Four For Friday - With An Old Hollywood Item

#1 & #2- Let us try for one more Old Hollywood blind item. As always, when it is Old Hollywood, at least one of the people is dead. This A++ movie actor was nominated for an Oscar but did not win. Everyone knows his name and the name of his partner. It turns out though, that like yesterdays actor, this actor also had a thing for little boys.

#1 - Actor
#2 - Partner

#3 - This married A+ list movie actor talks a lot about his work and what causes him to take one role over another. The fact is he takes roles which let him complete his game. The game is to sleep with one woman from at least every country in the world. He loves going to regions of the world where he can bring in women from countries he has not been with yet.

#4 - This 30 something B- list very attractive television actress on a hit network show is always seen with guys and has dated lots of men. The thing no one knows about her though is that she is still a virgin.

  3. 3. Is C. Bale A+?

    4. Evidently, *someone* knows.

It's no big deal. Lisa Kudrow waited until marriage, at 32.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 1. Fred Astaire nominated but never won
    2. Ginger Rogers

    ReplyDelete
  5. 1&2: Is it "partner" as in acting partner, or sex partner?

  7. Guesses for #1 - (A+ actors that never won)-
    Cary Grant
    Charlie Chaplin
James Dean (not sure if he had a 'partner')
    Steve McQueen

    #3 - Clooney

    #4 - Sofia Vergara?

    ReplyDelete
  8. 4. JLH- Show- Ghost Whisperer?

    ReplyDelete
  9. #3 Matt Damon

#4 Kate Gosselin (I don't believe they ever actually had sex)

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1 & 2 Liz and Dick

    3 Matt Damon

    4 Olivia Wilde

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL, Patty!

Nothing wrong with being a virgin at any age.

    ReplyDelete
  12. ack! Not Fred Astaire! I love him!

    ReplyDelete
  13. #1 and #2 - Trying to decipher in what way we should take the word "partner". Is it a romantic partner? If so, does that mean a homosexual relationship? Or does it mean a professional partner like the Marin/Lewis guess from MontanaMarriott? In any case it sounds like this guy was a definite pedophille since Enty used the phrase "little boys". So we're not talking about consenting nearly-legal teens. Hope there's a hell, cause he's there.

Famous A++ partnerships are Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers, Martin and Lewis, and Abbott and Costello.

A famous A++ romance was Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. But he won two or three Oscars so that lets him out.

A famous homosexual pairing was Cary Grant and Randolph Scott, but I wouldn't say that everyone knows the name of Randolph Scott. Grant never won an Oscar although he did get an honorary one. I refuse to believe this about him though. I LOVE Cary. PLEASE don't let this be him.

    Somebody guess someone else!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Just thought about another famous pair - Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Bing was a beast to his kids and I already dislike him, so I guess him for #1.

    ReplyDelete
  15. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Damn, did Bing win an Oscar? I think he did. Shit. Did Hope? I like him. Somebody tell me that Bing never won.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Here's a list of actors that never won:
    http://www.filmsite.org/noawards3.html#4
I looked up a lot of them to see if I recognized any of the wives, but didn't, so thinking "partner" is indeed a trick term.

    ReplyDelete
  18. In that site based on Enty's wording it would be Astaire. Dean Martin was never nominated and Enty says "he was nominated for AN Oscar" not several like the other guesses just once. And everyone knows Astaire and Rogers.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, missed the oscar singular. Richard Burton was nominated multiple times and never won. I joining the Fred Astair guesses.

    ReplyDelete
  20. no, no, no, no, no, not Bing. I have covered my ears for years to any bad thing said about him because he is my all time fave. I will live in my happy place of not knowing bad things about him.

Oh, and he won for "Going my Way".

    ReplyDelete
  21. MontanaMarriott makes sense. Fred and his dance partner Ginger.

#3 Matt Damon. Jason Bourne is a globe hopper and there have always been rumors about him that seem incongruous with his image.

#4 JLH maybe. Her body is a wonderland but she's no sexual napalm. Olivia Wilde is much more attractive but she's been married for a few years so probably not her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. #1. What about Roddy McDowell and Montgomery Clift? Clift was nominated for four Oscars (I don't know if the singular Oscar mention would preclude him). Although I'd hate it to be either of them.

