Jimmy Kimmel & Chevy Chase Do Jay Leno & Conan O'Brien

One of the funnier things I saw last night in my channel surfing was Jimmy Kimmel making fun of NBC by dressing as Jay Leno. Not just for a minute, but for the entire show, and in character. Not to be outdone, Chevy Chase dressed as Conan O'Brien when he was being interviewed by Jimmy.

  4. I don't understand, why all the hate on Jay? It seems like he's been getting ripped a new one since he took over the tonight show upteen years ago.

  5. Hilarious!

Sorry, can't stand Jay Leno and his banal-as-hell humor. He used to be funny, ages ago when he did stand up.

  6. Love that Kimmel did this and I LOVED what Ferguson said too (Rat Bastards!). I'm going to be a very depressed girl if Conan quits and is not picked up by anyone else.

    I stand with CoCo.

  7. I am over Leno. Think Conan's great and I love how he is handling this.

"My name is Conan O'Brien and I may soon be available for children's parties."

He then reminisced about watching the "Tonight Show" as a child: "I remember watching Johnny Carson and thinking, someday I'm going to host that show for seven months."

  8. I don't care much for Jay or Conan, but either way NBC screwed the pooch big time on this one. I can't see how the network or either one of these guys can come out of this unscathed. Everybody ends up looking like an idiot.

  11. Something tells me Leno is trying to use the bad press/karma the world is giving him into getting an even bigger pay raise. Man, this guy is awful. Kimmel's impression of him was dead on.

i don't care for either of them, but everywhere i read how people love/d conan and how unfair this is! where the hell were all the conan watchers while letterman was whipping his ass in the ratings?

  13. Jimmy Kimmel sucks balls!

"This video contains content from Jimmy Kimmel Live, who has decided to block it in your country"

  14. Conan's statement on the matter was so thoughtful and even a little touching. Most people here probably grew up w/ Johnny Carson, too. The Tonight Show is like motherhood and apple pie, and NBC is trying to kill it.

Jay sucks. NBC should just drop him. Most of his years were when NBC was #1 in Prime Time. He will not do so well these days.

I truly hope that Conan's musicians and staff are taken care of as well. If they are it looks like Andy Richter got lucky.

  15. I thought Conan's remarks were elegant and very funny. Although I don't see how this is Jay's fault (at this point), Jay's monologue and standard skits are boring as hell. I don't understand why they don't give Conan more time. I know that since he took over the Tonight Show, my son and I have been watching. I also love, love Craig Ferguson. I wonder if Jay has been whining to NBC that he wants to go back to his old timeslot, anf that's what started all this. Jay should be happy he gets all the major stars. If Conan could snag them, Jay would be in trouble.

  16. DJ- Conan still has a lot of fans and viewers, and that's who you're hearing.
Just not as strong as Jay's, b/c
Jay was a habit for people for many years, and when he 'retired', Letterman soared b/c CBS Prime Time is so strong these days. There were a few months between Leno's and Conan's shows. Folks tuned elsewhere during that time. Conan then has to start his show when NBC is doing worse than ever; his lead-in is weak.

I can't believe they wouldn't give him more time. I've watched Conan since his first show. That's why I'm so emphatic.

  18. People are blaming Jay because Conan is taking the fall for Leno's utter failure at 10:00 pm. Everyone knows the lead-in is important for late night ratings. When Leno took over The Tonight Show, NBC was in it's prime. Now, Leno is a huge part of the NBC prime time fail, and the guy taking the hit is the late night guy?

  19. Kimmel was hilarious. the bit where he went over the newspaper failed headlines was too funny.

Leno just needs to bow out. Conan is awesome.

  20. I just don't find Conan funny. Love Jay Leno but his Jaywalking skits are stupid.

  21. I feel very uncomfortable that people are trying to blame Jay Leno for something that the network did. Conan is getting a raw deal but place the blame where it belongs.

  22. @ Anothermy

I have PLENTY of hate reserved for the NBC execs. I don't think ALL hate should be directed at some but based on what happened with Letterman back in the day, I would HARDLY say he's innocent in all this.
