Beyonce Sold 72,000 Bottles Of Perfume In One Hour
It appears that people actually enjoy smelling like Beyonce. While Diddily Piddily is forced to go the home shopping route to sell his scent, the rest of the world appears to be willing to actually make the effort to buy Beyonce's perfume. Most celebrity perfumes generate about $2.5M in sales over the course of a year. According to WWD, Beyonce's perfume has made that in a month. In fact so many of you love smelling like Beyonce that her perfume is the number one selling brand at Macy's and at one Macy's when Beyonce made an appearance the store sold 72,000 bottles in the one hour she was there.
Ok! Bey I see ya!
ReplyDeleteNow that being said... Beyonce' is ALL about marketing you can dislike her or not, but LIL Miss is selling a prodict and fans and foes are purchasing.
Well good. Maybe it doesn't stink to high Heaven like so many celebrity "fragrances" do.
ReplyDeleteOf course personally I'd rather not see those dang armpits while discussing perfume...
Urgh... I don't even want know what it smells like, much less pay for the privilege.
ReplyDeleteI haven't liked anything this woman's done since 2003. She should have retired after Crazy In Love.
If it smells nice, women will purchase it, no matter who peddles it. I hate to admit it, but one of my favorite perfumes is one by Britney Spears. I don't buy it though. I can't pay for Britney's insanity. But I love the perfume. I would buy one by Beyonce if I liked it.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any perfume in my home that is marketed by a celeb and I don't buy perfume based on who is shilling it but rather on the scent itself. If it smells nice I will get it.
ReplyDeleteDon't buy it (pun intended)
ReplyDeletepopular concerts dont even sell that fast
I can't wait for the day she retires. So bored of her and I never thought I'd say this but Jay-Z too.
ReplyDeleteThis could be the best smelling perfume ever, and I wouldn't buy it. I absolutely HATE Beyonce with the fire of a million red hot suns, and it makes me insane that so many people actually PAY for the lowest common denominator, formulaic garbage that she shits out. THIS BITCH HAS NO TALENT OR APPEAL, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HUMANITY? How is she in any way attractive, and who in their right mind would want to smell like her? WTF? I'd buy a turd before I spent one cent on anything this useless, screeching harpy slaps her (idiotic) name on. RAAAAGH I HATE HER SOOO MUCH!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it just smells good?
ReplyDelete@West End Girl
ReplyDeleteIf she sticks to the plan she laid out some 10 years ago on an MTV documentary thing, there's still 2 years to go: "When I'm 30, I want to have a certain amount in the bank, and I don't want to work."
I actually used to think she was one of the more palatable popstars around, since she was a hard worker, her songs had a bit of quirk to them and she seemed more fun and sincere in interviews compared to the more robotic ways of the average starlet.
Now she just churns out overprocessed garbage. And the capitalist school of popularity she embodies - "I'm a brand, let's see how many products I can flog!" - is cheap and vulgar.
Let's just hope the crap she shills hits the "certain amount" target and she'll pack it in soon.
@Amanda Rae
ReplyDeleteTell us how u really feel! LOL

ReplyDeleteCall me a snob, but celebrity fragrances smell cheap to me.
ReplyDeleteI've gotta agree with Terri on this subject. I refused to buy any perfume by any celebrity, especially Britney. I think all of her perfumes stink to high heaven. I refused to purchase them because of price and who shilled them. However, the one in the black bottle snared me,and I thought about it for 3 weeks before I caved and shelled out the $40 for it. I wear it every day, and I still think it's yummy. So I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt and take a sniff.
ReplyDelete72000/60 (min in an hour) = 1200 a minute. Not possible, a typical Macy's transaction takes at least 3 minutes (provided both behind/infront of the counter are on the ball). I don't mind Beyonce, I do mind BS.
ReplyDeleteLady J-
ReplyDeleteLOL, when it comes to Beyonce (God, even her NAME is fucking asinine) I will always tell it like it is. Mainly because I just cannot stop myself!
@ ykkstuck, I worked retail when I was young and thought that same thing. No Macys on earth has a big enough store room to have 72,000 bottles out back. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI get not liking the product she produces, and I won't ever buy a celebrity fragrance no matter how good it smells but come on. No talent? Even if you don't like her music you can't say she's not talented.
ReplyDeletehey one of my faves is Brit-Brit's too! it's the one called Curious.
ReplyDeleteSmells great
wow amanda rae is getting her hate on...
ReplyDeleteLOL Amanda Rae - while I don't think I'm QUITE as passionate as you on the topic, I DO cosign. But I am also a little TERRIFIED...
ReplyDeleteLOL ;P
I admit I wear Britney Spears- I think it's Curious??? Smells like sex in a bottle on me, so I shamelessly give her my $27 and support the crazy. It's all good- Brit Brit helps me get laid. We have an understanding :)
ReplyDeleteAlso I co-sign the HELL outta Amanda Rae.
ReplyDeleteI Detest this stank ass bitch. Really. I would stab her in the eye if I ever met her. I understand your loathing! Anything Beyonce related makes me throw up a little in the back of my mouth.
Agree with SFG - I'm no huge Beyonce fan, but the chick is talented. Period.
ReplyDeleteWRT to the perfume, I have a hell of a time finding fragrances I like, so with the exception of JLo (I will not buy ANYTHING of hers, EVER), I'd buy a fragrance by anyone if it smelled good. In fact, I'm now really curious about what this smells like.
Beyonce is that one person for me....you all know what I mean. That one person whose existence just infuriates you, that person that, from the first time you set eyes on them, you loathe them with a vengeance, etc. Um...at least I HOPE y'all know what I mean! Don't you?