James Dean isn't part of that one, though. If he'd been banging little boys, he'd have talked about. He announced he was bisexual to a reporter back in the 50s.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I remember hearing that James Dean was a call boy before he made it big. His clients were major players in the studio system at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 4. Bones Emily Deschanel?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm going to take a stab at this. Jerry Lewis. Partner was Dean Martin. Nominated for Oscar--but only was given one recently as a HUMANITARIAN award. Definitely A++ if you look at his accomplishments, and extraordinarily popular in France.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wasn't JLH the answer to the BI about the actress with bizarre demands during sex? Wouldn't that rule her out of being a virgin? Not to mention that Ghost Whisperer is no longer on the air.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous2:26 PM

melody the first, i don't know if it has "ever" been acceptable, at least publicly to reporters, to say that you sleep with as in have sex with little boys. charlie chapman's exploits were became known, when he died.

but i don't think this is james dean.

    ReplyDelete
  28. To pay his way in NYC, James Dean went around with a guy named Rogers Brackett and his buddies. They were all older and plugged-in. Dean was just a kid himself then, however, so I don't see him being drawn to little boys.

And he was nominated for two Oscars.

    ReplyDelete
  29. pablo, my point was that it wasn't at all acceptable in 1954 to say you were bisexual either. And Dean loved shocking people.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I change my mind already. Liz Taylor is in today's pics. So, #1 Richard Burton.

    ReplyDelete
  31. #3) Sir Anthony Hopkins

    ReplyDelete
  32. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  33. #4 I'll go with Michaela Conlin from Bones.

    ReplyDelete
  34. #1 - first guy to come to mind was Rock Hudson, he was nominated for Giant. Partner could be Doris Day or he had a long-term tv actor bf named Marc Christian...

    #3 - Nicholas Cage?

#4 - no clue??? who is virgin-like in hollywood besides Tina Fey?

    ReplyDelete
  35. All the guesses for #1 are making me sad. Let's face it, anyone who was A++ is going to be a widely beloved person.

#4 should be fairly easy to narrow down. There aren't that many hit network shows that aren't reality. Look at their casts and eliminate anyone who is or has been married or who has children. Sounds like a good weekend project if I get bored.

    ReplyDelete
  36. someone guessed kate gosselin for #4, but it said very attractive. um, not her.

for #3, i don't care who this is. what a douche.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1/2# ilike Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers guess

    3# i don't know !
Bale traveled sometime for movies(Batman movies, Rescue Dawn...)but he's ALL TIME with his wife and is he A+ list?
    isn't Damon Cuba for Lainey?
i will say Nicolas Cage because he loves exotic women ,he works a lot

4# i like JLH guess but she was my guess in another BI on an actress with strange sexual preferments

    ReplyDelete
  38. #1: I think "at least one of the people is dead" may be a clue that the partner is dead and the diddler is alive, so maybe Jerry Lewis?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Michael K on Dlisted has the BEST EVER photo of Parisite Hilton!

    I laughed and laughed...

I'm with the Fred and Ginger gang.

I like Nic Cage for #3.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think "partner" is the big clue. Enty didn't say spouse, significant other. The partner fits with Fred Astaire which I hope all of us on that band wagon are wrong because "little boys" means whoever this is/was a pedophile!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rocket Queen, when did Clooney get married????

    ReplyDelete
  42. #3 Krishna Bhanji errrr....Sir Ben Kingsley

    ReplyDelete
  43. He didn't, Middle-aged. I made a mistake and misread the question. My most humble apologies. I know you have some sort of problem with me - so is my apology satisfactory?

    ReplyDelete
  44. #1 & #2 Steve McQueen and Aly MacGraw.

#4 Cote de Pablo (Ziva) from NCIS? I also like the Emily Deschanel guess though she might be higher than B-?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Matt Damon? He's gay! He's the Blind Item about the guy who is Gay right under our nose with the Latin 'assistant'.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Emily Deschanel or Sofia Vergara. I like Sofia Vergara because even though she is a beautiful woman, she is still very dignified, just like Emily. J L H is a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  47. OMG! Jennifer Aniston is in the Pictures. It's Her! ANISTON IS THE VIRGIN!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Kate Walsh is a virgin, but she's gay, so she doesn't count.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sofia Vergara has a son born in 1992.

