I drank too much Captain Morgan tonight and took this a little too personally.
But once that happens, as an introvert, you won't have to worry.

I have nothing bad to say about this site or your commenter family. I know I'm not the only one....whatever.

But over and over and over, and introverts lose interest. Get too specific and we're paranoid ... or that's just me.

This is a heartbreaker for me. I was comfy as a lurker.

Shit. I'm done. Thanks for the entertainment, EVERYONE.

Bless you all and Happy Holidays.

  29. Yay Enty for posting this! I love gaga- So glad to see someone from my generation being the new Madonna~ and this ladies and gentlemen is how you work the pr machine. Those who always tagged Britney as the new Madge might be getting it now, she never had a chance because she never had the control, the independence to stand on her own two feet and the brains to figure it all out that Madge has and Gaga has, awesome. And I am still dying over the broken bottles she smashed while playing piano at the AMA's.

  30. I love the cleverness of GaGa's PR savvy.

    Smart brains are sexy.

  32. While Gaga has better vocal talents than Madge a lot of the power behind her newfound fame is her PR skills, i.e. clothes, catchy but daring pop songs, etc. Madge perfected that all when I was a kid, listening to 'Like a Virgin' at 2 yrs old. And honestly while Gaga DOES have a great voice, she's no Whitney range, her fame is similiar to Madge's in this sense, which is what I meant.

  33. Lady GaGa the new Madonna???
    I think that's an insult! =]
Lady GaGa is more talented than Madge
Can't wait to see her in San Francisco.
I'm gonna have some fun. Her beat is sick!

    RiRi bores me.

    Next, please...

  35. Nosey Parker, I meant what Jasmine meant as well. Except that I wasn't 2 years old listening to Like a Virgin. I was making fun of it in my 20s.

  36. I put the =] because I didn't want to sound serious. I like GaGa better, but think most prefer Madonna.