ReplyDeleteOh I KNOW what you mean. I'm no Beyonce fan but mine is Katherine Heigl. I have thrown things at my TV before when I turned the channel and GA came on.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good damn thing that I will never be near her in real life because I would be scared that I'd commit unholy acts of violence on her. It'd be like Mean Girls, only with a lot more blood :)
@amanda rae -- I totally get you. I feel that way with Kate Gosselin and Katy Perry.
ReplyDeleteI also agree on celebrity perfumes. I wouldn't buy a thing with JLo, Britney, Kardashian, Paris Hilton, etc. name on it. However I did love the scent of Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely when I smelled it in my People mag. Hers is the only frag I ever bought (but when people compliment it & ask what it is I pretend that I forgot LOL).
In a perfect world, this would be a word problem to calculate how many idiots are in the world. Sadly, this is not a perfect world
ReplyDeleteOkay don't hate or throw things at me.. I actually like Britney's perfumes.
ReplyDeleteNow for Bey's.. I did sniff it this week and well.. it isn't bad, just not all that good. But perfumes are such a personal choice..
My take, if you like it wear it, if you don't, then don't. But always give it the sniff test to see for yourself.
JMHO from a true beauty junkie gang.
Sorry but I wouldn't waste my money on anything that is by BeYonce. Can't stand her.
ReplyDeleteit will show up at Marshall's by the summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic, so I avoid even those nazi perfume sprayers in the stores.
ReplyDeleteI call BS on this story. The physical reality of one store handling that many transactions in 60 minutes... not possible. That is, unless they sold 71,000 to say, Jay-Z. Publicity spin - or perhaps, in this case, innumeracy on the part of the store manager or original reporter - needs to be exposed. While some celebrities may be more fabulous than regular beings, they don't smell so much better!
ReplyDeleteThe presence of Eric Winter in the commercials makes the buying of Britney's fragrances acceptable.
ReplyDeleteI saw an article or a few years ago about how a lot of the celeb perfumes had been worked by the top people in the business and were actually comparable to higher end scents. I have no idea if it's true, I think I'd feel like a teenager if I bought a celeb perfume.
ReplyDelete@ amanda rae: that one person for me is probably Gwyneth Paltrow. I'd wear cat piss before wearing a perfume sold by that pretentious cunt. Hopefully if she ever does market a perfume she'll name it "Goop" and won't sell one fucking bottle.
ReplyDeleteI also think that Beyonce is talented, not to mention very pretty. I wouldn't shell out cash for her songs on iTunes but I have Dirpy'd some to put on my iPod to use for working out. Nope, I'm not even ashamed to say I did it.
I've heard that some of Britney's perfumes are surprisingly nice (you'd think they'd smell like "Cheetos and Mt. Dew" or "Starbucks and Cigarettes") You go, Brit Brit!. I have a thing about perfume: I have to spray a bit on my wrist and wear it awhile before making a decision. Sometimes after an hour I find it nauseating and have to swab it off with alcohol; then I know it's not for me. I'm hitting the mall tomorrow; maybe I'll test Beyonce's perfume. A friend of mine who is into everything new and trendy tried it and referred to it as, "Eau de Ho", so we'll see.
BTW, for ages I thought "Beyonce" was an "untradtional" name, in the trend that many African American families follow. I've even heard Chris Rock made fun of her name in one of his comedy routines. Then I read that "Beyonce" (or a form of Beyonce) is actually her mother's maiden name.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with TinselSass' post. I'll bet that Jay-Z has a frickin' warehouse full of bottles of B's new perfume. I know what his friends and the people at his record label will be getting for birthdays and for Christmas for Kwanzaa for the next half a century!
Okay, shutting up now.
This year South by Southwest Musical Festival Muse will be delivering a grand performance. The festival will commence in the third week Of March in Austin, Texas. The date of the performance has not yet been confirmed by the band officially but some sources have reported that the British trio will be performing on Saturday, March 20 at Stubb’s. Other bands that have been included as performers in the festival include Spoon, Street sweeper social club, Band of Horses, Jakob Dylan with Neko Case and Motor Head.
ReplyDeleteMuse is currently busy in a North American arena tour. The tour started back in February with a show in Atlanta. The drummer Dominic Howard said that the significance of choosing Atlanta for the tour was ‘to prove that they're not jinxed.’
He was actually referring to the last performance of the band in Atlanta in 2004. He said,
“I don't think we even got through the first song, I think we began with a track called 'Citizen Erased,' and Matt (Matthew, singer/guitarist) smashed his lip completely in two on the end of his guitar, and we were forced to cancel the show because he was just spitting blood all over the stage."
After 2004, Muse got the album Black Holes and Revelations nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2006. After that Muse gained popularity in North America as much as it received in its home country, Britain. The mainstream pop culture of North America has been influenced by the band's bombastic guitar rock. In 2009 the American Idol's runner-up Adam Lambert covered Muse's Starlight on the Idols Live tour. In his debut album he also included a song titled 'Soaked’ by Bellamy. For the Twilight Saga the band provided music for first two soundtracks. However, according to Howard, Muse will not be involved in the making of the third sound track. Muse's current album, The Resistance added to the band's success. It was at No. 1 in Canada and reached at No. 3 in the U.S. The album clearly reflected inspirations. Bellamy declared that George Orwell's classic 1984 was one particular inspiration.
Matthew Bellamy (singer/guitarist) and Dominic Howard (drummer) played in two different bands at Teignmouth Community College in Devon, England. They came together and formed a band in 1994. The band was named originally as Rocket Baby Dolls. In early days of the career, the Rocket baby dolls were the winners of a local battle of the bands. Then they changed the name of the band to Muse. Muse moved to London and signed a deal. The band recorded its first album named as, "Showbiz,"in1999. The album was co-produced by John Leckie from Stone Roses and Radiohead.