    ReplyDelete
  50. RocketQueen, Your such a Bitch. Your a smart ass too and its nothing to be proud of.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Becki, RQ is here regularly. I don't think I've ever seen you post before.

And it's "you're" not "your." In both cases.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I like the Richard Burton guess for #1 but refuse to believe it. I've been on a Liz 'n Dick kick thanks to Lainey - and Dame Elizabeth did us the honor of tweeting several times yesterday. I am going to have to go with Fred Astaire. He was too suave to be a straight man. The 'little' boys thing is vague. In some states, 14 is the age of consent. Too vague of a BI.

I'm interested in #3 because I can't believe you can pick parts that way and still be A+. Jesus, and I thought my life was boring. It appears that even rich and famous people do stupid sh*t because they're bored. Not that this makes me feel any better...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I totally believe that Jennifer Love Hewitt is still a virgin (not that there's anything wrong with that)...

    ReplyDelete
  54. What's with all these nasty ass posters crawling out of the termite-infested woodwork lately?

    Anyway, my guesses:

    1 - Abbott or Costello?

    3 - Gerald Butler?

    4 - No idea.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pretty sad we only notice the 'new' nasty ass, but the regular nastyass get a free pass.

    ReplyDelete
  56. mygeorgie, I don't know of anyone as nasty as the new band. And I don't recall seeing you here before.

If you're talking about the general sardonic voice of gossip boards and it bothers you, then I'd recommend you just stay away from gossip communities of any kind.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ohhh, not my Gerry Butler!

Fred Astaire always gave me a weird gay vibe...... It's probably Rock Hudson, he was sooooooo freakin handsome in his prime..Love him in Giant!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think #3 is Leonardo??

    ReplyDelete
  59. 1. Gregory Peck and
    2. Troy Donahue
    3. Leonardo DiCaprio
    4. Anna Lynn McCord

    ReplyDelete
  60. Melody, since I'm already on your shitlist, I will say it: mygeorgie has been here for a while. It doesn't matter anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  61. #3 isn't Leonardo. He isn't married
    #4 isn't Annalynne she is 22.

    ReplyDelete
  62. chihuahuense, I don't have a shitlist. If we have a tart exchange, it's just part of adult conversation. I don't carry grudges. In fact, while I remember your name, I don't recall the instance you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  63. JLH dated John Mayer and he wrote "your body is a wonderland" for her, so I doubt she's a virgin. And if she were no doubt Big Mouth Mayer would have said so.

    Yeah, prolly Astaire. Sads.

I too think that there have been several blinds about Matt Damon being gay. Do you suppose his wife knows? And if so, is their marriage just an bearding agreement like Tommy Boy and Stepford Katie?

    ReplyDelete
  64. ...Damon is the blind about the guy with the Latin lover, and Clooney is the blind about the star who likes big black guys. The latter makes me sad--I love Clooney and would like to think he's one of the few on our team. Sigh.

Oh, but none of my friends will believe me when I tell them this! Even my gay boyfriend is all "no way is Clooney gay."

    ReplyDelete
  65. Of course you don't remember it. If one says something that is scathing to another, the speaker rarely remembers, but the target will. It's the nature of the beast.

And who said anything about grudges? In the other thread I was simply pointing out an instance where you take an "adult conversation" and turn it into a "me v. you" situation. Maybe your conversations regularly include hurling insults, but mine don't.

Mygeorgie made a valid observation, and yet again you made it personal by telling them what you *recommend.*

    ReplyDelete
  66. girls please..I was sitting here nicely distracted by visualizing a naked Sean Bean and Viggo Mortenwhatsthathotguyslastname not together but separately..for the Your turn..talk about a buzz kill I'm heading back over there..

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous7:43 PM

**cues justin timberlake: cry me a river**

    mygeorgie has posted here before.
remember, if you get to say whatever you want, so do others! lol.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous7:44 PM

goodbye, redronnie. btw, how do you know that we are all girls. we could be gay males. *waves*

    ReplyDelete
  69. sadly, i think fred astaire fits this blind really well. though rock hudson is pretty solid too.

i kind of like pommes guess about nicolas cage, cuz he does work a lot and even though he's got some good titles under his belt, he could be picking much better roles- i could see him passing up better roles if it means getting some exotic ass, which we already know he likes.

my only problem with jlh for #4 is that nobody is gonna write a song for someone they aren't sleeping with, couple that with it being about her body, and i think that rules her out. sure, she could be that much of a tease, but no one writes songs about teases. plus, wasn't she the popular guess for the blind about the actress with crazy sex rules?

can we all start being nice to eachother here again? there's bitches and assholes everywhere, that doesn't mean you have to stoop to their level. we have some great posters here, so focus on them and not the ones that bother you.

    ReplyDelete
  70. If the comments here start to become like the ones at dlisted or celebitchy (surprisingly even worse than dlisted, didn't think that was possible!) this blog will lose its appeal. People who comment for the sole purpose of bitching at others - like our friend Becki up there, second time I've seen her do it - should be ignored, just like trolls. Just my two cents.

As for the blind - I'm on the Astaire train sadly :( Why the hell were there so many pedophiles in old Hollywood?!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Cry me a river..you're sweet. I think I forgot my hat - far too distracted by the imagery

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ Becki: The regulars on CDAN are, for me, what make the sight what it is. There is a group I post around the edges of, RQ among them, whose comments I may not always agree with but always enjoy reading (she's funny!) I once posted "First!" to an item (as a joke) and got my ass kicked by RQ and her old avatar, among others, because I deserved it--that Perez Hilton shit don't play here! Everybody brings something different to the site, including their opinions and attitudes, but we can agree to disagree civilly.

    ReplyDelete
  73. chi, I said nothing "scathing" to you unless your post was "scathing." People rarely remember their own scathing posts but remember others.

I shall now just ignore you (and your little friends).

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous8:11 PM

And those same people who are getting bitched at today and will be the same ones who turn around and bitch at others tomorrow. I would say that our martyr or sacrificial lamb was the one who started this current spill.

This blog has already lost its appeal; hence I don't need to venture over here until Fridays and BI reveals!

    Meoooooow!

"and got my ass kicked by RQ and her old avatar, among others, because I deserved it"

Really. Where was her civility then?

    ReplyDelete
  75. HK, what is "civility?" Simply agreeing with everything? Or not stating an opinion in your own words?

I've just realized that Chi is, in fact, the same person who felt personally attacked by my stating the opinion that her friend Mel's church is loony toons. (I'll respond to her remarks about that over there).

Disagreement is not arguing. Adults can differ on opinion, even in rigorous language, and still do so without attacking anyone. In the UK it's called English conversation.

And now I will go back to ignoring the whole band.

    ReplyDelete
  76. i dont even know what you guys are bickering about..maybe it is too much champs-but do a frankie goes to hollywood...this is a blog...

i go here for less stressers not more! lets discuss the good stuff like what the hecks is going to happen on true blood/mad men!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. PS: no idea about the blinds...going to watch ANTM now!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I quake to mention this due to the usual board equilibrium seemingly disturbed by the dark side today, but is anyone else bothered by the wording in #3? The BI's goal is "to sleep with one woman from at least every country in the world." So once that goal is reached, is next his goal to sleep with one woman from at least every planet in the solar system?

Shouldn't that have read "to sleep with at least one woman from every country in the world"?

And I am curious - if a foreign born woman is either living or visiting the US, and he sleeps with her, does he get to color in the country on his little map of the world? Or does it only count if he sleeps with the indigeneous woman in the country she resides? While he is on location, does he travel to other nearby countries to fulfill his quest?

Considering the shockingly high incidence of HIV in some countries around the world, I do hope he is playing safe.

As for #1 and #2, all the OH couples I can think of where the man was A++ also had the man winning an Oscar (Bogey and Bacall, Tracey and Hepburn) thus disqualifying them as contenders for this BI. Oh Fred... say it ain't so.

    ReplyDelete
  79. #4 is so refreshing! Not that I'm an abstinence advocate or anything, but Hollywood promiscuity is so out of control, it's good to have some balance.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh, Effervescent Diva, now i'm imagining walking into some guy's bedroom and, instead of notches on a bedpost or something, there's a map of the world on the wall. And some countries are colored in. Then i wonder if he color codes based on activities performed and/or the level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction achieved. Are gold stars or smilie/frownie faces applied?

And i never can guess the blinds, but Fred Astaire sadly rings true.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Astaire. No.

    No. No.

    No.

    Y'all are on crack.

    There. I said it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Truth time.

We're all assholes on here, at one time or another, on some level or another. The people who aren't assholes aren't on a gossip site commenting away on whether or not Mel is a sociopathic psycho because a) they're too scared of dicks like us ripping them a new one, and b) they're too busy making cookies for the shut-ins. Also, people aren't going to play nice on here always, cause that is life, people aren't nice all the time, and that's the truth.

    So there.

And while we're in the honesty circle (at least I am), Robert you sound like a pussy for saying you deserved to be chewed out by RQ for posting first. Who gives a fuck if you say first once in your life? So what? You should have stood up for youself on that one; she's tough, she can take it.

    Aaaannnddd. I'm spent.

    ReplyDelete
  83. @Hell's Kitten: Her aavtar was not civil; her response was.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Oh good, you're here. I was here that day, and I remember thinking, what a puss to back down from her for that. Also, anyway you say it, telling someone what you can and cannot say/do in a free society is not civil, not matter now many smiley faces you throw in there. For real though.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I really hope it is not Lewis/Martin. With Jerry Lewis and the whole Jerry's Kids thing, this would
be even more disturbing if that's possible. Maybe Rowan and Martin but not Lewis and Martin. Seriously tho, I don't have a clue.

    ReplyDelete
  86. HK, Sue Ellen, et al: Wow! I should have expressed myself more accurately.
After sounding the depths of lesser sites, I repeatedly found their comments sections comprised primarily of low-brow, back-and-forth insults or a series of "First, bitches!" (funny, when the post is #15.) When I came across CDAN, I read the comments for a long time before posting, feeling at first like Jack Nicholson wandering into the Fish and Goose Soiree in The Shining. My "First!" (done sarcastically, I thought) led one person to warn me that when they had done it earlier, other readers had given them a "verbal ass-kicking," hence the phrase. RQ herself deftly referred me to her avatar, the equivalant (to me) of being taken aside quietly and told, "Dear boy, don't you know? It's bad form!" My effusive apology was a little much, I admit, but I didn't want to wear a Perez Hilton t-shirt while I was posting from then on. Then I realized nobody cares. Sorry to have to discuss this at such length; I'm surprised anyone even remembers that. Damn!
That said, my comment about 'civility' meant readers can disagree with one another without becoming personally insulting. It's obviously impossible to carry on discussions like this without stepping on somebody else's toes sometimes, but I hope to maintain a distinction between "I disagree with what you say," and "You're an idiot if you think like that!" when commenting on other posts.

    ReplyDelete
  87. #3: I'd have gone along with the Nic Cage or Russell Crowe guesses if the filming locations for their last half-dozen movies or so weren't so vanilla. Mostly the US, Canada and the UK. Russ popped over to Thailand and Morocco for a couple of movies a few years back, and for Nic you have to go back to Bangkok Dangerous to find him even leaving the country really. But Thailand isn't really that exotic in a global sense. I mean, you can find many, many Thai women here in the US. Maybe he prefers them homegrown, I don't know.

So I think I'll agree with some others who have said Matt Damon. There you've got:

    Invictus - South Africa
The Informant - France and Switzerland
Che:Part Two - Spain and Bolivia
Bourne Ultimatum - Germany, Spain, Morocco, France, Italy
    Good Shepherd - Dominican Republic
Syriana - Morocco, UAE, Egypt, Switzerland
    Brothers Grimm - Czech Republic
Oceans 12 - Netherlands, Italy, Monaco, France
Bourne Supremacy - Germany, India, Russia
    EuroTrip - Czech Republic, Germany
Bourne Identity - France, Spain, Czech Repub, Italy, Greece
    Gerry - Argentina, Jordan

... you get the idea. I don't know if he talks about why he takes roles a lot but he certainly is a globe-hopper.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Uhhhh - Someone mentioned Rock Hudson. I used to know a U of Texas football player from their 1965 championship team who told me that Rock took team members down to the Texas coast for a little vacation and orally serviced them. These would have been 19 - 22 year olds.

Rock Hudson's "partner" would be Doris Day.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Melodythefirst "mygeorgie, I don't know of anyone as nasty as the new band. And I don't recall seeing you here before."

I've been around for 3 years. Thank you for noticing ;) Took some gumption to start interjecting as it felt like a private club, and yup, now back to the same, but with that extra, as you call it it, "general sardonic voice of gossip boards" (read: straight up condascending bitchery), I post a lot less now.

There is 'respectful disagreement" & then there's "shot down in flames". If you need a lesson in the matter, see your unsolicited response to me.

There's a whole lot of finger waging that goes on on this board, from the same 5 posters, all in the guise of "keepers of Enty's blog". Territorial threadwar, more like it.

btw, all new people are not trolls & poiting out "You're new here aren't you?" simply drives home the above argument, er, 'discussion'.

    ReplyDelete
  90. #3: Ewan McGregor? Heard he has an open marriage and seems to travel a lot when he's not working...

#4: Not JLH - I would debate the "very attractive" and "hit network show" plus she's the one that bedazzles herself...I like the Sophia Vargara guess.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wow, if Texas football players are that easy, I'm going to start inviting the teams over when they play local universities now. That's friendliness plus.

    ReplyDelete
  92. @Diva and Elspeth:
I picture one of those big maps and the push pins for each country scored, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Like the Matt Damon guess for #3. trinnean you did some homework. And no way he's gay. Takes one to know one.
Liked the Sophia V guess until someone said she had a kid. No way JLH is a virgin b/c she screams HO to me. LOVE the Emily Deschanel guess, she comes across as being virginal. Probably why David Boreanaz has been in so much trouble lately w/sexual harassment suits, his co-star isn't putting out.

I know the show is called Bones, but doesn't mean she hasn't been on one...& yes, I did just say that.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Just wanted to say that as far as I can tell, Emily Deschanel has been dating the same guy since at least 2007, Nick Hornsby. I don't doubt there are virgins out there who can carry a longterm relationship without giving it up, but that doesn't jive with the "always seen with guys and has dated lots of men" part. Sorry, I wish I had a guess for this. Will do some more digging. These are hard when you don't watch much TV! I am better with the movie blinds.

    ReplyDelete
  95. #4: Thanks to TV.com I found a list of the most popular TV shows. I grabbed the women from like the top 15 shows who fit the age description. Then I eliminated all who are or have been married and/or have children, which was pretty much all of them. Anyway, it COULD be:

Cote de Pablo, 30, NCIS - raised in a Roman Catholic family in Chile, was the oldest child (but is she seen with lots of men?)

    Jennifer Morrison, 31, House

    But it's not:

    Lola Glaudini, Criminal Minds
    AJ Cook, Criminal Minds
    Danneel Harris, One Tree Hill
    Drea de Matteo, Desperate Housewives
    Jennifer Carpenter, Dexter
    Julie Benz, Dexter
    Robin Tunney, The Mentalist
    Stephanie March, The Mentalist
    Diane Neal, Law&Order SVU
    Jessica Capshaw, Grey's Anatomy

  96. @mygeorgie and Sue Ellen - preach it! :) Thanks to you both for being honest about your thoughts. There's too much of a pack mentality on these boards.

  97. Hey all - wow. Ok...a few things.

Robert - thanks for actually remembering that exchange as it actually took place. You made one of those "first" comments - I referred you to my avatar that was about people who said "first" - we both had a laugh and moved on. Some people on this board are clearly incapable of that. I enjoy your comments all the time - one of the funniest dudes around.

Case in point about moving on is chihuahuaense - wtf, yo? You and I had a disagreement about a comment I made about religion once, I apologized and you said you accepted it. For you to now agree with mygeorgie that I am a "regular nastyass" on this board is - yes, hurtful - but also, shows a level of bitterness and grudge that I didn't know was going on. Aren't Christians supposed to be forgiving?

@mygeorgie - I really don't have much to say to you except that you and I don't get along. I know it and you know it - the difference between us is that I don't take any opportunity I can to call you out as a terrible person. Keep it up, though - it's incredibly mature and you must be proud.

    @Becki - trolls don't bother me. Fact.

I'm going to ignore Sue Ellen as I usually do. It's a better option than shit-talking.

To everyone else on this board who manages to be a kind and funny and tolerant of differing opinions without name-calling - thank you! It's because of so many people great people here that I comment on this site and will continue to do so.

    #2 - Ginger Rogers
#3 - What a fucking stupid ambition to have. Probably Russell Crowe. He's a douche of the first order. Please not Anthony Hopkins!
#4 - No clue, but maybe someone who has known religious leanings?

  109. There's a reason why people are getting pissed off - it's because of the usual bitchy group of posters with their pack mentality attacking others who don't agree with their point of view.

Which is why it's a joke when RQ says that she's thankful for all the differing opinions we all have, only to turn around and attack someone's religion.

    @Run Fly Witch - That's genius :)

  112. THE ARGUMENT, my 2 cents: everyone has opinions, its what flavors these boards... if everyone got along perfectly and agreed completely i would never come back, my life at a law firm is tedious enough

@RQ, i enjoy your comments, bitchy and not, i know i am not perfect and have many days were i come off as a straight mean catty bitch... and as for the comment someone made about you attacking religion? i say, oh well! religion always seems to be attacking me and putting me on the defensive when it comes to a lot of social issues so its nice to see "christians" get called out, seeing as how they are so good at looking down on many others... besides if god is as powerful as religion claims he is, he can hold his own against silly words on a silly gossip site

AND for those about to attack me for feeling camaraderie with RQ, i also love it when people challenge her, its fun, discourse and sarcastic and often witty back and forths give me the chuckles i need to get through work!

#4, i cant imagine its JLH, there's so many blinds about her crazy sexual requests [lights off, clothes on or some crazy stuff like that...]

    LMAO at that one.

I hope the CDAN readers took a chill pill over the weekend. Dang.

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Trinnean - "Just wanted to say that as far as I can tell, Emily Deschanel has been dating the same guy since at least 2007, Nick Hornsby."

I know of no celebrity named Nick Hornsby. There's the UK writer Nick Hornby (About A Boy) but he's been married to a producer for several years.

  117. This Old Hollywood blind item really intrigues me. I have been doing some research-and I can't seem to find any info on Fred Astaire ever having been nominated for an Oscar. In 1950 he was presented with an honorary Oscar by Ginger Rogers-but no Oscar nominations. So unless, I missed something, I think we can clear Astaire. The same is true for Jerry Lewis-never been "nominated" for an Oscar, though he also received an honorary Oscar. When I think of old hollywood A++ movie actor who was nominated for an Oscar, never won, everyone knows his name and that of his partner, I think of Richard Burton (nominated 7 times) partner Elizabeth Taylor. But if Enty is holding true to "an oscar" -singular, then this eliminates Burton too.

    ReplyDelete
  118. OMG! i've never seen anything like this on CDAN, and I've been a regular reader (occasional poster) for 3 or so years. Simmah down, everyone. Simmah down!

    ReplyDelete
  119. @rdmtimp: Omigosh, you're right! I wrote the name wrong, his name is DAVID Hornsby. Haha, I must have been thinking about the author too when I typed that.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Astaire was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 1975 for the Towering Inferno.

    ReplyDelete
  121. #3 seems odd to me because it's an actor who talks a lot about the reasons he takes particular roles. And that's not suggesting anyone to me, no one at least who stands out as a "This is why I chose this role" talker. I mean, the Damon and other guesses are good, but is Damon really remarkable for the frequency with which he explains why he takes particular roles? So I'm without a real guess on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  122. i like the jlh guess. just because john mayer sang about her really means nothing...with how kiss-and-tell he is i feel like something about their sexual exploites would have come to light. perhaps they have, but i cant remember anything specific.

and on another note, ive always worked under the theory that tyra banks may be a virgin, her obvious obsession with prostitutes/sex was always a topic on her show. and her obsession with her self will being so pro 'be yourself, love your body' makes me feel like she's very conflicted about physicality and sexuality.

just something i've thought about for a while...

  131. @RocketQueen: My "problem" with you started when you, in your usual fashion, you ripped me a new one for having a different viewpoint on something. I was a new poster at the time. I've always been civil. In fact, I always try to side step you & often refrain from commenting after you for fear of the "Queen's" wrath. When I see you're on a thread, I often avoid posting altogether. No more. You're a straight up rude, condascending bully who goes full on passive aggressive bitch when handed her own medicine.

Calling someone immature because they DARE stand up to you is pretty rich.

This blog is bad for its alpha pack mentality. The prime example in this thread is, "I've been here for X number of years so there." So?

When I stop visiting blogs regularly, it's usually because I can't handle the commentors anymore, it's rarely because of the writer. The comments are what make a lot of posts fun, especially when the commentors are intelligent and sarcastic. But on this site, it's "agree with us or else you are the worst person ever!!!" I said I didn't like the lameness of using nicknames and I was attacked with everything from "well I went to Harvard" to "I come here to relax so if you don't like it..." Good lord!

Just read the Reveal Day comments to see that alpha pack mentality.

And to whoever said the commentors here are better than Celebitchy, no way. I don't read DListed because I hate the use of nicknames but Celebitchy is a good site and the commentors have vast opinions and there's absolutly no bullying on that site. Can't say the same for this one.

  134. I recall reading, I believe in one of those trashy Hollywood Babylon books (so you can make your own judgment as to how reliable it is) , about James Dean's relationship with an underage boy. However, while the boy was underaged, he was a teenager, so I don't know if that is young enough for the "little boys" wording.

#1 and #2 - Mickey Rooney for the actor and Judy Garland for his partner (it says that one involved is dead and Mickey's been nominated)

    #4 - Kaley Cuoco?

    ReplyDelete
  136. There is NO WAY in hell that 1&2 is Jerry Lewis. Just no way at all.

Aside from every other reason of logic and sense, the item itself said the person had been nominated for an Oscar and he's never been nominated. Anyone who knows anything about him would know that there's no way it's even a possibility.

Thanks for the two cents. I don't give a fuck about what you think should be a topic for people to comment on, or what you consider to be a real issue. If you cared about the "real" problems in life, you wouldn't be commenting on something that has nothing to do with you on a gossip site, you would be helping those people that have "real" problems. Perhaps you should heed your own advice and get a goddamn life.

#4 Cote de Pablo and Rashida Jones are great guesses! I love Rashida; she is so smart and funny and she identifies very much with her Jewish faith (which I discovered while watching a Bravo TV after the housewives show!)so she could be the virgin, especially since she dated John Krasinski who, well, we all know the gossip about him ... :P

  150. Well shit. I guess I missed all of the hubbub this weekend!

I've been commenting on here for just over a year. Yes, it can be scary sometimes, but, I love the CDAN family. Dlisted commenter's just seem really immature. Celebitchy is okay. But CDAN IMO hands-down has the best people and comments.

I think the fighting/bickering just comes with the territory. It's much easier to bicker on a comment board then in real life. I come here for entertainment, and to read everyones OPINIONS. I actually find peace, from my hectic work day here, almost everyday!

    Thanks EVERYONE!

That was me, and I have to respectfully disagree. The comments on Celebitchy are, in general of course, not all of them, FULL of cattiness and name calling and "how dare you disagree with my opinion it means you're a loon" and a level of stupidity I find shocking. I have more to say on it but I can't be bothered; this whole thread turned into...something, I don't know...LOL I RARELY find that kind of behaviour on this site. Granted, I don't read it every day and I don't consider myself a "regular", but I usually feel "safe" coming here, because I know it won't (usually) be the mess I see on most other sites.

Let's hope this particular thread is an anomaly and everyone will get over themselves and continue to have fun. ;)

  153. @ jen- I know, it's almost like Old Hollywood was a bunch of pedos, weirdos, and a-holes... Oh wait, that's NEW Hollywood too! lol they had better publicists back then I think. Plus the Hwood Studio Machine willing to cover up everything.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Right, it's me who does that. If you feel like you can comment on something, than so can I. Don't get your panties in a bunch when someone comments back to you, and then begin to guess wildly about someone's life, which you know nothing about. That description of me in my mom's basement (or at McD's for that matter) came far too easily to you, which makes me think that you speak from experience.

@ Jen, I'll give it to you Celebitchy's posts on either Angelina or Jen Aniston. I don't even read the comments on those, they get insane. And sometimes the commenters can get rather holier than thou and woman-hatey but there can be some pretty good insight and conversation. The same bullying that exists here doesn't exist there so maybe that's why I like it better.

    ReplyDelete
  156. @jen - ITA about Celebitchy. To me there is a certain level of maturity missing. For instance; everytime they post something about Angelina...Every comment is the SAME. Geez people, get some originality...
